Doyle & Doyle is a great jewelry store that specializes in unusual pieces from estates and antique jewerly. They have really beautiful pieces here. I love the antique jewelry. The prices are really great too. If you purchase your jewelry here, they also do free repairs, resizing, and cleaning for your pieces. They are opened Tuesday through Sunday and take most forms of payment.

Doyle and Doyle

by Christine C. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 687

I love Doyle and Doyle's selection of antique jewelry. The pieces that I've seen here are very unique and unusual (in a good way!)--can't find them elsewhere. Everyone is very nice and the entire shopping experience is hassle free. The selection ranges from classical to extravagant. I've bought many gifts here and my friend got her engagement ring here as well. It's a family favorite and one of the best jeweler's in NYC.

jewelry falls apart and no one cares

by CNY

i recently bought a diamond band here - one that i had originally considered buying as my wedding band, and am now very glad i didn't. within 3 weeks, it was missing a diamond. i took it in to be repaired and was told someone would call within a week. a month went by and no one called, nor returned my calls about its status. finally it was ready and i got the ring back and about a month later, another diamond popped out. i took the ring back in to be repaired again and asked nicely if they would consider replacing my ring with a new one rather than repair it, since this was the second time this was happening, within only 2 months of owning the ring. what i got back was some major attitude, and a suggestion that maybe i'm just clumsy (i'm not). at this point, it's been 2 weeks, and i can't get any information from anyone as to the status of my ring, or the cost of how much it will be to repair again (should i really have to pay for this??). obviously, they don't care about their customers as much as they do about marking up the prices of their jewelry and its up-keep, some of which has character (hence the extra star), but if you were to look around, you would find the same styles at better prices elsewhere - there's a really fab guy on 47th street with beautiful things and a lot more knowledge about the history of the pieces to boot. don't bother with doyle and doyle - it's not worth the frustration of dealing with attitude.

Pros: downtown, interesting display?

Cons: bad quality, bad service

Delightful Experience.

by poptart9

I recently moved to New York and was told by several co-workers to visit Doyle & Doyle when it came time to shop for an engagement ring. My fiance and I were treated almost as royalty even though our budget was fairly modest. We were helped by one of the owners (I forget which one) who was extremely knowledgeable and saw to it that we were satisfied with our choice. I have returned on several occasions just to look at their ever-changing and unique inventory. Their prices are very reasonable and I was able to buy a couple gifts for girlfriends for Christmas. We will be going back to choose our wedding bands in the spring.

Pros: Great selection and service. If you want unique, they have it.

Cons: none

WOW

by victoria24455

Great jewelry, i love this place, it's so inexpensive, great selection too! I'll be back to buy lots more soon. I can not wait to go back. The staff are the nicest and most friendly I've ever had. They sold me so much, and so many pieces. The jewelry is actually real authentic pieces of vintage and antique wear, I know it because they said it was. I love these people they truly care about the customer and the community, they don't ever over charge and they never act strange or rude, and are such honest people. Go there now and spend some money, you'll be glad you did. Better yet, introduce your new loved ones to them and they'll be sure to appreciate the welcome, nice treatment, fair prices, and staff recommendations. What can I say this nook in the wall is TOP NOTCH!!!

Value, integrity and customer satisfaction.

by edoyle

I am one of the owners of Doyle & Doyle. I read psb240's review and I feel awful for the "friend". I would love for whoever this person may be to contact us at the store, so we can get to the bottom of their problem. I have searched all of our sales for $2800 for the past 4 months, and it turns out that they are all for rings centering a diamond set either in gold or platinum. Some are set with additional colored stones. It seems impossible that a reputable appraiser could have valued any of these pieces at $200. The only thing that I can think of is that the appraiser must have had an ulterior motive. I would really appreciate the opportunity to restore our reputation both in the eyes of psb240 and more importantly in the eyes of the customer who feels they did not get the value they deserved with their purchase. Psb240's friend please contact us at the store. We would be happy to explain our valuation process to assure you that the piece that you purchased is worth what you paid for it, and hopefully allow you to feel the same way about it as when you first picked it out.

I tried to leave this comment without any stars because rating ourselves seemed disingenuous, but I was not able to post without clicking on them.

bride and groom are very satisfied

by blingabling

I love their estate selection and the new collection is fabulous. My fiance (now husband) and I picked out a stunning wedding band from their new collection and had it made. When I saw it the night before our departure for our wedding, it was not as I remembered. We contacted them upon our return and they made sure that we were satisfied. I would definitely buy from them again.

My favorite place in the world!

by Lyim

I love this store! They have an amazing collection of jewelry-
from really weird, to outrageously beautiful, to practical and wearable. Their collection is so large that they don't have room to display it all in the show room. But the sales people are all really nice and helpful. They will bring hidden treasures out from the safe to show you. It is like going to a museum where they let you touch the art!

Pros: Awesome collection, Fun, helpful staff.

Cons: Can get very busy on weekends.

Doyle and Doyle, not helpful.

by marthapeters

I went to resize and shank a engagement ring which I got from a different store. It is platinum . That was o.k. . After the ring got shanked by Doyle and Doyle it bent exactly where they shanked it. I asked for detailed information and the women was not helpful at all. I told her the problem and she instantly said I was accusing her. I asked her what the next step was to make sure the ring did not bend again and she wouldnt answer me . I asked her for a estimation for shanking it again. She would not answer me. She said I must of banged it. I did'nt. I have only had it for a month. They really let me down. Why did'nt she tell me how much it would be? I have no idea. The moral to the story is........THEY are NO good!

best estate jewels!

by gretchenz

every time i step in to Doyle&Doyle, i absolutely love the atmosphere, from the music choices to the interior. they've recently changed it around a bit and the facelift really shows that they must be doing something right! every employee is super-informative- they know the story behind the jewelry, wether it's a style lesson or an interesting tidbit about the piece itself..i'm all for learning something to hear the story behind my purchase! i've received three gifts from the shop: a pair of earrings and ring from my husband as well as a ring from my parents. i have to admit that picked out the latter. the jewelry is displayed in different vignettes throughout the shop and it's fun to look at the combinations in the cases, as they always feature something unexpected in every case. there's lots of different price points too, so you don't have to think that you need a lot of money to get a little something special...in additon to personal gifts received, i've purchased a few gifts for friends too..and they've all been greatly appreciated. i recommend this shop above all other estate jewelers, the prices are amazing and you'll always come back to see what's new....oh! i forgot the engagement rings as well as great gifts for guys....you have to see for yourself...i'm running out of word space!

Pros: super friendly staff, great music that keeps male shoppers comfortable!

Spectacular Engagement Ring

by mayfair06

When my fiance and I began the arduous task of finding the perfect engagement ring, I knew right away that I wanted something unique and special. I also knew that I wanted a piece of jewelry that looked like it could have been in my family for years. In my quest to find just such a ring I repeatedly stumbled across Doyle and Doyle on the internet. My fiance and I found the perfect art deco, platinum, diamond ring. I was a bit wary about ordering something as important as my engagement ring online having never seen it in person but thankfully we went ahead and did it. My ring is even more spectacular in person. I am frequently asked about it by friends, co workers, or even complete strangers! Everyone thinks it is an heirloom piece, and they all say it is the most beautiful engagement ring they've ever seen. My fiance and I are planning a trip to NYC for next year and I can't wait to go to Doyle and Doyle in person.

Engagement ring shopping made easy!

by jjohnisaac

When I was ready to get engaged I started asking around about where to get an engagement ring as special as my soon to be fiancé. One name that kept coming up was Doyle & Doyle. They came very highly recommended by a number of friends who had purchased there, and it seemed that whenever I noticed a great ring inevitably it came from Doyle & Doyle. The store has, in my opinion, the best selection of antique and estate engagement rings in the city and a very wide price range. I really liked the relaxed atmosphere of the store. The sale staff was extremely helpful and patient and not at all high pressure like the diamond district. I went in a number of times before finally choosing the perfect ring. It is a small store, so at times (especially weekends) the store could get very busy. I had to wait for help on occasion, but it was worth the wait because when it was my turn I was never rushed by my salesperson. I was also told that I could make an appointment to ensure that my salesperson would be available when I arrived. Doyle & Doyle made the whole process pain free and actually very enjoyable.

Pros: Very helpful, patient staff.

Great Jewelry and Frightening Service!!!

by casatina

The jewelry at Doyle & Doyle is fine and original but the service is unpredictable. On my first visit to the store, I was sure I was going to buy my engagement ring there. However, when my fiancee made an appointment to view possible diamonds for the ring, our spaced out salesperson produced only ONE. That was only the first turn-off. When I inquired about what a copied antique ring might look like, I could not get a straight answer from two different salespeople. When I complained about the service, the owners were nonchalant. Ultimately, I went from "dying to buy a ring" to "running fast to the next jewelry store."

Jewelry 2 die 4 but staff like walking zombies!

by seret

I just got proposed to with an art deco engagement ring from Doyle and Doyle and it is beautiful!!!!! Their selection of jewelry is amazing! They don't have a big selection but they have an amazing selection! Each piece is unique, antique and completely to die for! The only quam I have with this shop is that I brought my ring in to be sized and appraised and found the girl behind the desk to be so solemn and uninviting. She didn't smile, barely said anything, much less congratulations, barely had an idea of when my ring would be back and seemed just plain blah! It was almost as if she was half asleep. My fiance said she was like that too when he bought the ring. I feel that since many people are buying engagement rings and other jewlery there for happy occassions the staff should be a little more inviting and approachable but if you could care less about customer service and are just looking for some killer jewelry then go to Doyle and Doyle!!!

The Doyle girls are REALLY nice! They were very accomodating and helpful with my selection. When I had to return my purchase (through no fault of theirs), they were very understanding. The whole experience was absolutely hassle free. I bet that's not true for many jewelers. At Doyle & Doyle, they definitely make sure that the customer is happy!!!

The owners of Doyle & Doyle have a phenomenal eye for unusual pieces of jewelry. The selection varies but it is always surprising and fun. Great Style

by GoldGumby

The owners of Doyle & Doyle have a fantastic eye for antique jewelry. Everything in their elegant store is unique and beautiful and, best of all, very fairly priced. I have bought a ring and a pair of earrings as gifts at D&D and both were an absolute homerun. Many of my friends shop there now - Doyle & Doyle seems to have something for every occasion. Seek it out if you're looking for something special - the owners are extremely knowledgable and approachable.

Pros: Great selection, Inexpensive, High quality

Cons: Hard to Find

Great Engagement Rings

by Jellis100

This is only a small store - so the selection is much more limited than one of the big jewelry stores on 5th Ave. BUT - every piece they have is beautiful and unique. If you are looking for a piece of estate jewelry - go to Doyle & Doyle.

My fiancee and I just bought an engagement ring at D&D and we just love it. The owners are helpful and there is none of the pressure that comes at some of the big jewelers.
