After being ripped off by Mokena Animal Clinic (191/LaGrange) and Meadowbrook Animal Clinic (179/94th Ave), I tried Midwest Animal Hospital and was very impressed with the cleanliness and light design of the facility, courtesy and efficiency of front desk staff, outstanding veterinarians, and this is very important to me, one time we needed to have our elderly dog with malignant cancer put to sleep, Dr. Melissa came to the house with an assistant and took care of it right in our own home (which is the last favor we could do for our beloved pet, not having to drag her to a strange place with strange people around when she was so ill). Dr. Melissa and Dr. Coyne are wonderful, caring vets. The other vets we have seen at this facility were all excellent. I would not take my precious pets anywhere else and recommend this place highly. Also, we adopted another pet from Annie's Little Angels pet rescue, and Brandy (president) told us Dr. Coyne gives her a discount rate for the care of the rescue pets and allows her to pay him in installments. THEY ARE SAINTS HERE!

Okay some of these reviews are BEYOND ridiculous and just seem unbelievably far-fetched, especially after my experience with this clinic.

My cat Roma had her leg amputated at Midwest. We got a couple of second opinions because it was a big decision, but it definitely had to come off. We brought her to Midwest because that's where she's gone since she was a baby. The staff was just fantastic. They were busy but still knew my face when I came in and knew my cat by name. My cat had to be kept an extra night, but they let me come in and stay with her for HOURS (as long as I wanted!) in an empty examination room whenever I wanted during open hours. I definitely think that my cat got the best care possible at a very reasonable price. I would never have believed it, but my 3-legged cat is now running around even better than she was before the surgery.

I give this place 4/5 stars because it's pretty dog-centric. The surrounding area has a lot of open fields and very few apartment buildings and condos, so most people out here have dogs. Definitely keep your cat in a carrier and keep that carrier with you at all times.

Speaking of the areas.... Katie B. How dare you judge the entire area in which I live as being racist! Do you know anyone out here, or are you just jumping to conclusions because of the "looks" you get at the vet's office? How silly! Also, in regards to your phone conversation, don't you think that MAYBE THEY WEREN"T HIRING? You made some really ignorant blanket statements and I really do not appreciate it. Grow up.

We recently changed vets to Midwest Animal Hospital. After our initial visit we had a slight emergency with our 10 month old German Shepherd when we contacted Midwest Animal Hospital Carrie answered our call and promtly and courteously responded. Even though it was near to closing Dr. Coyne said he would stay over to see our pet. The sevice provided was exceptional and beyond the line of duty. We are very happy we changed vets, as this type of response would not be provided by many others.

I think that the people writing reviews about kennel cough have no idea what they are talking about. Maybe they should research it before opening their mouths on here. Kennel cough is easy to treat and actually fairly common. As far as boarding prices and other fees they are right in there with the rest of the vets in that area in all aspects of the hospital. Maybe people should call around and research that as well.

I have just recently began bringing my pets to Midwest, in fact I picked up all four of my dogs from boarding with them today. I was able to have my lab's hips checked and treated, get all four of them their shots, and have all of them groomed before coming home. Its a nice, clean place and the staff is wonderful! Bravo Midwest!

Midwest Animal Hospital in Mokena is, in my opinion, the best veterinary hospital in the area. Dr. Coyne has been around for over 25 years and it shows in the quality care that he expects from his staff. The doctors at Midwest are some of the best. You can request any doctor you'd like, but you don't really need to...one is just as gentle and sweet as the next. The one thing I love about this place is the non-appointment basis on which pets are seen. Sure, you can sometimes have a bit of a wait, but on the other hand, it's always convenient for bringing your pet to the vet. I and many of my friends and neighbors regularly board our pets at this hospital. I COMPLETELY disagree with any previous reviews stating that this clinic is in the least bit dirty! It's actually immaculate - on every tour I have taken of the kennel area, I can't even smell a dog (and believe me, I'm PICKY!). I'm sorry for anyone who's pet has returned home ill from Midwest, but I, nor anyone I know has had a bad experience. My dogs and cat always come home happy and healthy! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

I have been a faithful client of Dr. Coyne and his staff for many, many years. When he opened Midwest Animal Hospital, I was thrilled! This place is beautiful! The staff, from the receptionists to the kennel help is fabulous. I have visited the kennel area more than once and let me tell you...it's spotless! The hospital offers playtime and "busy snacks" like kongs filled with peanut butter - I think that's a nice extra. Despite what some of the other entries say (most made obviously by disgruntled ex-employees!) this hospital is top-knotch. One more thing to address - kennel cough is going to happen. As unfortunate as it may be, it's like taking your kid to daycare. It means nothing of a staff's lack of care or the uncleanliness of the hospital at all. There are many animals under the same roof and no matter how hard you try, kennel cough is gonna sneak through.

While the overall veterinarians working here are good and I have no issues with the regular care they give. Except why don't they do kennel rounds?
Boarded my dog here for a week and he has been boarded before. Lost 20% of his body weight, been sick now for over 3 weeks. Cough, sneezing, couldn't breath. Where the heck were the vets during this? This is not a job for unsupervised people. While they did medical care for free and he is getting better (but still not back to normal 3 weeks later). It does not make up for hurting an animal in this way. I will never board my dog there again. STAY AWAY FROM KENNEL

Very unprofessional staff at the front office Eating barely acknowledge me. My dog was boarded and smelled like urine. Pricing high for the type of boarding provided. When asked about walks, I was told four time as day. I found out a walk consists of nothing more than moving the dog from one cage to another for cleaning. My dog had kennel cough. They said they would treat it. Instead of treating it. Why don't you keep the kennels cleaner and prevent kennel cough. This has happened before. Dr. Coyne should be ashamed. I never had this problem at Forest South. Maybe some new management should be considered. I am no longer a customer.

most of the vets are great how ever do not take your pets to be boarded here if you care about them i used to work for this company and trust me all your pet is to the company is a big fat $ sign.before the new building was finished they would charge people for dog runs when in fact there dog was in a crate in the hall way i even seen them put a small dog in a rabbit cage I'm not an employee who was fired and am trying to get even i am an employee who quit do to the abuse and neglect that went on and when it was brought to the attention of management the culprits were given a promotion instead of being punished.in that place its not about how much work you do its who you know that counts

I will never board my dog here again. Not only did my dog have explosive diarrhea he had urine burns on his feet.they gave me back all of his food so i guess they weren't feeding him his food (that prob explains the weight loss) he looked awful.the office manager tried to cover up by saying he wouldn't eat his food so we fed him science diet that food is like cancer in a bag for dogs my dog would never eat that.and if he did eat then why did he loose 3 pounds being there? also i took him to another vet and they said he has giardia i was so mad.I called but the office manager Tracy got ignorant and said he probably had it before he got there. She was full of crap because 1 week prior to him being boarded he checked out just fine.as far as kennel cough yes dogs can still get it even with shots there are so many strains the shot just helps with the severity but still the place is horrible i will try petsmarts pet hotel from now on from what i see when i go there dogs actually like being there so if you really love your pet please reconsider not going to Midwest

I think this hospital is a remarkable place to not only to work but take your pets there. I do both and unlike the ex- employees that worked there I still do. I think its sad that when people get fired or are disgruntle because the hospital will not hire them back that this is what they resort to. As far as kennel cough goes its like the flu there are many strands out their and the shot help protect with the severity of the cough. when you get the flu shot it doesn't mean you wont get sick now does it. This hospital is extremely clean and if someone was ever mean to your animal Dr. John Coyne would terminate them Immediately. Which the whole time I have worked there I have not once seen any animal cruelty. I'v worked at other animal hospitals and this is the best by far not only with customer care, but also with prices. They price match and give different discounts how many other animal hospitals do that. Thank You Dr. Coyne

Midwest animal hospital is run by Dr Coyne he is no different then any other doctor all he cares about is money i know i worked there they treat there kennel staff like dirt and in turn the staff is mostly teens who hit kick and never give a kind hand to your pets there is only 1 person who cares about your pet in the kennels but the rest do not animals get chemical burns from using too much bleach or roccal on the floors and not rinsing the runs they loose peoples pets because they dont pay attention.i have witnessed a dog being kicked simply because it was pulling when the doctor was told instead of punishing the individual that person was promoted. If you have a rott, beware because most of the teens are afraid of them so they dont get to go out they just sit in there runs and urinate and poop on there self. The original kennel staff the folks who actually cared and took the time with your pets were replaced with teenagers and friends of the office manager they know they wont be fired so they do as they please so befor bringing your pet to a place that dont care do your home work not everything is as sweet as it seems.

I have always received friendly care here and the groomer is awesome. However, in the past 6 months I have had to board my two dogs there and both times they came home with kennel cough. I figured the first time was a fluke, but after this past weekend and they were only there a day and a half, I'm beginning to have second thoughts about ever boarding them there again. They will treat them for free, but the dogs shouldn't be getting sick in the first place (especially when they have their vaccines). I think they need to be inspected.

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Coyne and his associates for 5 years. They have always received the best of care. Annette does their grooming and is exceptional. I am very particular about who takes care of my animals and my experience with the doctors at Midwest Animal Hospital has been great! The staff seems a little distant and unorganized but the doctors are terrific.

I called one day to speak with a manager about jobs and the girl told me to hold on and kept me on hold for 3 minutes and she kept connecting me to everybody but the manager and all these doctors and then the next person i got connected to just told me to call back tomorrow and hung up and they didnt even know what my call was about. I called back the next day and asked for a manager and the lady had an attitude toned voice towards me and she said hold on i'll find someone and i said ok thank you very much and she said "yeah uh huh." Kept me on hold for 5 minutes and then they picked up the phone held it for 3 seconds and then hung it up on me and when i went to call back twice right after nobody picked up! They have horrible mean people working there and their racist and located in a racist area. I've been in there several times and you dont know how many horrible looks i got from the workers..and for what?????! because im a shade darker than them?! it's just horrible! I'm glad I never got a call back and i will never take my cats there again. Theres no diversity! Its like saying they may not care about the color fur a pet has in order to get care for the pet but a persons skintone matters when it comes to getting a job with them right?! That animal hospital is ridiculous.

I have going to Midwest Animal Hospital since my dog was a puppy. The vets are fantastic, never had to wait very long and diagnosis was right on. Have kept him there for boarding and grooming. They do a great job. They'll also match any price and meds, etc. It's a great one stop place for your pets!!

Not only did I receive excellent care for my cats at this location, but I was able to adopt another kitten at a very affordable price. The kitten was very healthy and was neutered immediately. This office also followed up to see how the kitten was fitting into the home. Great service!
