The St Louis Philharmonic Orchestra is a geat orchestra made up of local volunteer musicians from the St Louis area. Dr. Robert Hart Baker is the conductor and is a wonderful conductor. He doensn't even live in St Louis but flies in every week for rehearsals. The orchestra puts on about 5-6 regular concerts per year as well as a couple of "pops" concerts in late summer and around Christmas. They play the real music, not watered down versions of the classics, and have big name soloists that perform with them like David Halen, the concertmaster of the St Louis Symphony. Season tickets can be had for reasonable donation amounts. Admission to individual concerts is "free" but donations are highly encouraged - and hey, these musicians aren't getting paid and the money from tickets just goes to cover the costs of the orchestra so I always try to be generous. This organization is a treasure in our community and is worth catching a concert or two every year. You can check out their website at http://www.stlphilharmonic.org/ for more info.
