Pileggi On The Square

My stylist was Daniel. He introduced himself , very polite and listened to what I wanted. He gave me a consultation regarding the shape of my face texture of my hair. I brought in a picture of the style I wanted and he matched it perfectly. It was a pixie cut that looks fabulous! My husband loves it and I get compliments all the time. Can't wait to go back...if you want an expert cut go to Daniel you wont regret it.

This salon is the most boring salon in the city. As soon as you walk in the staff looks you up and down as if you are intruding on their space. Everyone who works there is incredibly snobby. There is not a single creative hair cut being done, all the stylists know how to do is boring cookie cutter hair cuts and color. The most exciting thing i saw walk out of there was a bob. If you are looking for something stylish and fun this is not the place. All these people seem to do is old lady hair and blowouts with WAY too much volume you look like a pageant girl. If you want your hair to actually look like you have a personality DONT GO HERE.

Do NOT get your hair colored by Marlene - she burned my hair - it took a year for another salon to fix it (had to get 6 inches cut off) and Marlene tried to blame me for the damage she did to my hair. In 25 years, I've never had my hair damaged until I made the mistake of letting Marlene touch my hair.

Tried more than once. Prices are not commesurate with worth. Charge high end prices for, at best ,mediocre hair cuts. Stay away from early morning appontments, staff is resentful of making them get out of bed before 10 am, I've had it with the phoney "can do" atttitude. Does not matter how photos you show them they just repeat the same cookie cutter haircut. Don't ever rely on them for a special event.

I'm a college student - and while getting a cut at Pileggi can be pricey - it is totally worth it. I always leave happy. Daniel really understands hair. I trust him to do whatever he wants and it always looks great, and even better, continues to look great as it grows out. He has a product he's made called Natural Glisten. It makes your hair look sunkissed. I absolutely love it and get compliments all the time. Daniel takes the time to make sure my hair looks perfect and complements my face structure as well as the natural waves in my hair. I've been hooked because my hair never looks as good when I go to anyone else. Plus - I always have fun when I go to the salon.

Jeffery Moffet was fabulous. He completely listened to my desires and typical maintenance routine for my hair style. And he then incorporated them into his hair style design. He spent just the right amount of time on me (from cut to style) ~ not too little time and not too much! I would definitely recommend Jeffery.

Upstairs at Pileggi's on the Square, tucked away in a quiet corner, you'll find Daniel doing his thing - giving precision haircuts and formulating color to make your hair look better than ever before. Since my first visit in 1999, I've never gone to anyone else for a cut. Why would I? Daniel is an expert colorist, who attends seminars in Paris every year to keep current with products and trends. He's a funny, smart and gentlemanly guy who takes women who walk in looking like the wrath of God, and after color, cut and a blow-dry, leave "red-carpet" ready!

After Daniel first changed my hair from faded, too-blonde frizz to shiny, rich chestnut brown with highlights, seven of my co-workers and a friend made appointments with Daniel and became loyal clients for years. Seven! What's that tell ya'? This guy's GOOD!

Finally, a wonderful stylist and colorist rolled into one Bruce Slemmer. The highlights are the most natural I've even had and the cut is one that even I can make look good. I really didn't know what I wanted and the suggestions he made were just perfect. He has a very artistic eye and matched my cut with my lifestyle. I couldn't be happier.

My husband gave me a gift certificate for Pileggi with the intent of having a spa day with massages and everything. Through some kind of miscommunication he didn't know they no longer offered massages when he got the certificate, and it was non-refundable. Bernadette was very nice an arranged the spa day my husband had intended for me with massage and everything. I also added in highlighting and a haircut. The services and staff were all nice and friendly, and Bernadette made sure I had a great afternoon. Thank you Pileggi for a great day!

Quite simply, Bruce is the God of Hair! After one cut and color with Bruce, I knew that He would be my hair's guardian angel for a long, long time. Bruce treats Hair as his sacred mission and is meticulous, patient and precise in the process. Did I mention he'll make you laugh, reflect then laugh again while turning your shaggy crop top into a multi-hued halo? Bruce is a genius! He is the best thing that has ever happened to my hair. I always go to him along with numerous other people I know and have recommended. Before a party I had my hair appointment as usual and I decided to go down stairs to get a pedicure and while I appreciate that Connie squeezed me in without an appointment I am extremely unhappy with the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. I really wanted to complain but I love Bruce so much I didn't want to make a scene knowing I'd be back in a few weeks so I paid and unfortunately tipped her but it was truly the worst experience ever. She missed parts of my toenails in the rush paint job and got polish all over random parts of my feet, it was so bad I had to have it redone. I will still go back because Bruce is so wonderful but this is just a warning not to get pedicures there.

Polina is the best! She knows how to make you feel like the queen you know you are. She gave me the best facial I have ever had. I have had facials in L.A., New York, Miami, and Europe...she by far is top on my list. She can fix any skin problem you have. I will not go to anyone but her. She also did my eyebrows, which at first were uneven and not flattering. One appointment with her and I looked and felt like a new women! I recomend her to men and women!

I recently moved here from California and had to leave behind my hairstylist who I loved. Since I've been on the east coast I've tried a few places for hair cuts, color and nails and for the most part I have not been happy, and then I met Bruce Slemmer thanks to Citysearch. I read all the excellent reveiws and I was sold. I called and Bernedette the owner gave me all the prices and information and I felt very good from that point on. Last Thursday I spent the whole day at Pileggi on The Square getting serviced from head to toe. The salon is very nice and the employee's are very friendly and professional. I started with a pedicure and complete set of gel nails with Connie. She is awesome! Connie is very professional, and did a great job and was fun to spend time with. Next it was time for Bruce. He looked at the shape of my face and skin tone and told me what he wanted to do. Bruce is also very professional and I made another friend! My hair looks so beautiful! I have the best color and highlights that I've ever had. The cut is perfect. I have straight fine hair and it now it's full and has movement to it. He's a genius! Oh, and Kelly who washed my hair was great. She gives a nice head message. My last stop was with Polina to have my eyebrows waxed. I had a fun time with her and again made another new friend. She is an expert at brows. As you can see I highly recommend this salon and I look forward to my next visit. Thank you Bruce, Connie, Polina and thank you Bernedette for having such a great team.

I recently went to Pileggi on the Square, and was disgusted by what i found. As soon as i entered i was given an attitude by the woman at the desk, who i assume to be the owner. After that i waited for about 30 mins for my stylist , and after all that my hair didn't even look that good. I do not reccomend this place to anyone.

I have been to Pileggi for haircuts and they have been good, however, you pay for the top stylist and have their assistant do most of the work.

I recently went for my sister's wedding and it was not what we expected. The stylist had a gazillion other appointments booked for the same time. She had the assistants dry our hair and then spent 5 minutes putting our hair up. She was annoyed when we asked her to fix our hair. She charged $100. They should have been embarrassed to charge that much for 5 minutes of crappy work. I would NEVER go there for a wedding unless you don't care how you look for your special day and don't mind speding a fortune.

I would follow Jeffrey anywhere to ensure I always have great looking hair--and I do, I travel from NYC to Philadelphia to have my hair done. Finding the right hair stylist is often a daunting task. I have
extremely thick hair probably five times the amount of most. Its has always been a struggle for me to find someone who can do what I ask and do it well. Now I have found him! Jefferey cuts my hair with ease
He suggests new ideas and ways to improve my hair and executes them better that I could ever imagine. I have referred all of my friends and family to Jeff. He has given them all amazing and unique to their style cuts and color. The color he does always looks flawless never brassy or unnatural. He sincerely wants to please you and wants to feel certain you love what he has done. Not to mention he is very personable, friendly, and professional. I have found the perfect hair stylist!

I highly recommend Bruce Slemmer of "Pileggi on the Square" for his high caliber of expertise, attentiveness, and detailed perfection for hair cut & styling, coloring, highlights, and lowlights. When I first came to Bruce with my fly-away, baby fine hair covered in bad dye with fading, brassy highlights, and a really bad cut --- Bruce totally transformed my hair....cut....color....style.

He patiently explained everything he was doing to my hair as he went along. The end result??? WOW.....WOW....WOW!! I now have hair with absolutely beautiful realistic color! No more brassiness! The cut is totally amazing! For the first time in my life I no longer have bad hair days because Bruce cuts my hair so expertly that my hair automatically falls into place everyday. An added plus is that the cut makes me look like I have more hair! i went to pileggi on the square and it was the best experience of my whole entire life...i was greeted by two young beautiful receptionist's who were so friendly and welcoming..they really made my time there a real treat. i had tons of questions because i was so thrilled by the beautiful salon and the two receptionist's were right on track answering them with great enthusiasm....they were so pretty too...such great smiles....anyway they really made the salon...i'm gonna call them on the phone because i want them to be my friends...their names were tiffany and kelli...the best girls ever!

I have been looking FRANTICALLY for someone who could manage my curly locks, and give me natural yet noticeable highlights. I read on here that Bruce Slemmer was amazing, and had experience with curls, and I was NOT let down! He was not only friendly and professional, but he is a major perfectionist and absolutely loves what he does. And it shows! This haircut is the best I have ever had, and my color is amazing. The first thing my boyfriend said when he saw me was "Wow". Trust me, this time he noticed I got my hair done.

I have been going to Jeffrey for 4 years and will follow him anywhere. He Is the most talented colorist and cutter I have ever been to. He keeps himself educated on trends and styles and it shows through his work. He gives my husband the best haircuts he's ever had too. Not only is he an excellent hairdresser he has a great, down to earth personality. I love this salon too, everyone was so nice and its a great atmosphere. Beautiful! Great fit for me and stylist!

I went to Pileggi about 4 years ago and had my hair cut and colored. It was great. I returned to phila. about a week ago and decided to give it another go. While my haircut and highlights were very average the service I recieved was in a word unpleasent. I am very upset by my experience.

Considering I formally was a bartender in every hot club in the city, it would be no surprise that I have went to every hot, trendy, hair salon to have have my hair done at one time or another. I have even had hairdressers offer to do my hair at no cost because he or she wanted patrons to inquire on who was styling my hair. It was not until a year ago, when i walked into Piileggi, and finally met a hairstylist named Bruce, who absolutely changed the way I look, and most importantly the way i feel about my hair. People chase me down the street and ask me which salon i go to get it done. I cannot tell you what I get complimented on more, my cut or my color. However,I can tell you this I LOVE MY HAIR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!! Not to mention, he explained to me in the simplist form on how to style it myself!! My hair has never looked better. I feel I owe this review to him because I am so happy with his work--remember this: you get what you pay for and he is worth every cent!!!

My fiance and I have been going to Pileggi On The Square for just a short time and we just love it! The thing is...my fiance had his hair cut fantastically by Cynthia Peditto, and sometime since his last cut she left and we have no idea where she went! If anyone knows, please tell me! We'd be forever grateful! Meanwhile, I've been seeing Michael and he is just the absolute best!!! Today I walked in with a head full of jet black hair and walked out a nice blonde with a cute haircut, thanks to Bruce and everyone else at Pileggi.
While not everyone can expect similar results, you can expect Bruce to stop at nothing to get you to look your absolute best and go FAR beyond your expectations.
Everyone at Pileggi was very kind,courteous and attentive. I am very grateful that I stumbled into Pileggi, I will not go anywhere else!

I have been to plenty of "top" salons and was sick and tired of wasting my money and settling for haircuts and colors that I was not happy for. Eventually I just started to believe that there were just no hair stylist that could do exactly what I had showed them to do. ( I always bring pictures of what I want) I finally did some research and heard that Bruce from Peliggi was a magnificent hair stylist. I honestly didnt believe he could do much better then all the other "top" salons that say they have the best stylist. I hated the fact that I was probably going to waste money again on hair color but I figured what can I lose besides the plenty of money Ive already wasted? Let me tell you, I finally realized that Bruce is the only hair stylist that knows what he is doing. Everytime I walk out of there, I am so amazed at his work, I can not believe the results I get with him. I promise you, if you know what you want and you go to Bruce you will walk out of there looking better than the celebrity in the magazine picture you show him!! I will never go to another hair stylist ever again !! There is nobody out there that could top his work! Now that I have experienced Bruce, there is not way I could even think of going to anyone else! They will never in a milion years make me look this good!

I work in Center City Philly and always walk by Pileggi on the square on my lunch break. I MUST admit I am vain and my hair is one of my MOST important assets. I decided to make an appointment at Pileggi's to get a cut, color and style. Well, my hair stylist was Jessica, a HOT italian goddess who was so nice, friendly, respectful and courteous. I went in for a hair cut and received a MAKEOVER, I mean heads turn when I walk down the street, but after Jessica was done I wanted to go out for a night on the town because I REALLY LOOKED GOOD. I told Jessica I loved my hair and would be back next month. I would recommend Pileggi on the square to my family, friends, and co-workers and told them to make sure they request Jessica as their stylist.

I have been going to the same salon for the past 9 months while living in Philadelphia. After hearing so much about Pileggi on the square, I had to see what all the hype was about and I was very surprised. Pileggi on the Square makes you feel like you are right at home when you walk through the door for your very first time. I have not witnessed such hospitality in a salon. Jessica, was very friendly and did a great job with customer service, not to mention how she handled the appointment and the haircut. I highly recommend Pileggi on the Square to those of you who are looking for a salon. You will be very, very pleased.

I recently went to Bruce at Pileggi on the Square. I walked into the salon with a stick straight, nothing working for me, mousy-brown hair style, and walked out happier than ever with a new cut that added tons of body, and golden caramel highlights that looked completely natural. I have been looking for a new salon since my hairdstylist moved a year ago. Through a recomendation I decieded to try Pileggi's. Coming from Jersey getting there was a nightmare!! After sitting there waiting for 45 min. along with the very "cocky" greeting I recieved I was more than disgusted. I will not be returning. That was my first and last visit. I am also a stylist? who was last known to be working at salon on 4th. My name is Ellen and I am CRAZY. I leave fake reviews for other salons too. This salon or anyone can just log on to the negs and use the password citygirl. I don't know what is wrong with me but at least you can clean up you review.

I moved to the Philadelphia area in August 2005 and read an article in Allure magazine, which had featured Bruce Slemmer as the top colorist. I scheduled an appointment with him at his salon and was never more pleased with the quality of work that he did, and I have no reason to choose another stylist or colorist because Bruce is the best. His article was very good and I feel that I should write a brief version of it. It goes Once we got past his technique (he folded 122 foils on our shoulder length hair), we realized Slemmer was a mad genius. He prescribed 2 shades of low lights in the back, gold at the crown, and had baby blonde in the back (to bring out those baby blues). The toner application felt more like a scalp massage, and Slemmer said he rinses (never shampoos) the toner (so the color will last longer). Our hair had a champagne sheen for months proving theres a method to his madness. I have always had pretty much the same hair cut and natural brown color, and when Bruce suggested a different approach I was confident in his abilities. Bruce cut my hair down to just the right level, than he proceeded to apply caramel brown color to my hair and used foils to make the highlights just right for me. After he finished my hair color went from natural brown to brown with caramel brown highlights and I was instantly amazed. Now I feel satisfied for the first time with my hair and I have a renewed sense of confidence in myself. I feel that Bruce deserves more credit than he gets because he is highly skilled, experienced, and he has excellent people skills.

I had Full Head Highlights done over the weekend at Pileggi. It was my first time there for coloring. On Tues, I phoned the Salon to request a color correction plus some additonal Highlights. They showed genuine concern for my satisfaction. Also, they were extremely accommodating to my schedule, and in fact, extended an appt for the color correction the very same day that I called!! I was pleased with the outcome and would recommend the salon.

I was recently referred to Meg at Pileggi by a friend...I live in NJ and was trying out a bunch
of different salons-but never really found the right fit. My friend who lives in Center City,
swore by her stylist Meg. I was skeptical only because I didn't really want to travel all the
way to the city and spend a bunch of $$$ and come out dissatisfied. But quite the opposite happened...Meg is a true artist...I absolutely love my hair!!! the haircut she gave me is awesome-and it is so easy for me to maintain...and the color is just fabulous-exactly what I wanted! Give Meg a shot-I promise-you will not be disappointed!!!

I just recently moved to the Philadelphia area and have been from New York to LA but Philadelphia is the best. I got the best Hair color and Cut Ive had in a very long time from Bruce Slemmer (featured in allure magazine in August 2005) at Pileggi Salon. He is by far the best hair colorist and attentive listener. I walked out of the salon feeling like a million bucks!
The haircut was exactly what I wanted, it had motion, flow, and the color was alive. Bruce is amazing and I was wondering if I should write a review because I know once people find out about him he is going to be booked up, but since he came recommended to me from a friend I suppose I can't be selfish. His skills and experience provide people with a renewed sense of satisfaction making it a completely worthwhile visit.

Bruce is PHENOMENALl! I've been floating around Philadelphia for the last 18 months from high-end salon to high-end salon, trying to find a stylist who could give me a decent haircut. I didn't even dare venture into color. It was so frustrating-- word-of-mouth was leading to nowhere. This time, the stakes were pretty high-- I was starting a new job and really needed to get my hair cleaned up. Bruce fixed it. He LISTENED-- he blended the choppy layers, gave my hair some shape, respected the fact I'm trying to grow it out, explained everything he was doing before he did it, and at the same time applied his artist's touch. I was so impressed I went back the next day for color, and was wowed again. He even told me to part it on the other side...and he was right! No wonder Allure named him THE top Philadelphia colorist.

I moved from Pittsburgh to Philly and had major problems finding a good salon. Tried another high-end salon, but was shocked with the disastrous results (required a second appointment to attempt to fix the results from the first visit). After this fiasco, for the past 10 months I would drive 5 1/2 hours to go back to my excellent salon in Shadyside, but as you can imagine that can get old. After some research on Philadelphia City Search, I decided to try Pileggi and the Square and based on the reviews, I wanted an appointment with Bruce. I WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED with Bruce's attention to detail, professionalism, and easy / winning personality. I can see why Bruce was named as one of the very few top colorists in the United States in the August 2005 Allure magazine. (Note: He was the only one listed for Philadelphia.) THIS GUY KNOWS HIS STUFF! My hair color and cut are better than ever. I am very particular, and I highly recommend Bruce Slemmer. As an additional FYI, everyone at Pileggi on the Square was nice. The atmosphere of the salon was definitely friendly - no major attitudes.

If you are in the mood to try a different cut or style (especially short) or color (especially reds and browns with highlights) Cynthia Peditto is your woman. In a salon that is known for long, layered cuts and for coloring blonde's-Cynthia's cuts stand out. I started seeing her several years back when i wanted to chop my then longish, blondish hair. The result was outstanding and i haven't had long hair since. I get stopped on the street at least once a week-I own an art gallery in town and see a lot of creative types. They all want to know who cuts my hair-Cynthia Peditto!

I have been to so many salons trying to get the perfect color. Never happened until I met Bruce Slemmer of Pileggi. Usually I end up too blonde, too dark, or just very brassy. I told him what I was looking for and he looked at my skin tone and suggested what was best for me. I put my trust in him and was totally blown away. I have never had so many foils, such time and expertise devoted to me. I left with the MOST natural-looking color!! I hear "Who does your hair?" on an almost daily basis. No more trips to NYC. I have been a client of Bruce Slemmer since August, 2005 when I read in Allure Magazine that he was named top colorist for that month. Bruce is a highly skilled and experienced hair color specialist. I found Bruce in August at another Salon and followed him to his present location at Pileggi Salon, and have always been satisfied with the attention to detail that Bruce provides to his clients. He is highly motivated toward providing clients with an exceptional hair style and color that best fits them. I have never had a colorist that has been able to see what hair style and color was right for me, which has been very frustrating for me. I am very glad to see that Bruce is working at Pileggis Salon and positioned right near the front window. He is experienced and provides this well-known and prestigious salon with much needed talent.

Yesterday I go a cut with marlene. Best ever. My layers are smooth and flowy, not choppy and steppy, It is so beautiful, im hooked, Ill recomend everybody to her. She made me feel so beautiful. Thanks Marlene your awesome!

last week i went to marlene for the first time. She's so nice and thorough! She gave me the most natural looking highlights! Nobody knows Im not not a Natural blonde. No red, no breakage, pure bliss! Want to be blonde? YOU NEED MARLENE. make your appt. quickly, she books up fast!

Ever try to color your hair yourself well I did this past weekend and lets just say its far from cute! I was embarressed to come in but Jen laughed and said dont worry about it she's seen worse. I think she just told me that Lol! Anyway " A miracle" couldn't beleive it she turned Cruella into Cinderella. 2 Facts, FACT 1, I pledge never to color my hair my self again. FACT 2, Best damn color I've ever had! chow

I recently moved to Philadelphia from California in dyer need of a stylist. At the airport I happened to pick up a copy of Allure magazine and noticed an article on the top salons in the top cities. Well, Pileggi on the square was named top salon and Jennifer was named one of three top stylists. I called the next day and made my appointment. BY FAR, the best cut and color I have ever had!

I found out about Bruce in the August edition of Allure magazine . I went to Pileggi salon as soon as I found out he was there. I have had some really bad results with color in the past but this guy is amazing. I have never had so many foils in my hair! He gave me low lights and highlights resulting in the best color I have ever had. I am asked all the time "Who does your hair?". He is truly an amazing artist!!!
