What to order:
For a first timer, definately order the large sandwhich plate with chopped beef. It comes with two sides, Mike's cheese bake is amazing, and the other sides are sufficiently good. If you are feeling adventurous order the "spudzilla", a gigantic baked potato with your favorite meat, cheese, and other toppings. Don't forget to get a free ice cream cone when you are done.
The Atmosphere:
Mike takes pride in his work, evidenced by the fact that he chops and serves each of his customers on a daily basis. The place has plenty of seating, inside and out. The atmosphere is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to this place. Caution, the lunch crowd is huge, if possible try to eat a late lunch to avoid the rush.
Summary:
Overall Mike Anderson's is my favorite BBQ joint in Dallas because it has the full package. Good brisket, great sides, easy to read menu, and a large seating area. His competitor down the road, Sunny Bryons, has great brisket and a few good sides, but reading the menu is difficult, and seating even more difficult.
Who am I:
I am a medical student and BBQ fan, and every city I live in, or travel to, I search out the best bbq. As of yet, Texas Brisket is still my favorite.
Pros: Brisket, Sausage, Sides, Service, free ice cream
Cons: Hours of operation, Large lunch crowd
