I love, love, love, love Eden Alley. I've been dining here for 10 years. My husband who is a steak and potatoes kind of guy doesn't mind it either (although he wishes they would get some organic beef or chicken on the menu lol!). The must-try dishes are:

- hummus and pita appetizer
- Betty Bailey Berry Salad
- Ultimate Garlic Grilled Cheese
- any of their fresh juices (I had an apple/carrot juice that was awesome)
- any of their weekly specials (I loved their Indian daal).

Everything is fresh, local and organic. They can do gluten-free or vegan meals too. They have great cakes as well. They are kind of pricey, but it's totally worth it. Go to restaurant.com to buy cheap dining certificates!

PS. They have an awesome kids menu too!

You wouldn't think that a restaurant in the basement of a church would be good, but Eden Alley is definitely the exception. This is a vegetarian restaurant that is like eating in someone's house. They have great food with different specials all the time. Inexpensive. I am telling you, try it out, I promise you, it will become your favorite local spot. It is wonderful!

Eden Alley is where I always go when I visit KC. My first visit was motivated by the need to eat something heart-healthier than steaks and pork barbecue. Since then I've gone back numerous times, because the food is delicious and interesting and the service is friendly and efficient. The portions are large and the ingredients are fresh. What more can I say? If you haven't tried this place, you're missing out.

Pros: inexpensive, fresh combinations, real food

Eden Alley was wonderful. I enjoyed I wonderful meal that was fairly inexpensive for gread vegetarian food. The employees were VERY knowledgeable and friendly. There is also an awesome gift/bookstore attached. The restaurant is in a great location on the Plaza! I would highly recommend Eden Alley.

it's located in the unity temple basement on the plaza. the hours suck but the food is great! very healthy and filling. prices are high for just vegetables.

bluebird cafe on summit WAS formerly a vege restaurant but now they serve BEEF and still try to pass it off as a v-restaurant. eden alley is the only v-restaurant in town.
