Woodland Park Zoo

by Angelica Y. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,954

This zoo has so many attractions that you'll have to come back at least one more day to see all the exhibits. Well maybe I'm exaggerating but it seemed that way when I took my kids there during our visit to Seattle. I would say it was as big as the San Francisco Zoo. The staff at the zoo were very helpful on finding the most popular attractions and helped manage a time efficient visit.

Seattle's zoo

by Deb T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,346

This zoo was amazing. The animal enclosures were awesome. My favorite spot was the orangutans exhibit. When we saw them with cardboard boxes draped over their heads, we were amazed to know that they cover their heads to protect themselves from the rain. Seeing them made me feel like I could actually be in the rainforest with them. I felt close enough to touch them. This is a perfect place to bring anyone, any age, to get a great close-up view.

PROS: The exhibits were very authentic looking.
CONS: The rainy weather sometimes scares people away.

Very nice zoo

by Barbara P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,461

THis is a perfectly fine zoo in Seattle. Just in Tacoma is Point Defiance Zoo, and between the two of them you get a really nice zoo/aquarium experience.

Woodland Park Zoo is located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. Admission is a bit steep and you have to pay for parking (around $4 per car). THe exhibits are interesting and diverse. There is a 'butterfly' house that you can visit but it's an extra $1 admission to get to see that.

Lots here for families. Many (pricey) restaurants to choose from. Nice place to spend a day and forget that you're in a big city!
