My mom has been going to Jeff for over 20 years, I've gone to him a few times and he has always done a wonderful job with my hair.

I recently went in for a cut and color, Jeff as usual did a great job. I have never colored my hair before

I've been to many hair salons in cities across the U.S. from Chicago to Dallas. I have fine brownish-blonde hair that's ranged everything from short red to long brown. It's not an easy head to cut.

After settling in Portland about seven years ago, I've wandered aimlessly from one ok hairdresser to another. The final straw came during our recent surprise snow storm when I foolishly drove from Vancouver WA into northwest PDX to get my hair done at what City Search calls one of the top three. What a hellish experience that was... long story short, the lame L.A. transplant dude working there flaked out on me and sent me home... in a blizzard, days before New Years and a milestone birthday.

Desperate, I remembered my friend, who always looks fabulous, told me about her great experience with Jeff at J. Michael Salon... so I called. Jeff was booked, but put me in the hands of the very capable and super friendly Karen. She gave me one of the best cuts and color I've ever had anywhere, and she continues to do so.

You will love this salon and staff. It's comfortable, friendly yet professional... and the folks are passionate about their craft. You could not pay me to go into Portland ever again for my hair... or any where else for that matter!

For me, it used to be that getting my haircut was more painful than going to the dentist. Beauty school trained stylists just couldn't cut my hair. I needed someone with cutting edge technique and the latest training, and someone who would listen to what I wanted. So, about 20 years ago I found Jeff Stockton who now owns the J. Michael Salon. He is genius at what he does. My hair looks as good three months after he cuts it as they day he cuts it. Want a new style? Don't know what might look good on you? Want to eliminate the stress about a bad haircut day in and day out? Don't know who you can trust with your hair? I suggest you call Jeff.

Pros: You get a great haircut. There is plenty of parking and the salon atmosphere is not intimidating.
