Don't go there if you are in a hurry, but if you love great flavor in your food, this is a win!

Pros: Great flavor . . . fresh fresh ingrediants

Cons: Very relaxed sevice

My husband and I ate at Cannella Patisserie last night for dinner. It was a BIG disappointment because we were both expecting to enjoy the French food and atmosphere. I had a Crepe Paris (Ham & Cheese, I think the cheese was gruyere) which was okay. My husband had the Crepe de Bresse (chicken, mushroom and cream) which had NO FLAVOR AT ALL. I suspect it wasn't freshly made.

Other than the flavorless dinner crepes the real problem was the service. The wait staff seemed uncoordinated and confused. Our waitress completely ignored us after taking our order. The food was delivered by a different server even though the restaurant was nearly empty.

We had planned to order dessert but after a long wait we realized our waitress had no intention of checking in with us, refilling our water glasses, clearing our plates, or asking if we wanted anything else. Since our waitress was busy chatting with her friends, another employee offered to clear our table, but for some reason this person felt the need to tell us that ?I?m not a waitress. I haven?t been here since March. I have no idea what?s going on here. etc? Ok, that?s too much information. We also noticed a second waitress (blonde pony tail) chatting with a friend and ignoring her customers on the patio.

I don?t understand why anyone would go through the trouble of opening a restaurant like this in such a great location and then completely and thoroughly ignore the customers. Being French is no excuse. We were in Paris recently and the service was fine. Had we been treated even a little better at Cannella Patisserie we would have stocked up on French pastries before leaving and probably would have become regulars. The owners have no idea what they?re losing when they treat people like this. Oh right, I forgot? they don?t care.

Pros: Probably does have good desserts. We were seated promptly.

Cons: Service was nearly non-existant.

I recommend the food from the case because I do agree with the other reviewer, the service is at times questionable. But I do go there frequently because I love the pear and brie croisants and the gruyre cheese and ham. DELICIOUS!! Great lattes and nice outdoor seating too.

This has got to be one of the absolute worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant!!!

First, I asked for the soup of the day, but they were out of soup. My friend ordered a sandwich. With sandwiches you have your choice of 4 different types of bread, and my friend wanted his on a croissant, but of course they were OUT! After changing our order two times already, my friend and I finally decided on the crepes, but... you guessed it... they were OUT! We were told they could make more if we could wait another 20 min on top of the 15 min we had already waited. We agreed to this, but after ordering our crepes, I saw the restaurant owner (our waitress) and the cook have a heated argument. Was this about our crepes? Finally, 25 min later, I got my crepe... however my friend DID NOT! They forgot!!! We were told it would be another 15-20 minutes to make his crepe, but at this point our patience had worn thin, and we were just ready to leave.

What kind of French restaurant is OUT of SOUP, CROISSANTS, and CREPES when those items MAKE UP THE BULK OF THEIR MENU?!? I know the French are not known for their service but this is just RIDICULOUS! If it's represented on the menu isn't it a reasonable expectation that they have it?!? Is this the level of customer service I should expect from a Birmingham restaurant?? If this is the case, I need to lower my expectations.

Needless to say, I?m NEVER going back!
