I GIVE ONE STAR ONLY BECAUSE I HAVE TO. NO STARS FOR KIMMIE. I went to Kimmie on a Sunday at 2:30. She overbooked and I had to wait until 3pm until we started. I decided to go all blonde with brown underneath. She bleached my roots first and let that sit while she was working on someone else. She kept it on for a long time and I was getting concerned when she finally rushed back over to me and literally "slopped" the rest of the bleach on my head. The bleach was dripping all over.. She did it so half-fast. She left that on until it was "convenient" for her to rinse it out. Once I saw the color of my hair I was obviously freaked out (it was like bright yellow!!!). She was ADAMAMENT that it was not yellow. She suceeded in brain washing me so that she could go on to her next customer (who also had to wait like 30 min.s). I left thinking "maybe it does look ok"... -> WRONG!!! I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO MY GUT INSTINCT AND NOT LISTENED TO HER BS!!! She should have been more than happy to spend like 15 more minutes on toner seeing that I was concerned, but she's too selfish for that. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. SHE DOESN'T LISTEN. When I tried to schedule an appointment with her to fix it she was NOT ACCOMODATING AT ALL. You think she'd be willing to squeeze me in considering I'm walking around like this. She wouldn't listen to me when I said I couldn't take off work to go to the salon and that I get off at 5:30pm. She obviously didn't even read or pay attention to what I told her because she tried scheduling me at 5pm. Finally, she sent me a rude text message, "u let me know". I tried calling her and she would never answer. Finally I left a message for her manager to call me to straighten things out since she wasn't responding to me. OF COURSE, then she calls all IRATE. SHE WAS COMPLETELY YELLING AT ME SAYING I"M HARRASSING HER!!! I just wanted the reassurance that she cared, understood and that she would schedule me ASAP. She's all, "I don't even know if your check is going to clear"! Where did that come from?! She didn't have a c.c. machine that worked so what other choice did I have but to write a check!? (Meanwhile, I checked and the check had already been cashed! She just straight up lied to me!) I was trying to get her to calm down and stop yelling at me, so when I started saying, "I'm sorry if it comes accross as me "harrassing" you, but... AND THEN SHE STRAIGHT HUNG UP ON ME!!!! I WAS TRYING TO APOLOGIZE AND CALM HER DOWN, BUT SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!???? I THOUGHT THE CUSTOMER WAS ALWAYS RIGHT?! ITHOUGHT SHE SHOULD BE CALMING ME DOWN!!!!!

Go to Kimmie if you don't mind wasting money and time on a stylist who has MASSIVE ATTITUDE, DOESN"T LISTEN and WHO DAMN WELL WON"T HELP YOU IF YOU ARE SATISFIED!

I get peels and Botox at cosmitique med spa a few doors down and was referred to Crome, and they are the best! The stylists are all so sweet and they even added money in the parking meeter! I like that they have bumble and bumble products! My new favorite salon!!!

Kimmie Chi is the BOMB!!! I've been coming to her for over 6 years & followed her from 2 other salons!! When I first met Kimmie, my hair was a mess and was in need of a miracle!! Another stylist from a different salon attempted to make me a blonde on top of my black hair. She basically fried it. So much of my hair had fallen out, and the hair I did have left was all different colors, (orange, blonde, brown, black). I cried:(
I thought I was going to have to cut all of my hair off and wait 2 years for it all to grow back. By the time Kimmie was done with my hair, not only did she restore my color but also somehow made my hair look really healthy and shiny!!! From that day on I knew Kimmie would be the only one who could touch this head!!! Not to mention, she cuts hairs beautifully too!!! Til this day, I consistently receive compliments on my hair!!! Thank you Kimmie!!! Your the Best and I don't know what my hair would do without you:)

ok, so I follow this chick wherever she goes because:
I was told by SIX STYLIST that they would NOT attempt to lighten my dyed black hair to platinum blonde UNTIL I met Kimmie, who said yes. not only did she do it, but my hair was glossy, gorgeous and no one could believe it was all mine...eight years later, Kimmie has kept my hair (red and black now) silky and I get compliments AT LEAST once I week - she's the bomb and is really reasonably priced, considering she could be in Bev Hills and charge three times as much!! seriously, she has made my hair my number one asset (it's down to my butt and a real eyecatcher) and the boys go crazy for my locks!

Keenan is an amazing stylist and colorist! He takes his time to find the best color for each client and helps you decide what is best for YOUR hair. He is extremely knowledgeable about the chemistry of hair color and takes the time to explain the process. Keenan is extremely talented and I always walk out of there feeling so great because I know how fabulous my hair looks!

Jared simply rocks. I've been going to him for a yr now and am constantly impressed by his combination of mad crazy haircut skills and easy going demeanor. I've got Asian boy hair and for the longest time would only see stylists who themselves were Asian. (Excuse my myopia, but I have had way too many bad experiences with non-Asian stylists/barbers.) Jared changed all that. It probably helps that his zen nature extends into his professional skills. The other thing that is great about Jared is that he is a good people person. He can easily read your mood. If you are not feeling well, hung over, or not feeling particularly chatty, he'll do the job and get you out of there. Otherwise, he is completely affable, even keeled, and quite funny. But always, you'll leave Chrome with kick a$s hair. Also should mention that Sunday appts are possible -- a definite plus.

I saw Berit Jansen-Rodsater at Chrome Salon and she honestly.. changed my life! I have thick curly hair and about 5 years ago I cut it short. Since then I have been wearing some variation of a pixie cut. I've also sworn and made bets about growing my hair out at least once each year, only to fail! A friend recommended Chrome and suggested I try talking to Berit. I went in for a consultation and a week later I had a full head of GORGEOUS, flawless curly hair. I had never had extensions, ALWAYS wanted them but assumed I couldnt afford them. I am writing this review 6 weeks later and the first batch of extensions are still goin strong. We spent about 6 hours together actually putting the extensions in and she was polite and entertaining, needless to say excellent at her craft. She used a technique called ringlock which will be gentle on MY hair as I grow it out along with the extensions.
Here comes the best part...
Including the hair I only paid $400. At other salons, this amount of work would have cost me somewhere around $2,000. Berit also colored my hair to match the extensions-- for a small price and overall my experience has been beyond great. I highly highly recommend Berit.

I just got my hair cut here, and I was really disappointed after reading all of these great reviews. The person who cut my hair seemed like she was in a really big hurry, and despite being marginally nice, cut my hair lopsided so that it is longer on the left side than on the right side. Other than that, it would have been a sort of cute haircut. It's definitely not the most expensive place I've seen in LA, but for $60 at least I hoped for a symmetrical haircut. Next time I'll go back to Kenworthy in Beverly Hills which is pricier but did a great job last time.

Wow!!! I have finally found my hairstylist!!!!! For those of you who have been looking and looking for a stylist to go to...LOOK NO FURTHER!! Go see Anna. It is hard to find a stylist who will listen to what you want and give you what you need. Say good bye to horrible hair!!!!!

I have been on a mission to find a great stylist for over two years. I walked into Chrome very skeptical and I figured my hair can't get any worse than it already is. Then I met Keenan. He asked me what I wanted, but more importantly what I didn't want...orange hair. He explained to me the anatomy of various types of hair and what I could expect when chemically altering it?it was Hair 101 tailored for me. When he was done coloring, cutting, and styling my hair, I was shocked. I could not believe my hair could look so good. The color was perfect for my skin tone. The cut framed my face beautifully and the layers were even on each side. Keenan is a hair genius!!! Later that evening, I went out and the first thing I heard when I walked in was, ?OMG! You look hot.? All I have to say is, ?My search is over. Thank you Keenan for giving me hair nirvana.? You have to check this place out and let Keenan work his magic.

I called Chrome Salon about a week and a half ago and asked who was available for Saturday morning. They told me that Anna was available so I booked an appointment with her. Anna gave me the best haircut ever! I have had maybe 5 good haircuts in my entire life (I have curly, dry, crazy hair) - and this was definitely the best. She listened to my monologue about my hair and the haircuts I've had in the past and offered some suggestions for what she thought would work best - and she had great ideas for my short curly hair (not the easiest thing to work with). The weirdest thing about this haircut was it seemed to be over and done with so much faster than any other haircut I've gotten. I definitely don't mean that in a bad way either - Anna just knew what she was doing! I've rarely gotten my haircut by the same person twice, but now I'm never going to anyone else! Thanks Anna!

I've been getting haircuts from Jared for six years now. He's an absolute sweetheart and he knows what the f$%# he's doing. I'm a guy with super thick wavy hair, and whether I'm growing it longer or getting it short, I can always trust him. I've followed him from salon to salon and turned a gaggle of people onto him, women included. I now live in another city and still wait until I come to LA to get my hair cut by him.

I've been looking for a good, affordable stylist for ages and I found Jared right here on CitySearch. He's really nice and extremely knowledgable. He knew exactly how to fix the mistakes of my former stylist. He's a great combination of someone who is creative and artistic, yet completely open to his client's point of view. I'm so happy with my hair and I've gotten lots of compliments---even from my husband who usually doesn't even notice when I get my hair done.

This hair won't be touched by another hand as long as I have a breath in this body! I walked in feeling like Jared Leto in that movie that he ate chalupas for 6 months to fatten up for and left feeling like Jared Leto in every other frickin movie! I've never had 'the looks' to feel this comfortable inside my own skin. I walk into Chrome because it's on my way to the coffee shop, meekly ask this drop-dead gorgeous girl to give me something that stands out, something that brings out my inner punk, and after some major hair rehab--coloring, blowdrying cutting--I felt like a frog turned into a prince. A sexxy a$@ prince. I have a feeling I could've gotten a great cut from anyone in the salon, but Raquel gave me a great one. She's my girl for life!

Every single time I walk out of Chrome after seeing Keenan, I feel like a million bucks. The color is always perfect, the cut is always what I wanted, the blowout is always fantastic, and the conversation is always FUN. Keenan is a very intuitive stylist - he just "gets" people and gets their style. He knows how to make people look their best - it's as simple as that!!

After several bleach jobs and hair cuts done at home, by myself, (yes, I agree, pathetic), I was lucky enough to have a hot pink lil card land in my hand by a foxy blonde in a bar. I had gotten a real job, so I could finally afford a real hairdresser, so I called Raquel and set it up. Chrome is a stylish salon, but homey and un-intimidating, unlike the salons I had used in the past. Raquel listened to me and gave me exactly what I wanted: Golden Blonde hair with highlights and fabulousness. I get compliments on my hair every single day, everywhere I go. Raquel finally managed to give me the hair I had seen on others but never thought I could have. If you're smart enough to go to Chrome, have Raquel do it!

I've been lucky to have had Kimmie Chi styling my hair for the past 4 years, following her from her previous salon. The highest compliment I can offer to Kimmie is that every time I go in for a cut, I come out of the salon feeling like the most beautiful, stylish version of myself--even more modern than I could have imagined! Her styles are dramatic, yet always functional and easy to care for. And they always grow out beautifully! I'll continue to pass her number around to the many people who compliment me on my hairstyle!

Only gripe about Chrome is that they need a receptionist. Kinda confusing when you first walk in or go up to pay.

Let's just put it this way: I have been looking for a good place to get my haircut and I feel like I have FINALLY found it. I am very happy with my experiences at Chrome. First of all, my stylist Anna is talented and nice. It was pretty easy to book an appointment with her. The salon is aesthetically pleasing and the staff is friendly. There's a lot of street and metered parking. And the price is reasonable. Chrome is the best that I've found so far.

A friend got evil highlights from another salon and Jared performed an amazing color correction and gave her the cutest cut, so I made an appointment and have been going to him for highlights, cuts, and laughs ever since. I always looks so pretty and get endless compliments from friends and strangers after every visit. He's a chill and very funny guy, and for someone like me who has a general phobia for hair salons, it's so great to be looking forward to our fun conversations and I always walk out uplifted and pretty. Plus, he's totally affordable and the salon is very cool yet not at all pretentious.

Not only can I walk to this salon from my house, I happen to get compliments on my hair every time I get it cut here! It's less expensive and much less pretentious than most upscale salons. I don't get bombarded with "suggestions" to try a new product or get an additional service. Roger makes sure that my cut doesn't take a lot of work or a lot of product and that is most important to me since I don't like taking hours to do my hair. Melinda gives the best scalp massage during the shampoo EVER! Both of my step-daughters go here and love Berit and Keenan. Hope they stay here for a long time!

Chrome is a fabulous salon in Culver City. Everyone there is friendly, talented and its a great space!
However i must say I go there because of Jared, he is a great stylist!
I was referred to Jared by a woman I saw while shopping. She had beautiful hair, a great cut and amazing red hair. I highly recommend him to everyone!

I went to see Katherine Hough the new esthetician at Chrome and it was such an enjoyable experience. Not only was it relaxing (great atmosphere) but my skin was glowing afterwards. She made me feel special and pampered. I would strong suggest her services to anyone. She did such a nice job on my facial that I had her give my eyebrows a wax as well. Even though I live out of town, I will be sure to make time to get a facial from her each time I am in the area. Go See Her!!!

I actually chose Chrome Salon because of the reviews I read on this site, thanks for the recommendation, I was very pleased! I walked in on a Sunday to make an appointment and even though they didn't have any available Kimmie went out of her way to fit me in. When I came in for my appointment later that day she started my hair appt. right when she said she would (no wait!), REALLY listened to what I wanted (thank goodness she listended to what I wanted rather than deciding based upon what I was wearing , which was not my best look :), took her time to discuss with me what she was recommending, and gave me EXACTLY what I expected! Basically when I walked in I was very unhappy with my hair and when I walked out it rocked! I have gotten many compliments already and will definitely be back. Kimmie did a great job and was fun to hang out with and was very professional!

I have been seeing Kat for over five years, she has been my one and only stylist the entire time. I have always been more than pleased with her work. In fact I've been blown away. Her incredible work can be attributed to her careful eye and attention to detail, and most importantly her intuitive ear. She has a way of listening to how I'd like my color to turn out, or how I'd like the cut and time and time again she goes above and beyond my expectations. At times she convinces me to take a risk and step outside of the box and change my hair color or cut drastically, but if I'm looking to stay safe she's 100% reliable in that respect as well. I can always trust her work, she takes pride in her work and always strives to be the best she can be. Beyond her work she has a great personality and I can always count on a nice time with her. I love Chrome Salon, not just because it's just a mile and a half from my house, either. I love giving my business to local places, and this salon deserves my business. Melinda, who owns the salon with her husband, is my haircutter, and I've been going to her for about a year. I found her on the recommendation of my neighbor, and I have since recommended her to a work-friend who comes up from Westchester. On my most recent visit to Chrome, yesterday, I discovered Katherine Hough, the new esthetician at the salon. I asked her if she could "give me eyebrows." She did a tint and then a wax, but also gave me a wonderful, relaxing hand massage while the tint was setting. She has a very warm, nurturing personality and I felt pampered. My eyebrows came out great, I love them (this was my very first eyebrow experience). And my haircut from Melinda also was great, as usual. I came out of Chrome last night feeling like a million bucks, all for under 100 bucks! You can't beat that.

Fashionable and confident is how I felt after Kimmie restored my disastrous hair cut. I starred in front of the mirror for an entire hour after I got home admiring the amazing cut. Here?s my story: I was getting ready for a bachelorette party; my hair-bang was blocking my view, so I rushed down the street to get a quick trim. Not only I got a bang-trim, but I also got a hair cut without even realizing. That lady chopped my hair in the most cruel and inhumane possible way. With that chopped hair, there would have been no more parties for at least one month. I needed a savior. So, I met with my friend Keenan, who is a chic stylist at Chrome as well, to cry for help. He touched my hair, and said ??will have to loose the length darling? ?I was hopeless?.then, he added ?but Kimmie would have the expertise to fix this.? So, I rushed to Kimmie, and found myself partying twice as much that week. Not only did Kimmie restore my hair cut, but she also gave me a sophisticated style, and preserved the length. Thank you Kimmie!

Katherine is the new esthetician at Chrome and I got a facial from her. She analyzed my skin and customized my facial to meet my needs. Not to mention it was the most relaxing facial that I have ever had. She massaged my arms, feet, shoulders, neck and did a scalp massage...One word HEAVEN!! She also explained all the products that would work best for my skin, without being pushy to sell them. She also waxed my brows and they look the best that they have ever looked. I will definetley be going back to see her. Thanks Katherine for a great experience.

Chrome is the most professional hair salon I've been to in LA. The technicians are knowledgable, precise,courteous and extremely professional. They show you exactly what they are doing every step of the way. No surprizes.

I just came back from Chrome and it was the best salon experience of my life! I found them off of the Bumble & Bumble website by chance, called and asked if I could come in to talk about the Bumble products. I spoke with Roger and he was so friendly! When I got there everyone greeted me and I was immediately helped. Not only did they explain the products, but Jared actually showed me how to use each one by demonstrating them on my hair! I've never been to a salon that did that! I have thin/fine hair so I tried the density treatment (the best!). Jared was so awesome! I will definitely be going back for a cut in the near future! If you're looking for a salon that makes you feel important...look no further!!

Very cool place to spend a few hours getting pampered. Plenty of ooey-gooey gossip mags to flip through, plus the most extensive Bumble&Bumble product collection on the Westside.

I recommend Melinda for those wanting a super precise haircut and *BEAUTIFUL* color - I have been seeing her for almost a year now, my hair has never looked better. Was tempted to make original appointment with Roger - girls always leave his chair looking gorgeous - but Melinda has the cut and color skills I crave.

After getting my hair butchered at another salon, I needed to find a place that could fix the cut I had. I found Chrome by chance while searching online. They had great reviews, so I booked an appointment with Jared. Not only is he an awesome guy, he is a great stylist. I got an awesome cut for a great price. Everyone is so great. They even have a beverage bar. The place is clean and chic. I am definitely coming back!!

I have been going to Chrome for at least 7 months or more now and Keenan is the man for me.
I pretty much let him do whatever he wants with my hair and I trust him completely on his creative part.
He takes time and make sure I am happy with the result. I walk out happily with my new look every time I go there and people loveeeeeeeeee it. I love it! Thanks Keenan.

This guy is amazing with color. I have seen Jared for over 5 years.(my husband as well). I cried when he left to Portland for a year. I did not color my hair during that time! I was overjoyed when I got the call that Portland was a wash and he was coming back to LA!
If you've had a bad experience at a salon before, as i have, I recommend you see Jared, he had alot of suggestions and was interested in my opinions, he listens. He has a warm presence that instantly made me feel comfortable.I just knew I was in good hands!
Its wonderfull to walk in and just tell Jared to do whatever he thinks look good! Its always excellent.
I constantly get compliments from complete strangers in regards to my fabulous hair!

I had been searching high and low for salon here in the LA area with no luck, up intil a co-worker came to work with the most amazing new haircolor and cut. She told me she sees Jared DeCarlo at Chrome in Culver City. I made the drive from West Hollywood and met Jared. He was warm and very welcoming. The space was open, modern and no pretention.(big surprise in LA) I was greeted and offered a Pelligreno. He was very attentive and had ideas about what would look best..i trusted him and I must say the results were better than my former regular stylist in NYC(sorry Barry). Beautiful cut and color.
Oh and I have curly hair, for those who know what a disaster a wrong stylist can be for curly hair.
I recommend Jared to everyone. My whole family sees him now. Love that guy.

I have lived in LA five years and have driven all around town trying to find a good haircut. I've had some bad ones, one really bad one that even the stylist agreed I shouldn't pay for (!), and mostly a lot of overpriced but rushed stylists who don't take time to listen or take the time it takes to cut my thick hair right.
This all changed yesterday! I went to see Melinda at Chrome and was so pleased with the results! She actually listened, gave me good advice, offered to ease me into some proposed changes, and then meticulously cut my hair, layer by layer, spending nearly 90 min with me (just wet/cut!) I'm thrilled with the results and plan to go back and recommend her widely! She was great to be around too, she really made an effort to relate to me (both hair woes and life-wise) so it was a pleasant conversation. I felt like she explained what she was doing every step of the way, and recommended products only when I asked but never pushed (in fact, she suggested going w/ a travel size of one I was still unsure on!)
I would recommend her in a heartbeat--and the salon itself is a great space with a relaxed vibe. Thank you Melinda & Chrome!!

I just received my first highlighting process ever at Chrome Salon and Spa. Keenan was a great stylist, who really showed his expertise while coloring and styling my hair. My hair is a very very dark brown, and Keenan was able to make my new highlights look very natural. He really new how to blend the colors perfectly. I never realized what a tedious process it was to color and highlight hair, but Keenan took his time regardless because he strives for perfection. Thank you so much, Keenan, for my beautiful hair. -Gena

I just moved to LA 5 months ago and I was worried about finding someone who would do a good job on my hair... Roger is the best!!!! He is very professional but also fun and his style and color blending technique is awesome. I highly recommend him!

Color = Roger! There is no one that blends colors like this man!

This salon not only rocks, but they sing! Whatever comes on, someone is giving us their rendition...creative vocal styling if you will! Roger is hilarious and the hours just fly by. The entire team is so "easy"; no stuffiness here. They have great talent and chemistry; the interaction amongst them as they work with one another to assist, teach or advise as needed is so fluid. I drive a long way to have the "wig" done, and if I moved out of state, I would fly in.

Pros: They are busy...sometime the process takes a little longer..it's worth it!

My boyfriend and I both love Chrome! Keenan King, our stylist is amazing. We have been going to him for years and are always happy with the way we leave his chair. Recently I told Keenan I wanted to change up my style and put it all in his hands doing whatever he desired. He gave me amazing bangs and color, Neither of which I ever thought would look good on me, but looked amazing! Highly recommend Keenan and Chrome, everyone who works there is professional and kind, not to mention the place has an awesome vibe!

Pros: Everyone is professional and they use professional products.
