Chinese restaurants come and go and there are no really great ones in Park Slope. We have been going to Mr. Wonton about 3-4 times a month for years because it is close, cheap, and completely predictable. It's not gourmet, but in dozens of visits we have never had the bad food or service mentioned in other reviews. It's close enough that we would rather pick up food than have it delivered. In-house service has always been excellent. When we're too tired to cook, this is the utilitarian retreat of choice.

Went once and had the worst steamed pork bun ever. Went again (why???) and had mediocre wonton soup. I won't be going back. It's too bad - it's a great location.

I tried this food a few times and some of it was simply awful. I would just not recommend this place to anyone.

well, here we are on 11-2-09,and i've just eaten (or tried to) my second ever order from mr. wonton. first order btw, arrived an hour after i called, (and this was on 2pm on a monday) and was pretty much like eating cardboard in an extremely oversweet sauce-but i figured, what the hell,i'll give em a second try, maybe the chef had a bad day.

so my two orders of sesame chicken arrive.

and wow,where do i begin.

1. NO F*CKING CHICKEN-you read that right, conservatively,i'd estimate 90 percent breaded covering. no exaggeration, swear to god.

2. so overcooked it was like eating rocks. i was starving,so i choked down maybe 60% of the meal and mostly ate the rice,(my gf said f*ck this and made some soup, she almost puked) which was...

3. sh*tty. i could have made better rice myself if i wasnt so f*cking lazy.

i've got half a mind to call them and complain, but really, why bother,i'll just tell my friends and neighbors to take a look at the reviews on yelp, since apparently i'm not the first person to have such problems with this place.

god knows i wish someone had told me to do the same.

Pros: NONE

Cons: SH*TTY FOOD

I've had only takeout from Mr. Wonton but they're among the best of a mediocre crowd of Chinese takeout in Park Slope. Strictly standard fare (though a spicy "fireman's" beef specialty is good for the heat-inclined); appetizers, including savory disks of shrimp toast, are your best bet.

This food is decent, but it's a shame that when you order delivery you almost always get the wrong order! I reccomend the fried pork dumplings, the orange chicken/beef, and the fried rice. We will only go there and eat in, where the service is decent and it's BYO, never order delivery!
