I had a terrible experience at the Poplar location. Moved here from Saint Louis and was looking for an upscale salon experience. Instead, it was like getting my hair cut at a daycare (and the children running around were the staffs, not the clients). The environment was awful and unprofessional. I will always advise people not to go here.
I have put up with this salon for over 8 years because they have some of the best stylists renting booths. The actual staff of the company are some of the most incompetent individuals I have ever encountered in the retail industry. More times than I can count, I've made an appointment for a cut and color only to arrive and find no such appointment exists. Everything from computer error to incompetent staff has been cited. Only when I called the stylist on her cell phone do I get seen. To recap, the stylists are wonderful but the business stinks!!

I made an appt w/the location off Poplar for nails on 8-1-09 at 2pm after having been told that they use Creative Nail products. I showed up at 1:45, and was told that my appt would not be honored because the nail tech had a standing 2pm. The obsequious toad that manages the desk said that he could offer me a "slight discount", but that there was nothing they could do because my appt would have to come after the standing appt was done. Then, when I finally get to the tech's table, they don't use the products that I asked about and after the tech had cut my nails down, she tells me that she cannot do my nails, and that because I have allergies it just wouldn't be right to do my nails. Oh, ok, now I get it - I sit and wait for 45 minutes, you cut my nails down and now you tell me that you cannot do my nails - impressive. Out of 6 people that showed up for 2pm appts, only 1 actually was honored at the appropriate time. I've recently moved here from ATL and find this mgmt style to be incomprehensible and unacceptable. If the desk personnel cannot make appts in the appropriate manner, and if they cannot answer questions about svcs offered by the salon, they should not be on the desk - they should get a technician to answer questions regarding products and services because lying to customers is unacceptable and unprofessional. I find it deplorable that the "desk manager" is the only management staff available and that his only means of communicating with clients is to be a condescending, obsequious swill spouting toad that does not know what the true issue is. If new clients are treated in this manner, I would hate to see how they treat their repeat clients - I for one will tell everyone that I know or that I meet about my disappointing, disasterous, unsettling, condescending experience with this unprofessional salon. It will become my mantra that this salon is certainly not worth the exorbitant prices they believe they are worth. I'd like to buy them for what they are really worth, and sell them for what they believe they are worth - I could make a fortune! One thing that they forgot at this salon - an ounce of pretention is worth a pound of manure! And they are truly pretentious! I would not give them half a star!
I have had very nice experiences with Gould's Day Spa. They have wonderful packages, including spa packages with massages and lunches catered from the Deli next door. The receptionists are always friendly and the stylists are always up to date with new styles and suggestions. They carry Aveda products too. Great salon!
PROS: Great stylists, friendly serene environment
I have never had such a horrible experience in a Day Spa!\r
Went into a massage that a 5 year old could have done in a cold tiny room. Then put into a coat closet for lunch with a glass of water and 1/2 of a lousy sandwich. Next to a manicure that lasted 10 minutes(didn't even put a base coat on) then on to the pedicure chair. Sat there 20 minutes until I called someone to please find the girl (same one that did my manicure). The pedicure lasted 10 minutes as well. I tried to tell the peole at the desk when I was leaving how horrible of an experience i had just had an they of course shrugged it off.\r
I am not a complainer but when you spend 150. for a spa treatment and you leave more stressed than when you got there, someone needs to complain.\r
BEWARE OF THEIR SPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
