I brought my two dogs to the Humane Animal Hospital in Plano, Texas in January. Had shots and heartworm tests done, and bought 6 months worth of heartworm pills. Since I had some left over heartworm pills from previous Vet, I didn't bother to call this clinic until September for refills.

Guess what? the Vet absolutely refused to give me new pills unless another heartworms test is administered to the two dogs. His reason was that he wouldn't know whether I did administer heartworm pills to my dogs during July and August. I then told the receptionist about the left over pills, the Vet still insisted that my old Vet to send him the record.

C'mon, I don't mind going through the trouble with my old Vet. But the whole incidence hinges on whether this Vet trusts me. He apparently didn't think I took good care of my dogs, so why should I trust him either.

By law, he should have given me one year of prescription of heartworm pills once he found out my dogs were negative back in January. Why didn't he advise me to buy one year's worth of pills from him initially? or better, give me the paper with "one-year" prescription stamped on it?

There are people on this earth who would go extra mile to burden others as if we have a lot of time in our hands. So adios Humane Animal Hospital.

I see that Dr. Carver has not received a review on here since 2012. I have been taking my fur baby to Dr. Carver since 2006 and have been nothing but pleased with the service. The front office staff is the same which is outstanding since turnover can be high. The wait may be a little long at times, but that is because they offer exceptional service at a very affordable price. Even when my fur baby passed away this week, they took his body and stored it free of charge until the crematorium people could pick him up. They are outstanding and really love their jobs and animals!

I give Humane Animal Hospital and Dr. Carver my highest praises. I cannot tell you how gracious and supportive they have been in taking care of our pets. We recently had an emergency with our dogs while under the care of dog sitters while we were out of town. Dr. Carver and his team, including Calvin, jumped right in and SAVED both our dogs! They did it with love and care and wisdom!

Then unfortunately last week, we had to put our old faithful dog to sleep due to old age. Dr. Caver and Dr. V. handle the situation with tender loving care. In fact, we just received a sympathy card from their office signed by everyone. It shows they really care!

I know my pets are as important to Dr. Carver as they are to me. I strongly recommend them!!

I have 2 peek-a-poos I found this clinic after my older pet had become ill during the snow we had in 2010 the first clinic I took her too could not determine what was wrong with her she was lifeless we found HAH and she was accepted on emergency care they have the equipment to lab and other things on site which helped save Sierra.
She was very ill and Dr V. was the Dr in the office that day I was very distressed with her illness Dr V was very concered for my Sierra and me she was in the hospital for 7 days and he was able to save her she was diagnosised as a diabetic he and all of staff are very caring and patient with all the calls and stop bys I did during her stay I had recently moved to Plano with my son and had been traveling back to Grand Prairie for my Vet Care.
After her near death I knew that no way would I be going back to GP for her care this is where she will be until her last days.
The Clinic is very reasonable with it charges and once again they could have not found a better staff that are so caring front office, tech and both Drs
Thank you for the great care and experince I continue to have.

My animals are part of my family and they go nowhere but here?? - ?? - 2010-04-18
I found this clinic back in 2006 when my 8 year old cat began showing symptoms of FUTD. I did a panicked web search and found Humane Animal Hospital with a listing for the doctor's home number listed! I called the number, told Dr. Carver the symptoms my kitty was displaying and he said get him to the clinic right now, I will find a babysitter for my two year old daughter and meet you there.

It was the best move I ever made. I found a vet who not only cared deeply for the animals but also tried to contain costs -- not to maximize HIS profit, but to make sure the animals got the best care possible.

I cannot recommend him more highly. If you want a vet who cares for your animals the way you do, your search is over.

Bes of all, they do charge lower than the other 2 animal hospitals I've visited before. Highly recommended!!

I must say, my office visit today was nothing other than extraordinary! I've been coming to this clinic for many years now, and I've had a good number of friends whom i have referred to Dr. Carver and his wonderful staff! Today's visit went well as usual, but i really must commend the Staff members on the manner in which they handled what seemed to be an obviously uncomfortable situation. From what i had gathered, the customer(male) involved was upset that he had to pay an office visit, and began to raise his voice. The staff kept calmly attempting to explain the situation, but he ignored them and finally just stormed out. I nearly called the police on the man, as he was making me feel uncomfortable myself! Many thanks again to Dr. Carver and his incredibly patient and professional Staff!!! Highly Reccomended!

I too k my cats there for shots after moving. One had horrible breath the past week, and was such diagnosed with a tooth infection, his tooth had to come out. The staff was very courteous and helpful, Dr. Carver explained everything and gave me written estimate, that was just about what it ended up costing to have the extraction done.

I'd recommend this animal clinic to anyone. The cost here was a lot less for the shots and check ups than I used to pay in California, (about half), and they spent more time explaining things to me.

You better get it in writing on the cost, they say they are a discount vet but they add on other items. I took my pet and said to call me Before anything is done and they did not they even put her under to do a procedure and I would not have authorized that. Look at some of the previous comments from other patients especially the rescuer lady's comments.

The doctor and staff at this animal hospital are very professional, caring, and patient. Dr. Carver treated my cat so well, just as if she were his own. I can tell he loves animals a lot and does whatever he can to make them comfortable. I would recommend him for sure.

I would never allow any animal to be treated by this man, and I hope that this story might prevent another un-knowing person from being exposed to this practice's inexplicably uncompassionate and disrespectful demeanor and practices. I am an animal rescuer, and last week a foster mom contacted me because her foster dog started coughing. He was not coughing the day before, so this issue was a new one and not advanced.

As I have rescued between 50-75 dogs with kennel cough in the last year alone, I have a lot of experience with the treatment protocols and costs for this particular issue and assured her that this would not be a big expense. Normally I'd ask a foster to go to one of the vets I work with regularly and therefore trust, but in this case the timing didn't work, so I told the foster mom I would pay for her to use her regular vet - Dr. Carver at Animal Hospital of Plano. I'

called the front desk beforehand and explained it was a rescue dog, that cost control was of the essence, and that I only wanted this dog to get the basic necessary medicines to address the cough. I also asked for a rescue discount, and they said they are a discount vet so it's already as cheap as possible. Great!

After they saw the dog, they called me to authorize a $209 charge! I nearly fell over! I asked if they'd put it on hold since they already had my card and let me talk to the vet or a practice manager this morning, as I was expecting the charge to be closer to $50. The woman at the front desk put me on hold for literally five minutes and then the vet got on the phone - and he just started "going off." So, I tried to calmy insert my point and just said I was not accusing the vet of anything (I literally said that I wasn't questioning his skill) but that I'm a rescuer, that I've rescued many many dogs with kennel cough in the last year alone, and that I've never seen treatment this extensive, especially when the cough has occurred for only one day. They gave him all kinds of injections and were sending him home with multiple antibiotics! So, I asked why he could not just prescribe Doxycyclene or Clavamox for this dog - and if he'd been able to give any sort of explanation that would've been fine! Dr. Carver started literally yelling "fine, fine, well I tell you what, I won't charge you a dollar, I'll just take this medicine back and you can find another vet" and then yelled at his receptionist to take back the meds from the foster mom and slammed down the phone.

It was sort of unreal. I told the foster mom and the receptionist to please just charge it to me and in the future I'd know not to send any animals to Dr. Carver. Unfortunately, after even all of that, the poor dog ended up going home with no antibiotics.

I found Dr. Carver's attitude to be wholly unprofessional, and I find his treatment and billing practices to be unethical - both in the outrageous overtreatment of this dog but also in refusing to send the dog home with antibiotics after I agreed to pay his unreasonable fees. After all of this, the dog went to one of my regular vets and was in and out in no time for $26.00. If only patients of Dr. Carver could say the same.

I brought my cat in with no visible symptoms other than my complaining of his having been gagging earlier. The staff was courteous and patient, and thanks to their excellent care and attention to detail they found a sewing needle my cat had swallowed before it became dangerous or required surgery to get out.

We were in and out without an appointment in less than an hour, and the whole process was easy for my cat, and very affordable. The whole time I felt like I knew what was going on, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Even after anesthesia (they had to knock my cat out to get the needle) the total cost was under $150, and an hour later my cat was his usual playful self. A really great experience from beginning to end.

I have been blindsided by costs at this clinic twice.

Dr. Carver is absolutely great with pets and his knowledge and expertise is second to none but his estimates on cost are far from correct and my experiences have taught me that any estimate he gives me will be about half of what I end up paying.

He's very personal with you and he treats your pet as if it were his own. He'll give you his home number for any problems and is a great vet. But, if you are going in there for anything besides routine vaccinations - be prepared to come out of pocket about double what he quotes.

My cat has been with this hosptial since he was born. The service were great (love the nurses there!) The docter is very nice and careful, although he does tell pretty scary story about what he has seen before. But overall, they were very nice, very friendly. Most of my friends take their pets here too.

PROS: Good people, good docter
CONS: they messed up my schedule once.

My animals are part of my family and they go nowhere but here??. In a time where people are so quick to complain about businesses, I want to commend one instead:

Pros: A professional who truly has compassion for the animals

Cons: That there are not two or three Dr. Carvers ?
