This is a cautionary tale to anyone who might considering doing business with Sonoma Computers. The worst experience possible. They took my computer to their shop to install a new mother board which the techie diagnosed, to be repaired at an agreed upon price. On their own, without consulting me, they decided to take the hard drive out and put it in a new computer. The techie brought the repaired CPU back but was not able to show me that it worked. He returned to the shop with the CPU. When I called to check on the progress, Doreen the owner started screaming at me when I asked what the final charge would be and would not tell me the charge and unilaterally determined that she would not be able to satisfy me and so she was going to put everything back the way it was when it got there. My computer and the information and programs were held hostage. Never try to negotiate with a hostage taker..
A few hours later I picked up the CPU, brought it home and when I turned the computer on, it was apparent they had not completed the job by reinstalling the programs or had vandalized the unit. I will have the computer resurrected to confirm the above and then take the next step.
My mistake was to rely on a personal recommendation without checking with Better Business Bureau. I have since spoken to friends and neighbors, and to a person each said "If only you had asked me Sonoma Computer they overcharge, are rude and abusive, do not keep their word as to when they will be finished." You do business with these people at your peril.

I went there to clena up a computer that was slow running. They were not able to power on the computer yet charged me 45$ for trying. I had my husband call to clarify what the fee covered OWNER became VERY angry, throwing his glasses across the counter and then the invoice (I had already paid him). He was soooo angry that we would even ask why he charged me this type of fee that he went off. It was not a place I felt safe being so I scooped up my computerand the invoice and promptly left while he was still on the phone with my husband.
Shortly after I left I called my husband to check in and he stated that the owner hung up on him!! I called to apologize if my husband came across the wrong way and to express my concern about his extreme behavior. Well.... he started yelling at me... I simply said that as a customer he should have explained nicly what service he completed to our computer and that would have been fine but to yell at me and then hang up on me as I was talking was RUDE and seriously unprofessional.
I truly understand that dealing with the public is hard but you should never treat your customers like that. The economy is in the tank and Sonoma is a small town so I hope my words will save many form the angry little man that owns sonoma computer.
