The best thing is its flavourful food and great and quick service. Try the fluffy and delicious naans, and the chicken tikka masala. Give this place a try because u wont regret it, they have deliveries on foodler, and they deliver fast

Pros: quality, traditional indian food, good, quick service

Cons: none

Gourmet Curry House has a reasonably priced buffet for lunchtime. The buffet has your usual chicken dishes, lots of vegetable dishes, and naan. It isn't a bad deal but also isn't anything spectacular.

i live .25 miles from this place, and i had never been, so my sister and i decided to try them out via foodler. the delivery took an hour for our samosas, naan, two entrees, and rice. everything was ice cold and we had to reheat all of it before eating...then, my aloo mutter had absolutely no sauce or flavor. my sister's saag paneer had no cheese in it. the aloo naan was floppy and soggy, and as far as i could tell contained no potato. the only redeeming item was the samosa, which was as good as what i have had at fast food indian places. we will definitely avoid this place and i recommend you avoid it too!

Just to be clear to be fair to the owners of Gourmet India, the last two reviews shown here (based on the date) appear to be with respect to Gourmet Curry House. According to my memory (and I live right in the area) Gourmet India sold that location at the start of May 2008. I still visit their other location in the Pru and in Burlington and have nothing but positive things to say. I have been tried Gourmet Curry House and agree that their food is sub-par, if that.

one of the poorest food quality i have ever seen..and not to mention the very unfriendly atmosphere...especially of the man and also sometimes the lady who serves at the counter... sometimes meat and vegetable is stale and spiced up to keep the stench out..! Strictly avoid it ..! go to kashmir (newbury street) or rani instead.(just two shops ahead on beacon street)

Not sure if we caught them at the end of the shift but sorry guys I really wouldn't recommend. The chicken tikka massala was watery and the meat was very poor. The naan bread was overcooked and soggy at the same time. Although the other reviews say that it's good for the price I have to disagree. Avoid at all costs.

Get in line and order at the counter from an array of pre-made entrees, I started with the Chicken Tikka Masala and Potatoes Curry. You get two cup fulls of each and a good sized fluffy naan. Dining room is open-brick, high-ceilinged and modern, grab a table or bench and you're ready to chow down. The Tikka Masala was ok, the sauce was pretty bland and the chicken cut up for a stew. The curried potatoes were also ok, but lacking in spiciness. Best part of the meal was the fluffy naan! Overall just an ok place for Indian but it may be as good as you get in the Boston area. Not a bad choice for a quick lunch or dinner but they need to be a bit more aggressive with the flavoring.

Pros: Fluffy Naan

Cons: Food needs more spices, Grumpy counter lady

My husband and I love to pick up takeout at Gourmet India. The dining room is loud and normally very busy so we prefer to take the food home. I find the food to be comparable to some other indian restaurants in the area for only a fraction of the price. Highly recommended.

Pros: affordable, variety, fast

Cons: small portions

I feel like the quality of Indian restaurants in the Boston area is going down in general, and so I was pleasantly surprised that this relatively cheap self-service joint had pretty good food. The dishes I have had here compared favourably with those of places like Bombay Club, Kabob'n Curry and Bukhara... for about half the price. Other than lunch buffets, I really have no reason to go anywhere else for Indian food other than Gourmet India. One word of caution... the quality (esp. the texture of meat) varies from time to time, sometimes pretty bad. But I guess that comes with the territory of cheap cafeterias where food just sits all day.

I've been to most of the Indian restaurants in Boston. I recently tried Gourmet India in Coolidge Corner and now can't seem to justify paying the high prices at other restaurants. My meal was delicious and plentiful...and I didn't even spend 10 bucks. The people there are rather friendly as well. I highly recommend others check it out.

Actually, the 1st reviewer is right, you get what you pay for. BUT, if you're in a hurry for lunchtime and in the Coolidge Corner area, you can get a two-course veggie lunch for only $4.50! There are many Indian restaurants better in the area, but when you are on a budget and craving Indian food, this place is where you go. The service is quick and friendly, the decor is ok, and the veggie daily specials are usually your best bet. This is as close to "fast food Indian" as you will get! It comes recommended.

Gourmet India IS GREAT! Don't listen to that guy who claims he knows whats good because he is Indian. If you have a big appetite and you want to eat fast go here. Gourmet India has awesome food at great prices and the people there are really nice. The Chicken Tikki Masala is the best dish there...YUMMMMM. Gourmet india deserves all of the great reviews it has already been getting.

After reading the ratings we decided to try Gourmet India. We weren't impressed. The saag paneer tasted like month old spinach and the server only gave us one piece of paneer. He wasn't receptive when we politely asked for a more reasonable portion (so he gave us two more pieces...wow) Once we did taste them, they had no flavor and were rubbery. The chicken korma was over-powered with too much cardamom. The chicken tikka masala was decent while the samosas could have been more flavorable. The good items were the naan and the mango lassi. Service was poor, but the atmosphere was good for the "fast food" type. This is coming from an Indian, so take my advice and pass this restaurant up...plenty of better restaurants to go to. Prices are reasonable for an Indian restuarant, but this is truly an example of "you get what you pay for."

Authentic home cooked North Indian food (and several South Indian specialties as well on the weekend....)

Highly recommend this for freshness, authentic flavors, and value for money.
