My wife had my car towed to Johnson Automotive when it wouldn't start while I was out of town. They diagnosed the problem as a faulty alternator and quoted her about $1200 to repair it. We had the work done, and noticed continuing electrical problems with the car immediately thereafter [the power windows worked only intermittently, and the power outlets didn't work at all]. We took the car back to Johnson and asked them to look at it, and they refused to do so without charging us another $100 diagnostic fee. I was wary of paying them a second diagnostic fee to address issues they should have resolved the first time. They warrant their work for a year, but, again, wouldn't even look at the car without me agreeing to pay a second diagnostic fee. I'll be taking my car elsewhere to have this work done, needless to say. I'm a consumer law attorney, so I'm well aware of my rights.

My wife called them a few days later to try to de-escalate the situation. She reminded them that all we were asking them to do was to look at the car to see what the problem was ... we never had any electrical problems at all before they worked on it. Instead, Jim called her "a liar" and hung up on her. I've never had any dealings with any business quite like this. My advice is to STEER CLEAR.

Speedy service time. My friend had referred me to Johnson Automotive. She had given "Rave Reviews"- she has work done there all the time. Very knowledgeable and willing to do the service and only the service requested.

Bought auto from them March 2007. Here is my experience :
1. It did not have a CD player, it was missing. They said, in writing, they'd get me one. It's July, and still waiting. Five phone calls and 1 letter, they just say they are looking for one. My next step is probably small claims court.
2. When first bought, car smelled a little funny. I figured it was a smoker, drinker, heavy sweating previous owner. When smell did not go away, I investigate further and find all the carpet is wet beneath the floor mats. I check carfax and it was not listed as flood car, Johnson says they no nothing about it. $300 for new carpet and 12 hours of work for me to replace it. I figure if not flood, then someone left windows open during heavy rains.
3. Four months after purchase, won't start. I figure, gee, good thing I bought that $300 warranty from Johnson. I have it towed to them. They say needs fuel pump, not covered by warranty, $988 to fix.
I say forget it. I call around, Bob Sumerel Tire in Blue Ash replaces it for $588 !!! Oh, but I have to pay Johnson Automotive $111.26 for them to tell me my warranty is no good and that I need a fuel pump.

These people stink. I will NEVER step foot on their property again.

DO NOT USE JOHNSON AUTOMOTIVE !!!!

Johnson Automotive charges $111.26 for estimates. This is not advised up front. Prices are very high. If you do not like them what do they care, you still have to pay them 111.26 just for them to tell you they are going to over-charge you. If this is how they do business before they work on your car than I wonder what kind of job they are really doing under the hood, when you cannot see what is going on...
