We had some amazing appetizers! The seafood apps and salads were wonderful. Fish entree was prepared perfectly with a shellfish-tomato broth. Even the bread is amazing - wood-fired oven - and had rosemary and salt. Wines were reasonable

I went this past Saturday and it was the absolute worst....The only thing I thought was decent was my melon ball...(I think that was the name of the drink)....The food was horrible....for the prices they do not give enough at all...Honestly its like the entrees they had made it look like they were trying to hard....I should have just went to Olive Garden..I rated 1 star but they didnt even deserve that....

I have to start off my saying our dinner here is one that will NEVER be forgotten! My friend and I went last fall and I still remember our servers.
She was like a ballerina in stealth mode--- AWESOME!
The food.. amazing. Every course had beautiful fresh flavors and defining textures.

I came here with a client outing. The company was fronting the bill, so the price wasn't an issue. I did glaze over the prices. Though it was expensive, it wasn't anything extraordinarily unreasonable. If you're looking for a fine dining experience, you have to pay the pretty penny!

the white truffle oil pizza is great and most of the other food is good. if you can deal with the worse service in the city and equally bad excuses, than this is your place....

they like to seat you at the bar for a drink before your table is ready, meanwhile there are plenty of empty tables, they are just trying to boost their bar sales.....

good luck finding the manager too!!! once you find him he is a great guy, but you must find him first.

if they are busy it may take for ever to get your bottle of wine because the manager is the only person that can go to the wine cellar to get your wine......make sure you order and get your wine before you order your food otherwise you will be eating before your wine even is brought to the table...

I had a drink with my 2 friends at the bar before being seated. The staff was very helpful and courteous. We started with the carcofi salad and the burrata. We then had the branzino, vitello, and the tagliatelle. The entrees were cooked to perfection and the desserts were amazing. This is the restaurant to go to if you are looking for a great atmosphere and great Italian food.

A very nice, quite and romantic place to take your partner to for a special occasion. The Italian food was so Italian that I could close my eyes and imagine to be in Sicily or Milan. The service was excellent and the prices are reasonable. The whole dinner was an experience that I definitely will need to repeat. Two thumbs up for Bottega!!

A bit out of the way, but worth it if you find yourself in that part of town. I am not part of the young and hip, but I like going to LaBottega. The atmosphere is nice and it is not too noisy. if the weather is good the outdoor area is to die for. And I love the food. The truffle oil pizza alone is worth the trip. Not like any other pizza I have ever had, it is round and has cheese but other wise has little in common with pizza It is light and delicate and amazing. The other dishes on the menu are all imaginative and each one comes out perfect.

I love tirimasu, but the tirimasu at La Bottega is a whole other story. the expected tastes in a light and airy dish.

The service is always friendly and attentive but never in the way.

A terric place to relax and eat wonderful food.

This was a great restaurant. Many times when visiting a big city, people tell you that "there are lots of good restaurants' but you always happen to find the worse. Not the case with La Bottega. The service was great and the food was unusually tasty. The crowd was lively and the location was a short distance from the subway.

Interested in Italian food with a difference, then this is your place. The goat cheese pizza appetizer with truffle oil was unique and very tasty. Main courses have great presentation and taste. For a hotel restaurant this was one of the best I have been to. The bar also had a good selection of beer and other drinks.

The La Bottega Restaurant provides an excellent alternative to standard Italian Restaurants. It has a great atmosphere, a good menu and excellant service. You will feel very comfortable when dinning at this restaurant. There is something for everyone on the menu. I found the prices to be compatible to other restaurents in the area. It is definately a place to enjoy a great meal.

Relaxed but elegant atmosphere with upscale, eclectic twists on a traditional menu. A perfect mix of a chic hangout with elegant menu options. Try the black linguini for a special dinner ,or go by for some unique pizzas for lunch, you won't be dissappointed.

I always stay at the Maritime Hotel when in New York on business/pleasure and eagerly look forward to dining at La Bottega. The service is very friendly, fast, and efficient. For breakfast I throughly enjoy the yogurt/granola/fresh fruit and for lunch the thin crusted pizzas cooked in their wood oven are always delicious. The varied dinner selections are always fantastic and go well with any of their marvelous wines. Their patios is a great place to enjoy a leisurely meal (summer or winter). Plus, there is the bonus of perhaps seeing a celebrity or two!

The restaurant had a really nice atmosphere for our dinner get-together involving 8 persons. The veal vitello was really nice and the prices were reasonable. The nice atmosphere probably contributed to our lingering and talking for quite a time after we had finished our meals.

With both indoor and heated outdoor dining, La Bottega is a cozy and intimate spot on a cold night. The menu is newly designed featuring some really innovative Italian dishes not seen in other places. The black linguini rocks!! A great bar and gathering spot, I dine at Matsuri every time I visit NY and am never disappointed.

I recently stayed at The Maritime Hotel in Manhattan. One of the higlights of my visit was dining at La Bottega. Starting with the ambiance all the way to the end, the experience was exquisite. Their wines, appetizers, main course, and desserts all left me wanting more. One thing if for sure, next time i'm in Manhattan I will be dining at La Bottega.

We had the pleasure of rediscovering La Bottega when our recent inclement weather kept us close to home. The atmosphere was cozy, a great retreat from the snow, and we were quickly seated. I started with the fava bean and escarole salad which was fresh and clean tasting with lemon and mint, I could eat it everyday. The strip steak was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and tender, and came with flavorful spinach with mushrooms. My partner's pork chop came with a just sweet enough pomegranate reduction and was accompanied by creamy polenta (I am ordering that next time). I ended my meal with a generous portion of tiramisu that could have used just a touch more coffee or chocolate. The couple seated next to us was sharing a pizza with prosciutto that I can't wait to try, along with an interesting sounding raw artichoke salad. The service was attentive, and helpful with suggestions and in describing dishes. Overall, we had a great experience and will be returning soon, considering ourselves lucky to be in the neighborhood!

I booked dinner for my boyfriend and I on Open Table kinda last minute, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best to find a cute little place we could call our own with only a few internet pictures as my guide. From the pictures I saw online, it seemed like it would be cozy and romantic, and upon arriving I was pleasantly surprised that for once, I got what I was expecting from on online source.
The restaurant was dimly lit with candles everywhere and accented with red roses on every table. It smelled amazing as soon as we walked through the door and the pleasant hostess sat our reservation right away. We took the option to have the four course pre-fix, which was tasty, whimsical and totally worth it. I'm kinda a foody and hard to please, but everything was thoughtful and delicious. The parsnip puree with truffle oil was really decadent and accented with a little pomegranate. Then there was a cocoa powder cracked pepper pasta that was surprisingly good. Everything tied in really well to the next course, and I especially liked the encrusted lamb with pomegranate sauce and potatoes au gratin, the sauce was perfect! Our meals came with a free glass of wine, and ended with long stemmed chocolate covered strawberries and "cookies and milk", delicious fresh baked Italian cookies with a frozen milk dip. It was so cute and charming, and we had a very romantic evening. We will certainly be back for date nights and to try the regular menu. I also can't wait to come back in the summer and sit out on gorgeous the patio! I can't believe we only just discovered this place, but now that we have, we're sure to be regulars.

This place is an embarrassment to the word "hospitality." We were seated without trouble only to be shuffled to another table because we were mistakenly put at a "reserved" spot. We proceeded to play musical tables with another group of people (who were also just as irritated by the ill-planned move). Because it was frightfully chilly that night, we asked if they had any hot coffee or hot liquor drinks. We were told very rudely by our server that there was no coffee in the entire establishment. Twenty minutes later, our neighboring table was being poured two cups of piping hot Joe. When asking the server to bring us coffee (because we saw that it did exist), she replied with, "It's a pain to get it, but OK."

After having 2 other friends join us, we were then rudely again asked to move to ANOTHER table because now we had too many for this particular spot. I told them we were not moving due to already being shuffled around and given poor service. I was met with some arbitrary threat about getting a ticket from the department of health. After yet another rude threat from someone I think was a host (but looked like a 17 year old boy with a mullet and skinny jeans), I stated that in the time they took to argue with us about our seating, we could have been finished with our drinks and left already.

We didn't move. They didn't bother us again. And I wouldn't suggest going there unless you're prepared to battle for your spot and your booze.

La Bottega is my favorite restaurant in Chelsea. The food is consistently good. The robiola pizza is incredible. The crust has a light, chewy texture thats PERFECT, the robiola cheese melts in your mouth, and the luxurious truffle oil makes this place worth going back to again and again. EVERYTHING on the menu is great, salads are always fresh, everything is delicious. The service is OK. The servers themselves are extremely nice, but sometimes a little disorganized. They have the BEST outdoor terrace. If you go in the evening it will be crowded and the service might lag a little so dont go if youre in a rush. Its a nice place to relax, sit outside, have some wine and food and chat with friends. The atmospehere is relaxing and not pretentious. The trees and lanterns make the place feel like a park instead of a restaurant. HIGHLY recommended for lunch and/or happy hour.

Seriously. Best ever. The lounge upstairs called La Cabana is nice and has a chill atmosphere. No one will ever be dancing on tables there but sometimes it's nice when everyone is civilized. The music is great. A good place to go when you want a scene but, sort of a chill, relaxing scene.

I love their pasta and pizzas. They are not heavy or greasy at all. Forgot the name but their black squid pasta is really tasty. There's outside area you can sit which gets really crowded during the summer but I prefer inside. It's alot nicer and seats are more comfortable. Waitresses are all nice.

I had my girlfriend's birthday party last saturday and we had a blast. The restaurant inside is very cozy from the cold weather, the smell of the wood burning in the brick oven creates a great aroma. We were a group of 20 and were treated amazing as soon as we checked in with the hostess and the manager showed us to our table. The appetizers were great, definitely recommend the Salmone Marinato and the Robiola pizza, service was great, very friendly staff.

the ambience for the outdoor seating in 90 degree weather was terrific. it's a terrace seating and you can't go wrong with this choice as far as ambience is concerned. Food was alright while service was not good. Our waitress forgot to bring our bread out and never bothered to check up on us after the meal was delivered hence it took forever to get additional stuff since there was noone to ask. the food was average and coming from San Francisco italian food there is terrific. The next day in little italy i realized how charming and yummy some of the food was and had wished we had skipped Bortega. But it's good if you want to check out Hiro downstairs and the rooftop bar Cabanas upstairs, both of which we couldn't as we were rushing to check out the night view from Empire state bldg.

The outside seating is lovely and the menu looked great. The waiter was unpleasant from the start. He brought out salads with entrees and then gave us a dirty look after we flagged down another server (as he did not come back to the table once to check on things) to take our cold pasta back to get reheated. At the same time on friends entree did not come out at all. When hers finally did come out we were still waiting for the cold pasta to come back from the kitchen. He was very rude and made what could have been a great meal very unpleasant. I had figured a place with such a good reputation would want to know about it when bad service was taking place. I called the general manager twice with no response.....guess I was wrong.

I enjoyed the most delicious meal here recently under the umbrellas in the outdoor dining area. I dined with a friend who lived in Italy for a while, and he commented that it was some of the most authentic - and tasty! - Italian food he's had since returning to the city. It's a great place to enjoy a warm summer night, and grab something to eat before heading to the Cabanas upstairs for cocktails and dancing!

I went to La Bottega after work for drinks on a Thurs nite and had a great time. The bartender, Nicole, is top-notch. She not only mixes a fine Lychee martini, but is just a cool chick. I stayed for another (amazing) French martini and sat at the bar with my friends. Yes, the drinks are a tad pricey, but I had top shelf martinis and this is nyc... so no complaints. The outdoor space is very cool with the little umbrella'd tables... a nice warm break in the summertime from the a/c. my friend and I were able to hop in and out from the bar to the patio drinks-in-hand, no problem. I'll definitely be back to sample the food. the pizza smelled deelish.

Everything my friend and I ate was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The branzino was super fresh. The chicken under the brick was simply wonderful. Delicious soup and carpaccio. Desserts were also nice, but could use a more fancy dress. The service was more than adequate. Grace was a stellar server. The drinks could be better with some better garnishes. The prices are very fair given it's neighborhood. P.S. The patio is a beautiful space to sit and enjoy the company of friends at a leisurely pace that is very inviting. Chef Chris D'Amico gets kudos for making sure that the food come at a pace that doesn't make you feel harried in a place that is rocking busy on most nights.

I tend to go to the two "lounge-style" bars upstairs because they are open-air, spacious, and always full of people. One bar of the two bars is a little more enclosed. You can walk from the right bar to the left bar and gaze at people munching and talking under the umbrellas in the at the open-air restaurant space on the lower level. However, no Corona or Becks... you will have to settle for a Sol. The two lower level bars have booths for large groups. The wine list is limited but good; I recommend the Nebbiolo. Pizza is also good. (I did see a lamb dish that was passing by that smelled and looked fantastic.) Overall the architecture of the space makes it unique, reminds me of the hot evenings in Miami. It's good for a laid-back first date or for a gathering of friends interesting enough to converse.

I really love La Bottega. I try to go at least a few times each month. I highly recommend the nightly fish specials. They are always very creative and lovely on the taste buds. My other favorite is the Chicken Under a Brick. Yes, the staff is very pretty to look at, but to say they are the worst watiers in Manhattan is just a lie. I've noticed marked improvement in the service over the past few months. I'd rather have great food, amazing atmosphere and OK service than the reverse. It ain't the Four Seasons restaurant folks... and why would anyone want it to be!

I went with three friends on a slow (Monday) night, which may have accounted for the excellent service we received. Never an empty glass or stomach, and plates were cleared quickly. The appetizers were decent, nothing special, but all three entrees we ordered, plus a pizza to share, were incredible! I had the main chicken dish, "cooked under a brick", and its crispy skin and amazing succulent deliciousness made me get all emotional. Prawns, as well as the bolognese pasta sauce were also remarkable. The wine list is ample.

The ambience is nice, but the service rather shoddy. Everyone seemed confused. I had to ask for my wine three times, and I noticed several tables around had not been bussed for over 30 minutes.
Good for brunch, though - less packed and more relaxed. Nice menu - solid basic Italian food - but nothing to call home about.

I have been here many times for drinks. It is a great Chelsea oasis, where there's plenty of room to sit outdoors, have pricey drinks and smoke, if you choose. Staffed and populated by America's Most Beautiful Model rejects, along with their usually older companions, it is also a place to sight an occasional celeb or two. The food menu is extensive, but almost seems like an afterthought with hit-or-miss dishes and uneducated servers. Ingredients here seem top-notch: perfect olive oil, olives, fresh greens, fish and meats, etc. And for the most part, what comes from the kitchen is delicious. But there're also disasters, like the beefaroni taste-a-like bolognese. I say, stick with the salads, small plates and the great pizzas, enjoy your drinks, but for go elsewhere for perfect Italian food.

As beautiful as the Maritime Hotel is, La Bottega sucks. I went for lunch: the food is mediocre and the cocktails are disgusting-- but it's the rude service that is the most unacceptable and unforgettable. The restaurant is overstaffed but the waiters are not interested in serving. Getting someone to come over to take your order, clear your plates, provide silverware: the basics, is very difficult. I will not return.

After being seated by a wannabe model, we were left abandoned at our table with nothing but menus and empty glasses. We couldn't even get a bus boy to bring us water even though I counted about 10 of them rearranging utensils on empty tables because they had no direction. It took about 15 minutes before we finally got fed up and left. We ended up going to a wonderful Italian restaurant in the East Village which cost us about 1/2 what we would have paid at La Bottega

If you go to La Bottega, you will most likely sacrifice good service for ambience. When will the owners learn that it's better to have a restaurant with GOOD and CONSISTENT service and food, rather than a hip crowd and cute waitstaff. I have been here more than 10 times, because I like the ambience - but I will never go here for the service. There were tables waiting 30 mins to be bussed, and none of the tables were well maintained. When it becomes slow and no longer the "it" place, don't expect to see many people trying to get in the door for the sub par service and good, but un-original "italian" fare. PS they need new menu items - they're getting old!

La Bottega is probably the best example of what is happening in this part of town. Huge restaurant where eating is not recommended. Go there for a cigarette and a drink or two but stay away from the less than average italian muddle. If you're hungry, stay away!!!!

enjoyed la bottega immensely. seated promptly; while waitstaff seemed confused as to what they should be doing (one actually looked at my partner's mojito and asked if she had 'put her dinner in the glass'), our waiter appeared experienced. food was great: arugala salad was absolutely delicious; the veal was tender and breaded appropriately; the desert of cheesecake was perfectly creamy and sweet. waiter made good selection with house wine, though the cocktails could use help (apple martini lacked any apple flavor and a mojito simply wasn't the best)... but when the $180 bill came for two people, i was more than happy to pay. great time, trendy but relaxed scene, especially in the summer.

CAUTION: Do not cut across the dining room to go to the restrooms. You run the risk of having 3 aging funksters tackle you. You must go downstairs and outside the building to come back inside. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!
Feels more like a club than a restaurant.
The service is horrendous. The staff is inexperi3nced and they wander around not knowing what to do
The food was actually good, but I was so aggravated by the time it came I could barely enjoy it

I've been four times and the experience has been different each time. Both the food and wine menus are well varied by price allowing you to upscale/downscale your experience accordingly.

The hostesses (all) are very comely, especially the one in the Pocahontas bootsand the crowd runs the gamut including schoolgirls (in uniform no less), ex-pat Italians and aging pedes in search of their next score.

Standouts include Barbaresco (by the glass), grilled sardines, savory lamb shank and an orechiette with enough garlic to ward off you most ardent admirers. However, avoid the pasta at all costs as this is one Italian restaurant that needs to learn the meaning of al dente.

Bottega has such a great ambience, that the menu is a disappointment. The food is far from BAD, but every item on the menu is missing the key ingredient that would link the other potentially evocative ingredients together. The waitress was extremely pleasant and eager to help, especially considering how busy the restaurant was at the time. Management or one of the many busboys should have been monitoring the tables more closely to ensure consistency - we had to ask for olive oil for the flatbread, when it was on nearly every other table as well as salt and pepper. I hoped the salt and pepper might also arrive, but my hopes were lost.

When we put our name in, we were told the wait would be 45 minutes. 45 minutes later, when we asked the status, we were told they had no idea when they could seat us. 45 minutes after that (1.5 hours after we put our name in), they still hadn't served us. After giving us attitude, we were finally seated.

Once seated, however, the wait was not over. There was no waiter to be seen. Finally, we noticed two of the waiters fighting over who had to take our table.

On a positive note, the food was excellent. If the restaurant can work out the service-related kinks, it should do well, but I will probably follow the 6-months rule and wait until they have been open for 6 months before returning.

We are so excited by the new restaurants opening up in the area. First Bivio, now La Bottega (or the other way around). La Bottega has the look and feel of Pastis, but it has much more of a casual, laid back feeling. The wait staff is terrific as is the food. Crowd is good, although we are afraid that may change as word of mouth spreads and the weather get warmer (outside garden). Oh well...it's nice to have a few new good restaurants to choose from.

A group of my friends gathered at La Bottega last night for a birthday celebration.......we were all disgusted with the service.

The bus boy spilled water on 4 out of the 6 people in the party and was irritated when we asked for additional napkins. The hostess had such an attitude problem that she literally threw our coats at us at the end of the night...saying that they do not usually bring peoples coats to the table. This was only after another staff memeber had taken our coat check tickets from us while we were still seated...

The server was pleasant and was constantly apologizing for the behaviour of the others.

The bottom line is the food is good, the atmoshpere is great, but with attitude like that we certainly will not return nor recommend this restaurant. It is unfortunate because it does have potential to be a great.

Subway tile, wine bottles and antique mirrors lend this buzzing spot an Italian brasserie feel, where the top choice is the first-rate thin-crusted pizza. But if you look past the pies---perhaps with the exception of the quattro stagioni…
