I have had several bad experiences with Dean's over the recent past. I made the mistake of buying a propane stove there. It often takes me 20 minutes to get through to someone, where they check and have to recheck information. I made an appointment for a servicing for a Saturday, waiting 6 weeks for that appointment. I called the day of the appointment. Someone finally answered and said they did not see my appointment! They said someone would get back to me and no one ever did. I called and have tried to speak with the owner, leaving two messages. No reply. This is just one terrible experience in a line of many. I made the mistake of getting a service plan when one new employee shored up my confidence briefly, only to be shot down again. Go elsewhere!

The worst! I bought a wood stove from them with installation for over $5,000.00. Smoke often fills the house. I've been told they should have installed the pipe at 45 degrees not 90 degrees and that is part of the problem. I've called Dean and left numerous messages. He never returns your calls. The service manager is arrogant and thinks he owns the place. They Quote prices to you and then don't honor them. They make appointments to come out and don't honor them. I just read another review where the house burnt down after a stove they installed. I wish I read it before buying from them!

We had a great experience from the moment we walked in the door until a few weeks later when the new fireplace insert arrived. It has been used almost daily since then. The workmanship was great and everything that was promised was delivered upon.

They failed to install my stove or flue correctly and have been actively campaigning customers in their showroom that this was our fault somehow. Again, Dean, really? How many more homes will you ruin and blame the homeowner? How many more insurance carriers will drop you before you are uninsurable? The proof is in the reports, including from their own experts, that this stove was not installed properly and was dangerous from the moment they walked away. Service was a joke, they wanted money for warrantied parts, and have tried everything to absolve themselves. Not this time. DO YOUR LEGWORK and fully research this company before you let them into your home.

I bought a pellet stove 3 years ago in the summer. The floor pad we chose was not the one they brought two months later when they came to install it. They had given it to someone else. Had to wait 3 more months to get the one we originally asked for. I had to pay for 2 months of expensive heating oil due to this. All they could say was sorry. Never got to talk with Dean even after leaving several messages. Last winter I had some trouble and earliest service appointment they had was 3 weeks later. I took the day off for it and got a call to say there were short of techs that day and I'll have to wait 2 more weeks for the reschedule. So had to spend hundreds of dollars on heating my house with oil. I called recently to troubleshoot a new problem with the stove and they would not even provide any assistance, just wanted me to schedule a service apt. At $160 or more a visit, I don't want them unless absolutely necessary. I am also dissapointed with Lopi putting the customer at the mercy of the dealer since no one else can sell parts and service.

The only good thing is the Lopi Leyden pellet stove is beautifull and heats my whole house when it works.

All they had to do was push send and order. Four months later I am still hearing lame excuses, no calls back and zero follow through. We have waited for over 15 minutes multiple times for them to "research" my order only to find out AGAIN, that they did not order. There is zero follow through with this company, no organization, no one can make a decision on their own. We have never had such trouble with such a simple order. After four months I finally called the manufacturer who told me they have heard this before and they gave me an online company to order the parts for much less$$$ AND the parts will be here in five days. In five days I would still have been calling the company at Dean's trying to get them to push the send button! Don't waste your time or money with this poorly run company. I ordered my parts through spaparts123 dot com. They were very professional and took care of things in a five minute call! If I had an enemy I wanted to frustrate I would recommend Dean's, but until then I give them two giant thumbs down!

It is nice to see that some people have had a good experience at Dean's. Unfortunately, in doing business with them, you are rolling the dice. I, regrettably, chose to do business with Dean's, and was not as fortunate.

Here is what Dean's has done for me:
1. Taken a large amount of my money
2. Delivered (or had delivered, by a very incompetent subcontractor) a very expensive appliance
3. Left me with said (expensive) appliance sitting in my house, unusable, while I wait for parts and (another) incompetent installer to return and finish the job
4. Repeatedly scheduled an installation appointment with me, only to call and explain why the installer would not be able to keep the appointment

If you enjoy any of these experiences, Dean's is the place for you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend you patronize one of their competitors. While I have not dealt with any of their competitors (and thus cannot vouch for their integrity), I strongly doubt that they could possibly be as inept, incompetent, and as utterly uninterested in helping their customers as are the folks at Dean's. The people at Dean's complete one (and only one) task promptly: taking your money. If you want them to do anything else, you will be waiting a long, long time.

My wife and I bought our pellet stove from Dean's about 6 or 7 years ago. The stove is working great and we have them come out and service the stove and chimney every year. We just had them come out and replace our chimney cap and do our annual chimney cleaning and as usual everything went great. We would definitely recommend them to our friends and family.

Terrible on Every level. Grade F on BBB and deserves it. Bought my stove not knowing this? BIG Mistake. Blind leading the Blind there. From the beginning they sold me the wrong parts to install, gave me the incorrect statistics on the stove and had poor customer service. After returning the incorrect parts TWICE one of the installers (the only people there who had a clue) finally got it right. Soon after install the Feeder safety button broke, the ceramic bricks cracked and blower started rattling. Except for the blower I had to replace, which meant more trips to the store (30miles away). Just today the circuit board blew $340...Here's a shocker it??s out of warranty, I've only used it 2 seasons. Lopi Leyden is the model so stare clear of that??s stove and this store. For close to $5000 investment you'll save yourself a lot of grief going elsewhere. BEWARE!

After returning the incorrect parts TWICE one of the installers (the only people there who had a clue) finally got it right. Soon after install the Feeder safety button broke, the ceramic bricks cracked and blower started rattling. Except for the blower I had to replace, which meant more trips to the store (30miles away). Just today the circuit board blew $340...Here's a shocker it??s out of warranty, I've only used it 2 seasons. Lopi Leyden is the model so stare clear of that??s stove and this store. For close to $5000 investment you'll save yourself a lot of grief going elsewhere. BEWARE!

Most of the people that work there are good people but the owner is a pure a--hole that doesn't care about anyone but himself and his money. Don't let him fool you... he screwed over just about all of his good employees and thats the reason the service is so bad , even his restaurant is understaffed and running poorly. He deserves every bit of karma that comes his way.

Deans is nothing but a bunch of low class scam artists. This company has the worst sales staff and customer service around. Once they have your money forget you better pray you don't have a problem. STAY AWAY !!
