BE WARNED!!!

The service is terrible, in that, the 2 men (father and son) that run the place are rude, obnoxious and walk away when you ask any questions.

Dirty plates, and water glasses. When I asked for a fresh water glass

This is a great indian place- it is owned by the nicest family who really take care of you. Last time we went, the owner came out with a full plate of hot naan right out of the oven and it was incredible! The tikki masala, lamb meatballs, and saag paneer are what we keep going back for. Also try the mango pudding! We always leave with full and happy tummies!

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you like bad service and feel like you are being watched every time you get a new plate (C'mon man!)I printed a coupon for 50%off meals off the internet and tried to use it, but was denied a discount on my meal because I didn't give it to the waiter as soon as I walked in (C'mon man!)....so our meal ended up costing $28.00 for the buffet for 2 people with drinks (C'mon man!) I?ve had better food and friendlier service off a road side vendor. It?s decorated nice and some of the food is o.k, but I would never go back there again, i do recommend the indian star on Anderson Ln.-B-

I got a coupon in the mail (buy one meal get one free), and decided to eat here. It was great! I've been six or seven times now and had the buffet every time because #1 the coupon, and #2 I don't really know enough about Indian food yet to pick things off a menu. The buffet doesn't seem to change. Every time they've got lamb meatballs, chicken, beef, tandoori chicken, saag paneer, naan, rice, lot of veggies, and at least 3 desserts. If you use the coupon, it's a great value considering the quality and quantity of the food.

This is a very low-key establishment--the decor isn't upscale and the buffet is pretty low-tech, but that doesn't detract from my meal at all.

If you liked this restaurant you have never had good indian food. I am from Houston and have lived in NYC so I have had the opportunity to eat at many indian food restaurants and this is by far the WORST indian food place I have ever eaten at! Let's start off with the fact that the sauces they bring you and at other indian places they usual to dip in the sauces. There is a red sauce and a green sauce and they were not authentic at all. The green herb like sauce was NEON green. That is not normal, and it was also extremly watery. My friend ordered a lamb dish, and it was definitley not lamb. We asked them what it was and they said it was a side cut. I don't know if that is code for a bad cut of beef, but it tasted nothing like lamb. I ordered a shrimp curry dish. It was called a tomato onion curry, yet the curry was yellow. So I thought maybe they just have yellow tomatos. But it did not taste like tomatoes and there were no onions in it what so ever. Also it was very bland. Bland is not something that should ever be used to describe indian food. DO NOT EAT HERE. I read many reviews online and know that every restaraunts will have some bad reviews, but I am telling you this is not good food.

The authenticity and quality of the Indian Palace's Buffet is extraordinary.
Their Chicken Tandoori, Samosas, Vegetables and variety of meats are an excellent exposition of the Indian Cuisine. There is a good combination of spices and flavors in everything they cook. That's why their food smells and tastes great! Quality over quantity is probably the key ingredient in this cozzy and well decorated Indian restaurant. You will be tempted to refill your plate again and again.
Great customer service and attention in detail. Your opinion really counts!

I'm not sure what all these reviews are about!? My husband and I are new to town from Houston, and we chose this place based on reviews especially the one commenting about comparable to Houston Indian restaurants. We both got sick after eating the lunch buffet, literally. The best thing was the samosa which had probably been sitting there for over an hour. The food lacked in flavor (yes, indian food lacking flavor) in comparison to other Indian restaurants we have tried. We absolutely looooove Indian food, but this place was awful. Sorry! I hope we just went in on a bad day, we won't be going back.

First of all i wish there were more stars to give this great restaurant. The service is excellent and the food is out of this world. I would challenge anyone who goes to another buffet style restaurant to beat the excellent food and prices you can find at Indian Palace. If you are looking for a variety of Indian foods look no further you have found your messiah.
Pros: Great service great food and great atmosphere
Cons:None whatsoever

This is one of the best Indian buffet style restaurants I have been to...though I do agree, it is pricey. I found the food to be fresh and plentiful as the buffet had the largest amount of food choices I have seen at a Indian style buffet.

I found the service to be appropriate for a buffet style place as other than clearing dirty and empty plates, they were unassuming and helpful when flagged for assistance.

Did I mention the green sauce?

To die for.

Tasty, yummy and tasty buffet. The food here is fresh, oh so flavorful, and there is plenty to choose from. If you are looking for consistenly delicious Indian food - it will be here. Each time I go I wonder how I did without it for so long. On a side note: Sometimes it does seem like the owner men up in here may have their undies all in their c r a c k - the one woman in here is always so pleasant though.

I can only say that it's the worst indian restaurant i have ever been to. The hospitality was awful too. None of the dishes were tasting good and seemed to be unhealthy. We reached the restaurant at 9pm and the dishes were almost over and were served cold. I ended up paying $11 for this horrible food. Take my words seriously or else you will regret.

Indian Palace is the very best Indian Restaurant in Austin. The service is excellent and the food is addictive. I review restaurants for the Manor Messenger Newspaper, so I eat out several times per week. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in Austin and Indian Palace is absolutely the best.

The owners, Jangir Singh Dhillon and his nephew Gurjant Singh Dhillon and Jangir's wife Jasvir Kaur are very friendly and very knowledgable of Indian cuisine and the service is perfection.

I just love their Mushrooms and Green Peas in a Creamy Brown Sauce. The seasonings are so finely tuned, the dish simply sings. The Saag Panner (chunks of homemade cheese in creamed spinach) is also extraordinary. The combination of flavors really hits the spot. Also very good is the Chicken Tikka Masala (pieces of tandoori roasted chicken in a fantastic butter and tomato sauce). That sauce is again a finely tuned machine. Much of what Indian Palace is about lies in the sauces. The Vegetable Samosas (turnovers filled with green peas and potato) are also very good. But I think my absolute favorites are the Lamb Meatballs in Brown Sauce and the incredible Tomato Coconut Soup. This soup is so delicious, you will find yourself going back two or three times for more. And the Brown Sauce really brings out the flavor of the Lamb Meatballs to the fullest. In fact, if I could only have one dish at Indian Palace, it would have to be the Lamb Meatballs.

And if you try all that and are still ready for more, try the Eggplant and Tomato Stewed with Spices, or the Cauliflower and Potato Allo with Spices. Also try the Chickpea and Onion Curry, and Vegetable Pakoras (chickpea batter fritters). And you can't go wong with the Chicken Kadhi. Indian Palace also has assorted Salads and Chutneys, and four desserts (Pastry Spheres cooked in Rosewater and Cinnamon Syrup, Mango Custard, Rice Pudding, and Fresh Fruit).

I LOVE Indian Palace and so will you!

Sincerely,
Jerry Jackson

I recently went to Indian Palace with 4 other friends. I had a coupon for 'BUY 1 GET ANOTHER HALF OFF,' which I printed off of their website. Their staff failed to give my friends and I that discount. When I asked one of the staff members to change it, a lady came back and told us it was too much trouble to give us the extra discount. Therefore, we left a lower tip, WHICH THEY CHANGED ON MY RECEIPT. I am very disappointed in Indian Palace. I would take 4 or 5 of my friends to go there about twice a month since they have a dinner buffet, but I am never coming back again. In addition, if you go to the restaurant after 7, they stop making fresh naan bread. The only thing good about the restaurant is the food you get for the price (Buffet).

Having had great Indian food in the SF Bay area and around the country we went looking for what Austin's Indian restaurants had to offer. The reviews looked promising for Indian Palace so we set off on a weekend to sample their mid-day buffet.

We were promptly seated by the friendly staff and poured large goblets of water. The interior is typical strip mall simple with adequate seating, much of it large booths.

The buffet was a promising selection of meat and vegetarian dishes, soups, salad, and dessert. We filled our plates and sat down. Imagine my surprise when I sampled my first bite, a meatball dish, and found it cold. Not lukewarm but actually cold. All the other dishes were adequate, but I can't say that I didn't worry that I would suffer the consequences from unheated food later in the day.

Service was consistently friendly yet unobtrusive throughout the meal. Dirty plates were promptly cleared and water glasses filled without having to ask.

My dining companion made the comment that the biggest mistake by this restaurant was not concentrating on making half the amount of dishes and making them all fresh with the highest quality ingredients. We would much rather sacrifice the option of choosing from 6 vegetarian dishes in favor of 3 very well done ones. This restaurant has potential but frankly I would describe it as *bland* Indian food, lacking the wonderful complexity that makes Indian food so enjoyable.

I doubt we will return as I'm a bit of a stickler for proper food heating. Our search continues . . .

This is one of those places that you almost hate to write a good review for...One is torn. This place is the best Indian cuisine in Austin (in my current opinion). So I'd like to see it have the business to support itself. On the otherside, I enjoy it so much you don't want to see it over crowded. In two words...try it - you won't be sorry.
