We had Jorve come out to take a look at the windows in our building a few months ago. Their sales guy was friendly enough, he seemed interested in the job, and he said he should have an estimate for us the following week. I called him at the end of the following week to check in and he said the same thing -- that he would send the estimate the following week. So...I waited two weeks this time and followed up by phone again. And surprise, surprise! He said the very same thing AGAIN -- that he didn't have time to get to it but it should be ready the following week. This time I waited about three more weeks and sent him an email. He responded a couple of days later and this is all he wrote: "I'll reprint it and send again." Huh? I did finally receive the estimate after more than two months of waiting and getting the run around, but he didn't apologize or offer to explain anything about the type of windows they were recommending or the cost per window. It just contained the total cost for the job and almost no other details. And he has never followed up since then so I'm guessing they don't need the work!
By contrast, I contacted three other companies who sent their bids to us within a week after meeting with me AND provided a detailed explanation of their products, services, warranties, etc. They've followed up a couple of times with answers to questions and have been very professional about the whole thing, which is how it should be when you're thinking about spending such a large amount of money.
With customer service like Jorve's, I'm surprised they're still in business! If it was that difficult getting a bid from them, it doesn't bode well for how they would handle the actual work or any problems along the way.
I'm so pleased with the results that Jorve had with repairing our roof. The Jorve staff worked full days and were extraordinarily diligent in daily clean up to the point that we could use our garage, driveway, and deck without having to navigate through all sorts of roofing supplies. Great bid, great work and great results. A truly great company!
Sweet new roof shingles courtesy of Jorve Roofing. Our old roof was looking ratty, and gross, (thanks to the Pacific Northwest's less than desirable weather) and made our home look 20 years older than it really is. Thankfully, Jorve came to our rescue and with both guns blazing installed new shingles and made our roof look good as new.
I called Jorve to re-shingle my roof and do everything that I don??t have the time or ability to do myself. They were well worth the price. I didn??t have to worry about climbing up the roof and falling to my demise, or at least doing a shoddy job on the roof myself. Highly recommended for their skill, speed and efficiency.
Jorve is absolutely superb! Our neighbor had used them last summer to patch some weak spots on their roof and we were recommended to do the same. Naturally, we used Jorve as well last month and were so pleased with their hardwork and the results that work produced. Like I said, they are absolutely superb!
I??ve always been a fan of trees, until one had the gall to fall on the roof of my brand new, first home ever (figures). I??m so happy that I had insurance to cover the damage and even happier that I went to Jorve roofing to repair said damage. They were efficient and pleasant, treating my home with the utmost care and returning the roof to its pristine, post-stupid-tree-falling-on-it glory. If I ever have roofing needs again, Jorve will be the first guys I call!
Jorve did an amazing job replacing the shingles on my roof. I??m happy that I spent the time investigating and researching Seattle roofers and was able to find one that serves Kent as well. I??m extremely impressed with the quickness and quality of the work done and should I ever need roof work done again, or if my friends need roof work done, Jorve will be the first that I call.
The owner of our Ballard rental has decided that now would be a good time to replace the roof. Thankfully he opted to have Jorve do the work, which has been a wonderful experience for us. From our first experience with them and their initial quote (they were on time and friendly) to their efficient work, Jorve has been a very impressive company.
Jorve was courteous, kind and did a spectacular job on our Queen Anne roof. It really looks quite beautiful. They took exceptional care to not harm our gardens or the property in any way. From our experience, Jorve has really been the best roofing company in the Northwest??
While the Jorve??s roofing bid was not the lowest, the confidence that the roofing contractors demonstrated at knowing the answers to all of our questions made us feel very comfortable. We were not disappointed with the amazing expertise that they demonstrated with working on our Seattle roof.
Last week, Jorve finished reroofing our Magnolia home and there really is no comparison to how it looks now. Our neighbors have constantly been asking who??s fixed up our roof and I have enthusiastically been recommending Jorve. Looking at the before and after, I can??t believe how old and decrepit our home looked compared to how great it looks now.
Our gutters had really started showing their age and were on their last limb so we decided to look into having Jorve come and have them replaced with top of the line gutters for our home in Ballard. I am so pleased that they set us up with some fantastic new gutters that match our home??s style way better than the ones we previously had.
Pros: Efficient installation, very personable and skilled
Jorve is currently working on repairing my roof and from the very beginning they have really impressed me. Unlike a few other contractors I was looking to use, Jorve actually got on my roof to examine it and explained to me which parts of the roof were in trouble and which parts were sound and didn??t need to be bothered with. I appreciate their honesty and hard work.
Pros: knowledge, skill
I heard KIRO radio host Dori Monson reading an ad for this company.
Yesterday, his blog post had a header, "Is there a link between race and intelligence?" His blog is full of stuff like this. Then he reads a Jorve Roofing ad.
I have a hard time supporting businesses that fund this kind of behavior.
Cons: supporting questionable topics
Seattle's Jorve Roofing came out and finished my roof project in only two days! The workmanship was impeccable. The roofing contractors were very respectful and the yard was almost cleaner than when they arrived! Bravo!
Pros: Knowlegable and friendly staff
I have a complicated roof system. I interviewed five roofing contractors and found that Jorve was the best fit for my family. They provided a detailed description of work, thorough attack on existing problems and CLEAR commitments to meet the manufacturer's specifications and to used legitimate labor. Furthermore, the warranty was not a confusing legal document, simple straight forward commitment to be responsible for the work they quoted. The job went with out a problem. They started on time, worked through the complications my estimator expected, installed every detail correctly, finished and cleaned up better than before work began. I AM TOTALLY HAPPY WITH JORVE!
Pros: professionals on the roof
Cons: price felt high but the value was clearly a good investment
GREAT EXPERIENCE! We live in a 20 year old all shake roof neighborhood in mukilteo and everyone is roofing, most going to comp. After seeing a roof put on our neighbors house in back of us by a local roofer we were pretty worried about having this done for us. The roofers were swearing back and forth to each other, enjoying a rock concert from their boom box, and were less than appealing with their shirts off. We talked to many of our Friends that have worked with contractors and many talked about or knew about Jorve. After meeting with many roofers Jorve did stand out as being Knowledgeable, prompt and professional so we went with Jorve. from the start it was a very good experience. The foreman Oscar was very comforting in addressing all of our concerns on a daily basis backed by a field supervisor Jay, that also stopped by to check on things. The Crew was all in Jorve shirts, polite and wore safety ropes (something we haven't seen in the area). Well in 3 short days our new roof, skylights, fascia and gutters were done!!! Turns out there is a difference in roofers, our roof is one of the best looking ones on the street (our neighbors tell us) and we have to agree. After all is said and done Jorve was the best choice that we could have made, in fact our new Migard windows just got delivered and Jorve is going to install them next, cant wait! More good news to follow. Thanks Jorve.
Initially, my impression of Jorve was good. The estimate was higher than most but everyone was extremely pleasant. We chose them in spite of the price due to their reputation and warranty.
They recommended a torchdown roof on a dormer on the back of our 1924 house as it was relatively flat compared to the rest of the house. We agreed to the $13K estimate as well as their recommendations and paid a 10% downpayment to get started.
All went well until the last day of work. My husband received a call from someone at Jorve telling him our roof was on fire!. Apparently while finishing the torchdown roof a fire had started inside the attic and as the wood is ~80 years old, the fire spread quickly.
The end result? The lathe and plaster walls and ceilings were destroyed, our upstairs has been gutted to studs, the roof has to be torn off, wiring on the main floor needs to be replaced, we have holes drilled in the walls on our main floor to prevent mold, and some ceilings and walls on the main floor will probably need repairs as well. In total, >$100K damage.
It's been 2 months since the fire. We've lost family photos, spent hours going through clothing, itemizing lost possessions, estimating the worth of things like tupperware and linens, we don't have all of our clothes, and have had to move into an apartment. It's a total headache and will be so for another 4-6 months while our upstairs is rebuilt.
From our perspective, we've paid nearly $7K for Jorve to destroy our house and belongings, and to deal with a 6 month headache. We asked for a refund as compensation and were told no as technically we'll have a roof at the end of all of this, not to mention upgrades to get our house up to code. What a bargain!
I'm appalled and insulted by this rationale. I would gladly have paid the full $13K to avoid all of this. My final thought? If everything goes well with your job Jorve will be fine. However, they will NOT take care of you if anything goes wrong.
Jorve actively solicited our bathroom remodel after doing our roof, siding, gutters, downspouts, and skylights. The exterior work was basically good with a few small details that needed correction. They corrected 2 of 5 problems. The remaining 3 were small, and apparently got lost. One of these was a leaking downspout we had someone else fix.
The interior work was terrible.
The bathroom they started in early July 2006 is still not completed as of June 21, 2007. This job, by all professional estimates should have been completed in 2 -3 weeks. They tore out the wrong bathroom wall by mistake, making two bathrooms unusable. They had unqualified people doing the work. They then had unqualified people making corrections. Exterior laborers and sheet rock people did most of the plumbing and electricity. These same people also did everything else. Jorve employees did damage to our house such as badly scratching newly installed oak floors and banging up newly installed and painted doors. There was a lot of other damage as well.
We have had excuses, empty promises and stonewalls. We still have plumbing leaks, cracked tiles, sheetrock in need if repair , and a myriad of other corrections that have to be done. They have not yet fixed the plumbing, floors, sheetrock , tile or anything else. They have over the months sent unqualified people to do partial fixes that do not really correct any problem.
I was amazed at the top notch craftmanship, I shopped around other companies and they just didnt measure up, best money ive ever invested
Pros: they made it very easy
The problem with Jorve roofing is they lure you in with a better-than-average sales team (of 2 for us) who comes to your house and creates a nice proposal (pictures, details of what's to be done.) Once they have you signed to a contract, that level of service vanishes. From missed timelines to shody work, Jorve failed to match their promises with work delivered.
I could go into details, but the summary of it all is they are not a company that makes you feel good through out the project. Project managers should be on the job site at the first sign of a problem; We never even saw our project manager in the 6 MONTHS it took to complete the roofing/sky light job on an 1100 Sq ft house.
From the begining, they were great, but beware of what happens after the contract. And make sure you are very vocal THROUGH OUT the job about getting it done right the first time (i.e. "Don't strip those screws!!", or " Would you mind cleaning the mess you made?!")
If we had to do it again, we would've gone with A Better Roofing as they were the second choice (out of Jorve, Bruce's, Home Depot, and A Better.) Their prices may be ala carte, but Jorve should be performing much better considering they WERE NOT the cheapest out of the 4.
Missed timelines (And not even showing up on certain weeks)
shody work ("That is NOT done, don't even tell me you intend to leave that like that!")
Lame follow up from management
Expensive for this?!?!
