Honestly, I couldn't be more pleased with this school. The instructor teaches you the ins and outs of proper bar etiquette, how to make over 100 drinks in two weeks, move more efficient when it comes to making different drinks at one time... This course really blew my mind. It's real hands on training and they teach you everything you need to know, even when it comes to your resume. Price for the tuition I would say is fair, best to sign up with a friend. What I love most about this school is if you just feel like you need to practice more, you can do so whenever for free! Just call ahead and ask if there's room in the class for you (there most likely will be an open station for you).

I did some research on other bar tending schools and liked the fact that Jordan (the course instructor), allowed me to sit and watch while he instructed the class. I did this because I wanted to know if it was worth paying for the class. Well, I stayed. Jordan is crazy, funny (who isn't if you've been in the industry for a while) but most importantly, knows how to teach.

His teaching methods were great. The acronyms he used for making different drinks helped me memorize the material very fast. I wasn't bothered when he would correct me because he was teaching me how to be efficient to earn more tips and most importantly not look like a rookie bartender. Overall the class was fun and I feel comfortable making drinks.

Great school. Jordan is awesome. Really takes his time to teach you how to do everything perfectly. I feel confident applying for a bartending job now.

Okay, so Dan is fine. I don't dislike him as a person or anything, but I did dislike the class. And I'm only saying this because I think anyone considering it should know, I wish I had known.
The only plus was I signed up with a friend so it was not too expensive, but I'm not sure if it was worth it.
The number one thing i disliked though is that he says he claims to have job placement. He also talks about having a job placement counselor, which I'm assuming is him, since no one else seems to work there. And he basically just sends you to his website or another online job search website. His website with 'newly posted' jobs, is all straight copy pasted from Craigslist. Like wow, I couldn't find that myself. And most require you have experience, so what a help. Basically I just feel he has false advertising when it comes to helping you find a job, because he won't. And for me that was the most important part. Learning the information is cool, but I only wanted it so I could use it at a job, instead I wasted money going to this class.
I also feel like he barely actually taught much, he basically handed us papers with the ingredients. He'd do the first two or three with us and then leave us on our own. Which is fine for some people, but I feel like I could have just gone to his first class and learned how to pour, then bought a book and I'd be set, at least as set as I am now.

The Pacific Bartending School uses the most high-tech approach, Flat-screen monitors act as flash cards , loved it.

Dan says one of the great benefits of a job behind the bar is that every day is payday. The Los Angeles Times had a wonderful ad of the school, a full page ad with 2 pictures showing a view of the school. Dan has a fun way of teaching, I can highly recommend the Pacific Bartending School, thanks Dan .

I visited this school first when comparing other schools. I was even asked by another school "have you checked out any other bartending schools"? when I told them I visited this one first they kinda gave up trying to "sell me". It's like they know this school's the best and they can't compete.

So, I took the course 4 months ago and yes, I'm working as a bartender (the school helped me with the job) and things are looking up.

Pros: Ultra modern with streamlined teaching techniques, easy to learn and remember, hands-on -- not too much lecture time (hate that), most time spent making drinks

Cons: only one location

.

They're very upfront with the price and very matter-of-fact about the realities of bartending. The tuition is hundreds less than competing schools which really helped us out since my work was paying for it.

Dan, you're a great instructor. You made it so easy to learn.

Thank you!

Before you pick any school do some homework. I visited several bartending schools and they're NOT the same. This was by FAR the best one I found. The owner is the instructor and he's funny, informative and makes learning bartending easy and fun. That was 3 months ago and now I'm a working bartender. For the first time in my life I like going to work.

THANK YOU, DAN ! You were right. You told us the REAL learning starts when you're working behind the bar.

p.s. I've spent over 40k on education. I earn more money now as a bartender than my old career. For what it's worth, you would have made a GREAT professor. Your course beats the CRAP out of what I learned in college.

PROS: Instruction is from the heart, not just a book and memorized lectures.
CONS: No morning classes
