Wow, that's surprising to hear those negative experiences, I was operated on by one of thier Dr about 6 yrs ago, no other eye Dr in the area would touch me, I had a broken orbit bone and the eye and muscle sank under my lid and I was only 25 at the time, he told me thier was a high chance that I would never be able to have normal eye function again....he did an amazing job u couldn't tell the axident ever even hapened and I thought the Dr was so nice and understanding, unfortunately I had a lower lid lift and my same eye is now doing something very strange so I will be traveling from nc to hopefully have them work thier magic again, I prey nothing has changed with thier Dr experience. The Dr that treated me for the eye area was Dr Eyelift and the Dr that treated me for broken nose was Dr manson from johnshopkins reonstructive surgery surgery. Booth amazing Dr's....my nose looks better now then before it was broken.

I have Fuchs dystrophy. I went to Wilmer at Jhopkins as a friend with FUCHS lost one eye when cats removed. Dr. Starke was very nice, so was the hosp ital. He removed cat in right eye and immediately I was able to see very well. I asked when he could do left eye. He said if I could stay till next week he would do it then.I live in Florida. I stayed but afterwards I did not see very well.I thought it would get better but it continued to irritate me. Lights bothered me too. Dr. S had done corneal transplants for my sister and was doing a genetic study, which is probably whey he took me. In any event I now see an excellent eye dr here,
Dr. Kutryb. He said thata light bother me because when Dr. S
removed the cat he nicked my eye and light goes right thru and I should just keep wearing my sun glasses. I asked why not go back to Dr. Starke and ask him to fix it. He said I would just have to live with it as it cannot be fixed.

I went to Wilmer for a retinal detachment which turned out to be the worst decision I ever made. I chose Wilmer on the reputation of the hospital itself and supposedly having the best doctors in the world. I ended up having 3 surgeries back to back which resulted in distorted vision. On top of the bad surgeries the bedside manner was horrific. When going in for my second surgery and now very nervous about going blind I was told by the doctor, "that's life." This was not the only bad bedside manner I encountered but it is too much to go into. Because I was not ready to give up on vision I went to a hospital in DC where my the doctors were so much better in skill and bedside manner. In my opinion the days of Wilmer being the best are long gone.

I had gotten a severe eye infection that caused me alot of distress and pain. The medication my regular doctor prescribed gave me no relief. So instead of going to a regular emergency I took advantage of the emergency services offered at Wilmer. The intake process was quick and then I was able to go upstairs. The office was comfortable and not to bright which can irritate a person having eye problems.the doctor was very professional and did a very through exam which involved some pieces of small machinery I had never seen before, come to find out I was misdiagnosed and should not have been using any drops in my eyes at all.Following the doctors advice and then doing a follow-up visit let to much needed relief for me.I appreciated the speedy service and expertise of doctors. Would highly recommend to anyone in Baltimore area.
