Service was unbeatable, very attentive staff and quick. Food had additional touches that set it apart from traditional Chinese places, but was a slightly smaller portion with no extras such a tea and egg roll. Atmosphere is very tastefully decorated in upscale Chinese.

The lunch menu is priced slightly higher than other Chinese places, but it is worth the couple of dollars extra for the five star service and atmosphere.

I drive from Grand Blanc, MI to eat at this place, this is what great Chinese food taste like.
The service is great.
I absolutely love the hot and sour soup; this is the kind with lots of mushrooms, pork, sprouts, etc. in it, and it has just enough spice to clear your head. I bring home extra orders. The General Tso's/House special chicken is perfect; it's spicy with lots of veggies and the breading is very thin. The pork fried rice has a lot of flavor without being salty and the left overs/extra orders heat up really well. The chicken and mixed vegetables is anything but boring, lots of flavor and just enough crunch in the veggies, all white meat and no bits of fat. The sweet and sour pork is really good and again, they get the sauce and the breading just right, it's not soggy, the breading is not really thick, and the sauce is not sugary. The spring rolls have lots of flavor, while being light and not greasy.
I will say this for Gourmet Garden; whether I went to Rochester Hills (now closed) or the Farmington Hills location, I have never had poor service or a bad meal. The prices are very reasonable and if you go for lunch it's a deal.
We love it so much that the last time we went on vacation and flew out of Metro, we made sure to eat here before we left and on our way home!
