Located on the lower level of Libery Place (17th Street side), this store has a relatively good selection of loose cards, boxed cards/invitations, gift wrapping, gifts and Vera Bradley bags. I would characterize it as a slight improvement from Hallmark, but below a store like Papyrus. They have a good variety of boxed holiday cards starting in October.

I came to Messages on a Monday night after having been there before to get gifts for my mother and sister. I like their Vera Bradley selection and was looking to purchase some pieces for gifts for my bridesmaids. I like to look around and see what they have, and have never really had a problem until a couple weeks ago. As soon as I walked over to the Vera Bradley there was an older African-American saleswoman asking me if I needed anything. I hadn't even been over there for 5 seconds! I told her that I would look around, but I pretty much knew what I was looking for. She left me alone for about a minute until she came over and started reccomending pieces for me to get.

I told her that I appreciated her help but I knew what I was looking for, but she still wouldn't leave me alone! She just kind of hung around the Vera Bradley and it was a little disconcerting. I felt like she thought of me as a shop lifter and I also felt like she was pressuring me to buy. I ended up leaving buying nothing

I usually have a good experience with most of the staff (some of them can be rude); the younger girls who work there and the manager are very friendly.

Overall I would probably go back, but I would see who's working first.

Pros: Good card selection and great Vera Bradley selection

Cons: Pushy sales people
