I made an appointment with Dr. Sarah Bernat for our 1 year old lab. He is very energetic and has had small injuries in the past. I usually take care of it, but had prior obligations so my boyfriend took him. Eddie, our dog, had a visible cut on his paw that we had tried to medicate ourselves, but it was still bothering him after a few days.

We know how costly a visit to the vet can be and wanted to wait until we knew our efforts weren't working. I called Green Acres and told them exactly what was wrong, he had a cut and wasn't crying, but wouldn't put much pressure on it. As well as he probably just needed antibiotics and pain meds (clearly this wasn't our first rodeo with Eddie injuries) Our bill has never been more than $100.

Needless to say, my boyfriend walked in and they convinced him that although the cut was completely visible... his leg MAY BE BROKEN??? Bernat then began to tug on the heart strings claiming this was the best thing to do and it was just an x-ray to check. Just an x-ray was a lie.

Our bill came to almost $400, with the majority of it paying for multiple x-rays and her $80 fee to "interpret" them. She came back to say everything was fine and it must be the cut and handed him antibiotics and pain meds, as I had originally requested.

Yes, my boyfriend should have said no to the x-rays, but where is the decency in a doctor who can visibly see whats wrong and talks someone into an unneeded treatment to raise the cost of the bill. I will not be returning to Green Acres and I suggest you don't either!

I love how my pet was treated by the staff and Dr. Parkhill today at our vet appointment. I have a very strong and playful puppy and not everyone appreciates her craziness but I felt very welcome there unlike my last vet where I got constant glares at my energetic pup. Thanks again, I will return =)

I understand the love of pets and the care that is necessary to maintain them. However, the "babies" as I have just read, not to mention the "Dr." thing really gets on my nerves...I agree with one review that maintains that the pet care is good at Green Acres, but bannerizing it, is ridiculous. The prices are indeed high and the surprise tactics are very unprofessional. It's not about getting our financial affairs in order, dears. It's about making healthcare for our "babies" affordable so that the SPCA doesn't have more
unwanted pets at the door of their organization. Where money's no concern, there must be pet families with only "purebreds" Don't make me look elsewhere...

I can think of no better place to take my "babies" to than Green Acres Animal Hospital. I do NOT think they are over priced, as stated in some of the other reviews. Can you really put a price tag on your pets life? Even if I did think they were overpriced, I would still take my pets there. The care they give the pets and the support they give the families is phenomenal. They do the best they can to keep the prices reasonable. They will give you an estimate before providing any care other than routine procedures. They are also willing to work with you to decrease the cost if needed. All you have to do is ask. I have been to other vets, but I have never been more satisfied than I am at Green Acres.

Wonderful, caring hospital!!! I've been taking my pets to Green Acres for many years and I've never been disappointed with the service. Dr. Bernat & Dr. Parkhill are very caring and very personable with my babies. Some people may think the prices are high, but the value in the service is priceless. I would never take my pets anywhere else. Christa, behind the front desk, is always happy to answer all my questions and I never feel like I'm being pushed out the door like I've experienced with other vets.

The staff is caring and the vets are great, but i have to agree that the prices are OUTRAGEOUS here. Every time we check out, the bill is a shock. I understand that all vets charge the vet fee for the honor of their presence, but $30 each for a tiny bottle of ear medication? Really?
Definitely switching vets, just wish the others on here had mentioned where they go now. :)

We have been with Green Acres for almost 6 years. When we got our boxer we bought the "puppy package", this was VERY nice, it included all his shots for the first year and the cost to get him "fixed". Our dog Scooby was very healthy other than a lump on top of his head. Dr Sarah said we would keep an eye on it and as long as it didnt grow we would be fine. Well, it grew and we decided it had to come off. Dr. Sarah did such a wonderfull job on our baby. If you see him today you cant even tell he ever had surgery. This vet is good at what she does, and she always has been kind and loving towards our boxer and respectfull to me. For those people that complain about the price..well, ya get what you pay for. If you want the best, you pay for the best! Thanks Green Acres, I'd be lost without you!!

I have been going to Green Acres for years. unfortunatly in the past 3 years we have alot of ups and down. we lost our 2 year cain corso last yearbut the staff was the best and very comforting . the fact taht they took the time to send a card and had imprinted byt zeus foot in clay was so touching and unexpected. Months later we decided to add on to the family and got our Cooper from spca who had differnat medical issues on and off through the year Dr. bernat and the whole staff was Awesome through the whole thing . Again For my oldest hudson . Dr bernet found an infected gland and when I felt the antibiotic was not working and called she got him in for surgery the very next day .. Dr bernet expalins things very well and takes the time to call and folow up on my boys all the time.. She is an angel to my boys... The staff is awesome and Loise who knows all your pets by name is so caring and hands on .. Kudos to her and her large heart! I have read messages on the pricing being high but you cant pay enough when one of your childs health is involved. Green Acres is worth it!

Dr. Kim Parkhill is the greatest vet in my eyes. The genuine concern for animals her patients and the caretakers is what makes her so special. I had an instant connection that was filled with trust, compassion, and professionalism I could just tell that she was a hard worker. The staff is above all in any veterinarian hospital or clinic that i have entered. There is a price to pay for ones that matter to you, and I sold my house to save havoc in my family. I would do it all over...

Dr. Bernat, Dr. Parkhill, Chrissy and staff saved my dog's life. I was unaware that Titan had got into mice poison at our cottage. It took a week before any signs and only 12 hrs before she would have died if Dr. Bernat hadn't figured out what was wrong. She almost died twice while she was there. She was very sick. It was a roller coaster for a week if she would make it or not. The communication, hard work and dedication was there! I can't thank them enough. I am now going to Green Acres cause Green Acres is the place for TITAN.....Thank you sooooo Much!!!!

I took my dog here last week because of problems with his back leg. I usually take my pets to the Grand Island Small Animal Hospital, but because of the bridge and traffic issues I decided to take him to Green Acres. By the way these two vet offices as well as two others are all owned by the same people. Anyway my dog saw Dr. Parkhill who is very compassionate and caring. She has a good repertoire with animals and answers all questions that you have. This is the best vet office that I've had experience with.

The team at Green Acres has consistently been wonderful and the cost of care reasonable. Even after moving 8 hours from Buffalo and establishing a relationship with a local vet I much prefer to make regular checkups and vaccination appointments at Green Acres. My local vet is twice the cost so while you may find a cheaper place in the Buffalo area Green Acres provides me a great amount of value. They may not be right for everyone but from my perspective you cannot go wrong. All options are offered and clearly explained and they take the time to answer any questions about your pets care and behavior. Talk to different people, try different places and find a vet that suits your needs. If we all thought the same one was the best there wouldn't be so many of them in business.

CARE MORE ABOUT THE MONEY THAN THE ANIMAL!! Be prepared to be shocked when you check out. The meds are so over priced, I found them on line for less than half and at other animal clinics slightly more than on line. Been lied to and cheated one to many times!! Went to another clinic and have been satisfied since.

Very good vets but VERY OVERPRICED. This place is ALL about money. They don't explain how much things cost....its a big fun surprise when you get ready to leave and pay. They know you want to help/maintian your pets health and take advantage of that. Any meds/food/supplies/tests are 3x or more then anywhere else. I understand you get what you pay for but, it way overpriced compared to others in the area.

I have been taking my Great Dane here since she was 6 weeks old and have always gotten great service. The staff knows you the moment you walk in the door and my dog loves going there. Dr. Parkhill is by far one of the best vets I have ever had to deal with. She takes the time to answer all questions and seems to bond with the animal she sees.

I have never been happier than I was with Green Acres. They were always very friendly and they loved my dog. Whenever we would go in there, they would greet her as if she was the dog they were waiting to see. Very sadly, my 12-year old became very sick a few months ago and they helped me through. They were not at all judgemental when my choice was to not put this poor baby through any more surgeries. They were extremely supportive and more than kind. When I had to euthanize my girl, they greeted me at the door and carried her in (a 65 lb black lab); they were truly so kind. A few days later, I received a sympathy card individually signed by each person at the office and a clay print of my dog's paw. They go above and beyond...

I tried this hospital once with my dog since it is closer to where I live currently. The service was adequate but not great. Don?t get me wrong, they cared for my pet completely but the staff just wasn?t as considerate and personable with me. After this experience I went back to the Millersport Small Animal Clinic.
