OMG Burger, french fries, onion rings, fried macaroni & coleslaw are fabulous!!! Get some onion aioli & cilantro ranch for dipping your fries/burger/onion rings (their sauces are excellent!). My friends got the Pulled Pork, Hangover Hoagie & a 2 Item Combo with Beef Ribs & Brisket. Everybody was extremely satisfied with their food (soooo satisfied, we couldn't stop talking about it!!!!)! I definitely recommend this place!
NOTE: If you have to decide between the onion rings & fried macaroni, go for the onion rings!!!!!!!! They melt in your mouth!!!!!!!

Wow! This restaurant is awesome! The food was different and so delicious. They have all kinds of different California micro brewery beer, and you can get it in $2 glasses so the beer won't get cold. They had so many different flavors,

I've eaten here a dozen times and the food is usually B+/A- at best. But it is close to my home and my wife wanted BBQ.

The service was slower than usual, tables that came after us were served and had left before we received our entree. My wife had to ask where our meals were and when they arrived the chicken I had ordered was not hot, more room temperature. I told the waitress I would eat it but that she should be aware that it had obviously been sitting while my wife's ribs were being plated. Well this brought down the wrath of the owner, who accused us in a very loud and angry tone that we knew nothing about the restaurant business and were trying scam a comped meal. His exact quote was, "I bet you do this all the time" He said he would pack our food and send us on our way. When I insisted on paying he grew even angrier and said he didn't want my money. I told him I wasn't leaving until I got the bill. I paid the bill, left 20% for the waitress, and came home to write this review.

Pros: The Caesar Salad Is Great

Cons: Bad, Bad, Bad Management

We arrived at the exact time of our reservation but there were no tables. Since there isn't a bar, there was no place to wait except to stand by the entrance. With no apologies, we were asked to wait outside (in the rain) for a table to open up. We left and will not return. Are they new to the business? Why would I ever make a reservation there again when they don't take them seriously?

Pros: Some people like it

Cons: Don't honor reservations, no space for waiting

Worst ribs I've ever had. Even Chillis does a better job. Save your money and go there, at least their baby-back ribs have a catchy jingle!

This was the worst barbecue I have ever eaten. I took a chance and ordered the short ribs. They were dry and had very little flavor. My boyfriend ordered the rib combination wanting to try all three, he was happy with none of them. They were dry...no tenderness. If not for the extra sauce, he would have thrown it all away. Even the corn bread was dry. The one saving grace was their selection of beers and the cheerful waitress. Need to bury this boneyard in the graveyard.

In 30 years of travelling the midwest (incl. texas) this is hands down the most incredible bbq I have ever eaten, and that includes the backyards of some kansas city and texas folks who take their bbq very very seriously (including my own!).

We ordered several "sampler" platter of bbq dishes to feed 6 of us, and every single food item on the platter was beyond delicious. Each selection of tri-tip or rib was perfectly cooked, the fried mac and cheese was a great twist, and the bbq sauces were so good I felt a little ashamed of the way I was eating (and I do not shame easily). The cole slaw was also a new spin on an old favorite, both original and flavorful. Normally cole slaw is not really my thing, but I ate every bite. A few weeks have passed since this experience, but I still think about those ribs from time to time (not kidding).

As for the price, I can't remember exactly what the food cost because by the time the check came, I just didn't care. I would taken out a loan for another plate of those ribs. Having said that, I believe the food was reasonably priced. ;)

The service was prompt and friendly, which was a nice touch since the place was packed.

I went there last night with a girlfriend and then had to bring my boyfriend back tonight. This place has amazing food. Try the calamari, the brie nachos, the ceviche, the chopped salad...
Tonight I had the salmon which was served on a yummy bed of quinoa. My boyfriend loved his pulled pork sandwich, too. Honestly, I haven't had a thing here that I don't like!!

The atmosphere is casual cool...I don't feel like I have to dress up, but I also don't feel like I would be out of place if I did. Aaron is a great chef and spends a lot of time talking to his patrons. This place is a new favorite, for sure!

I actually had a presentation with a group of people and was looking to bring food for around 20 people. Saw this BBQ place and decided to give it a try. I am sure glad we did! The tri-tip, the ribs, the pork, the chicken, the fried mac n cheese....all EXCELLENT! Every single person who attended was commenting on how great the food was and asked "where did you get this?" Thanks Boneyard Bistro...we closed the deal!

My friend and I both Southerners decided to give Boneyard Bistro a try. We decided to share the kobe beef Classic Burger and the St. Louis ribs. They were both so good. We also had a side of the fried mac'n cheese with the hot sauce. The burger was so juicy and we added the blue cheese and it brought out the flavors of the beef and the applewood smoked bacon. The bun was so soft. The ribs were juicy and the sauce is very good. I highly recommend. We were going to get the baby backs and the chef recommended the St. Louis and it was good choice. They bring out some bread and these little corn muffins which are so good.

We arrived at the restaurant and the place was about 1/4 full. We asked if we could sit in a booth, but the host/waiter said that he had to check on the reservations. He came back and finally gave us an open table like he was doing us a favor. It took forever to get a couple of waters. However, we were pleasantly surprised to see that wine was 1/2 off with a great selection. We ordered the 1/2 Chicken with the side of collards and baked beans, and my fiance had the baby back ribs with cole slaw and french fries. I have to say that the chicken and the ribs were disapointing because they were both very, very dry. Also, the collard greens were far from green. They were absolutely terrible. The only part we enjoyed were the cole slaw and baked beans which were delicious. I have to say the main reason I went there was for the ribs, as there are not too manyu rib joints in town. But, for good ribs, I would head up the street a couple of blocks to Mr. Cecil's.

LOVE this restaurant. Boneyard is my husband and my local jaunt when we want to go someplace and know we're going to get a good meal. My husband sticks to the ribs, which are made with a dry rub, but they are served with an amazing bbq sauce for dipping. I meanwhile love the burger w/ blue cheese. I call it a crackburger. I am addicted. A self proclaimed foodie- I would say that Father's Office def. takes 1st place IF you are on the West Side of L.A.- but you must try this burger if you are in the Valley or on the way! It's my favorite in Los Angeles. The baked beans and coleslaw (usually don't care for coleslaw) are also pretty damn good. Oh yeah- make sure to start with "the wedge" salad. MMMMMMMMMMMM.

We have always had amazing service. The waiters have a good attitude, the Chef walks around making sure that his patrons are happy, and overall we have never had a bad meal or bad service. I would say it's more of $$$ than $$- but the food is def. worth it and the staff bends over backwards to make you feel at home.

Pros: Free parking in a lot behind the restaurant

So after reading some of the reviews, I recognize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Aron the chef does an amazing job all the way around in creating a chic neighborhood bbq with delicious food and fabulous ambiance. Without a reservation and a last minute decision we found available street parking to celebrate Valentines Day. I ordered the delicous smoked tri-tip medium well done to perfection and shared that with collard greens with my todder son and husband who also shared white meat chicken and four baby back ribs. All very lean. The shoestring french fries are seasoned lightly and have the perfect texture. My baked macaroni and cheese was incredible. We all loved the "saucy" bbq sauce as my son calls it. The service was impeccable and we loved meeting the chef!!! We came at dinner time and I was given a wihte rose -- thorns removed, by the hostess Nicole who was so accommodating and delightful. Our son made friends with all the people in the restaurant whcih is completely child friendly. My husband has a culinary degree, owned a caterng company and is an expert in the food industry and I love to cook. This was so much fun, delicious, and we can't wait to come back. Apparently our experience was completely different from some of the other people who posted. I have already recommended it to our family. Our waiter was great too, we served much quicker than most establishments and the food was fresh. I was also able to chew everything after having oral surgery three weeks ago! Very impressive.

this is your place! i hate writing anything bad about bbq resturants, but there's no excuse for the food we were served at boneyard bistro. we had the ribs, tri-tip and various sides. unfortunately the fried mac and cheese was the only tasty item we had. i honestly cannot believe that anyone can call themselves a bbq joint and serve these ribs. not only a major disappointment, but we walked away feeling cheated and robbed. sorry boneyard bistro, we won't be coming back for a second try.

My girlfriend and I went to Boneyard Bistro on a very hot Saturday night (over 100 degrees). We had been wanting to try it for some time, and were pleasantly surprised to see that the restaurant was only half full. We walked in and the host asked if we had reservations. We did not, so he informed us that we could only sit outside. There were at least five or six open tables, but nevertheless, we would have to sit outside in the 100 degree heat in order to eat our dinner. There were no other people waiting around for tables, so we have absolutely no idea why we were told to sit outside. Needless to say, we took our business elsewhere, and have no intention on ever trying Boneyard Bistro. Perhaps the host did not like how we were dressed (shorts and T-shirt, it is after all Los Angeles and 100 degrees!), but we were pretty offended. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the food or the ambience, but the character of the restaurant was revealed to be very deficient in our opinion.

Originally hailing from Texas, I have always been on the lookout for decent BBQ here in Los Angeles with absolutely no luck. That's why I was so pleased to eat at Boneyard Bistro, the brisket is tender and smokey and the baked beans are tasty. Don't leave without trying the fried mac 'n' cheese which is amazing. They also have a wonderful wine selection that pairs well with their food. They had other menu items for people who are not craving BBQ that looked yummy as well. The place is very small and can get quite loud. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance and grab a booth if you can. Overall, I really enjoyed Boneyard Bistro and will definitely go back again.

Pros: Great BBQ and Baked Beans, Great Wines

Cons: Loud and small restaurant

I come out recommending this restaurant because I really like certain dishes. I like the pulled pork dumplings, the calamari, fried mac n'cheese, the pork ribs, and the bbq platter. The bbq'd meats are all very tender, flavorful, and come with a wonderful bbq sauce. However, I have had the braised short ribs and found them more fatty and boney than meaty. I have also tried the lamb and it was just okay. I also thought the collard greens were lacking, as well as the beans. I am also a huge dessert lover, and really couldn't get into any of the desserts there. The wait staff is knowledgable, but somewhat unattentive at times, and one hostess was very curt with us even though we had reservations. The booths are more comfortable, but can only seat smaller groups. The restaurant is VERY loud so be prepared.

This place has a split personality -- and it works well. The BBQ, which is what we went for was very solid, but it was the "bisro" side that knocked our socks off. The duck spring rolls, King Kobb (that's how they spell it!) salad and the crispy calamari salad were great apps. The Kobe burger was outstanding and the grilled mushroom entree was the best I've ever tasted (2 large mushrooms, with fontina cheese over a potato tower). The deserts were great, too. We had a PB and Jelly bon-bon and a banana spli in a martini glass. Only downsides are noise, small space. Also GREAT wines and beers from around the world. Worth going but make a reso.

I have eaten there several times since the place opened in Oct. 2005. The beef ribs, tri tip and smoked brisket (14 hours in the smoker) are unbelievable. For the non-carnivores, try the portobello mushroom entree with mashers and carmelized onions. GREAT! Sides include baked beans, cole slaw and deep fried mac and cheese. Also check out the reasonable and inventive wine list (average price about $40 and some interresting labels -- not your ususal stuff found on the shelves of Von's) and the great beers that compliment the BBQ. Baked brie and pulled pork dumplings are great starters. There are also 3 or 4 salads that are very good. Ambiance is wonderful, but place is small so table close together. Good idea to call ahead.
