Well, it's done. After the person who was running the gym had Membership push for membership payment up front (shame on you), the placed closed down AFTER money was withdrawn from member accounts who opted for monthly billing. Also, FALSE promises to pay employees were given to the very end. They were told to wait for the word of receiving pay checks and the place closed that afternoon!! "WHO DOES THAT FRANK?!"

Pros: OUT OF BUSINESS

Cons: OUT OF BUSINESS

My kids completly love the daycare and youth activities staff. I am always there to work out due to my kids always wanting to go to the gym. The staff there is great. The Group fitness classes that are awesome are very exciting and works my butt. I have lost so much weight due to the biggest loser contest. Thanks for having that contest. I would really say I would rather workout at impact than some other gym because people dont just stand around and talk in the work out rooms they actually work out on their piece of equiptment and move on. I always refer my friends to Impact Athletics. And they also love it here.

Pros: Family gym never too crowded

Cons: not enough group fitness classes

The guys that workout and train at Impact are phenom. I have no qualms about finding me some delicious man-piece here. My man candy: D-train and my Chocolate Covered Allmond. They mentioned something about never getting paid on time, but I have always paid them in FULL. Just kidding. But for serious, I pay month to month, but I would go either way for any of those ladies in membership.

ps. I will be creating a meet-up for obscure & ridiculous forum posts about local gyms. let me know if you're
interested.

I just finished up with abs and back today at Impact. I was just checking the daily blogs, RSS, among others. I cannot believe my eyes! The boys and I love the gym; we are seasoned Triathletes. If ever there was a tri-friendly gym it would be Impact. And the staff is top-notch; Linda, Stephanie (rwarrrrrr) and a couple of the trainers there too...Anyways, I digress. You fools are smoking some sorta wacky weed, cause this place is the best! Anyways, I got a hankering for that Woodway treadmill, I can't wait to run the hell outta that thing tomorrow! P.S. the sauna is awesommmmeeeeee!!!

I've been a active member for 3 years and although the staff was never what I would call Friendly the facility was great, group classes were very good, and the equipment maintained well.

Early this year the gym was sold to and the new owner came in with a ton of new ideas, promises, presentations. In addition to nothing being followed thru on the staff turnover has been insane - people dropping like flies, group classes being canceled left and right, and the facilities falling apart.

It seems that money has gotten tight, paychecks have bounced, equipment isn't being repaired - all while the owner doesn't want to address the concerns.

At the same time I get calls from the membership team asking if I want to pre-pay for 1 year and get 18 months worth of membership. If I ask about plans for the new pool or any of the other promises the answer is always - yes, that's starting next week. However, nothing is ever done.

Strongly advise you ask these questions before you join.

Pros: Not much since new owner and broken promises

Cons: Strongly recommend do NOT use

This place has the most inflexible policies. Brought my kids here for a 10:00 AM private swimming lesson, was told that the lesson would be delayed 30 minutes due to doublebooking. Sent the kids to the gym, which had three people total on a Memorial Day Saturday, to pass the time; was told to sign up at the front desk. The front desk clerk flatout said no because we weren't members, even though I had offered to sign a waiver. With one attendant taking care of two kids in the nearly-empty gym, our lesson being delayed due to Impact's doublebook, you'd think these guys could at least allow us to use the gym for half an hour, right? No! This asinine rigidity is not appreciated.

I joined Impact eight months ago primarily because of the pool. However, I have been disappointed with the cleanliness of the pool's interior. The walls often show crud build-up and the floor has yielded suspicious looking debris. Perhaps rules could be posted banning bandages, diapers and uncovered hair.

Many of the classes are led by instructors who are enthusiastic and resourceful. There is the occasional instructor who starts out with a lot of enthusiasm, but after a couple of months becomes laxed in both class preparation and implementation.

I feel that the adult fitness program is an afterthought for Impact. (They appear to have terrific youth gymnastic programs.) Even though the workout areas have adequate equipment in good condition and readily available, I find both the atmosphere and the classes extremely boring.

I am looking for another facility to join when my membership ends at Impact.

Cons: dull atmosphere, lukewarm desk staff

I recently joined Impact Fitness after viewing some of the competition in the area. I chose it because first of all it is a huge gym. The workout areas are large, and the machines are well spaced apart. There are two different rooms with cardio/weight machines so you have a choice if one appears more crowded. I've been during their peak times and haven't had a problem finding an open machine. They've got great quality machines, I truly love using them because they are easy to adjust and very smooth. No broken machines, no struggling to pull a pin out to adjust it, no rust, squeakiness etc. The cardio machines have TV's built in. The group exercise classes I've tried have been fabulous, again nice big room and they provide all the equipment for you. A good schedule too offering lots of different classes at different times. I like the atmosphere here too. Impact offers programs for non-members, like cheerleading camps and such. There are always lots of children and families in the downstairs area for this reason ( I haven't seen any kids in the weight rooms and non-members are not allowed in these areas). With children and families around I feel safe here, this gym does not have a "meat market" type atmosphere like some of the trendy clubs. I don't use personal trainers but they offer it, and they did not pressure me into buying any personal training when I joined. They've got an indoor pool and really nice locker rooms as well. For all that you are getting I thought the rates were very reasonable, not any more expensive than other clubs around that offer you much less. They also offered me a 6 month contract since I may be moving out of the area, although I'd hate to leave this gym!

My daughter is cheering there for her third year and we have loved it! She had taken gymnastics at
2 other gyms before this, and they were always changing instructors. Here the instructors are consistent, fun, and well-trained. They are very safety-conscious and have the best equipment I have seen locally. They are a God-centered gym and really take an interest in all the kids.
