Mike T was professional and courteous. He was very knowledgeable and made very helpful recommendations concerning the care and upkeep of our HVAC system. He also identified a problem with our heat pump, fixed it and made recommendations regarding possible problems to watch for in the future as our HVAC unit ages. Great service, I really appreciated Mike T.'s honesty.
After arriving at our home to investigate an inoperative Central Air Conditioning Unit--Jake did a great job explaining the problem, the cost of simply reairing (and keeping our 14-year old system) versus upgrading to a newer unit.
We replaced an 8 SEER unit with a 16 SEER model. Consideration was given to annual energy usage, warranty and rebates. We expect to recoup our investment in UNDER 3-yrs time based on projected energy savings alone.
Work with someone you trust to understand the technical, operational and energy related benefits.
Josh Battele was sent out by Thompson to look at our A/C. He found the trouble right away and, this was unexpected, found an option that didn't cost me anything but got the A/C up and running again. While he waited to make sure things were right he played ball with my dog. Clean, thorough, efficient and at little to no cost. I likeee very much.
Jake N. was very helpful and professional. He provided outstanding service and helped us understand what was going on with our AC. He didn't try to upsell us on things we didn't need. We are very pleased with his work. We highly recommend Jake and Thompson to everyone.
On 04/23/2012 Thompson plumbing heating & cooling sent Troy H to my home to service my a/c . Troy is a first class service tech. who explaned everything he did for me and told me steps to take to prolong the life of my unit.GREAT job Troy H and Thompson Plumbing Heating & Cooling
Here is my 72 year old Mother that lives alone, experience with Thompson. She called them and told them she believed her AC unit was not cooling and later that day they sent out a serviceman. My mother said he was on time and very polite. The service man replaced a dual capacitor including parts and labor for $371.00 plus an electrical contacter including parts and labor for $371.00. Total for replacing the two parts was $742.00.He was at her residents for less than two hours. I have the old parts and can easily find them online for $25.00 each making the two parts worth around $50.00.
These parts are located inches from each other and are mounted with two screws and only have a few wires to terminate. I understand that companies markup parts, so lets say they markup the two parts 100% which I would think would be on the higher end. Now the $50.00 in parts is now $100.00 in parts for company profit. They also have a $69.00 service charge. Here is how the Standard Rate reads on the service ticket. $69.00 Evaluation Fee + $371.00 parts and labor for contactor + $371.00 parts and labor for capacitor = $811.00.
If I subtract the $100.00 for the parts comes to $711.00.Then divide that $711.00 by the two hours the service man was at the house, Thompson charged her $355.50 PER HOUR. He actually worked on those two parts less than two hours because they also sold her a Thompson Club Membership they also performed a cleaning and inspection for an additional $89.00. She ended up paying them $900.00 for the service call. After this being said, its interesting to subtract the possible $100 in parts from the $900 in charges, which obviously gives you $800. Divide the $800 by the two hours of labor and Thompson rate is $400 PER HOUR. Who in this world earns an hourly wage of $400 an hour?
This Club Membership includes things such as a Whole House Plumbing and Tune Up that includes Faucet Aerators and Dye Tablets. I guess they check the faucet aerators for mineral deposits and then tell 72 year old widow how important it is to resolve the newly found problem. I hope they would give a club member a break and only charge her the $355.00 per hour rate to clean this.
The next day I stopped into Thompson World Headquarters on N. Commence Ave in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Service Manager I needed to talk to that day was not in the office at this time. I was able to express my concerns with a very nice and professional employee. She told me that hourly rates are set on national averages and I would be contacted by someone tomorrow regarding my concerns. I was indeed contacted the next day and ask what my concerns were. I asked for a refund for Thompson Club Membership and was informed they return the $89.00 as soon as possible. That leaves the total charges for this service call at $811.00 charging around $355 per hour. Thompson offered no more information or explanation of their charges.
I refuse to beg and grovel for some type of a refund even though I feel that they took advantage of my elderly mother. My mother agreed and signed for the charges and she will pay them- Thompson offered no restitution, so I can only assume Thompson stands behind their rates and service charges. As you can probably guess her AC unit stopped working doing a summer hot streak when going without AC is difficult for anyone at any age.
Kyle L was very polite and informative of what he was doing. He explained to me what he fixed and what probably caused the problem. Called for service and he came on the same day.
We called Thompson late on a Saturday afternoon to service our broken air conditioning unit and the dispatched team was friendly. They sent out a service guy the next morning. Thanks!
Water Heater Evaluation
Justin was very thorough and professional in presenting all of the options from which we have to choose in replacing our 22-year-old water heater. The water heater continues to work OK, and so we wanted a low-pressure professional evaluation so that we can weigh our options prior to the replacement becoming an emergency. Justin provided just such an evaluation. Thanks, Justin and Thomson!
Excellent, honest, Service. Technichian was very knowledge-able and Friendly.
Great job Kyle
This was our first time using Thompson Plumbing Heating & Cooling and now understand why I see so many signs in our neighborhood.\r
\r
The Heating & Air Technician Hubie was awesome. Not only was he on time, polite and pofessional, he took the time to explain and show me problems he had uncovered with our system. He didn't talk over my head and explained his findings in a language I could understand.\r
\r
It's not every day you get to give feedback on service in a good way therefore I wanted to give props to Hubie for providing outstanding service. \r

I have used Thompson for about 12 years now and am never dissapointed. They are always on time and go over everything in detail to allow you to make an informed decision as to if it is in your best interest to repair or replace. They automatically call me twice a year (once for heating and once for my a/c) so that I can stay ahead of any problems. I am so impressed with their service they have become my plumbers as well. Good pricing, professional and on time, it's hard to argue with that!
thompson heating&colling the best for all your heating and cooling .stan p was my service person ans he was freindly also took care of cooling needs.i wuold recommand thompson everytime.
Jake N. was very helpful and professional. He provided outstanding service and helped us understand what was going on with our AC. He didn't try to upsell us on things we didn't need. We are very pleased with his work. We highly recommend Jake and Thompson to everyone.
Nick came to do the yearly maintenance on our A/C. He came on time and did a good job and didn't try to sell me lots of extra things.
I've actually had to use Thompson several times in the past few months for different issues and a I have been very pleased.
Justin C. came to fix several things - two toilets, some sinks, etc. He was prompt and cleaned up quickly. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because it was a very expensive job! Obviously that's not Justin's fault and it's probably comparable to other plumbers in the area. Thanks Thompson!
Thanks Jason B. for your friendly thorough service.
Stan P. was great. He came in and reviewed our equipment and explained everything to us and answered all our questions. He is highly recommended.
Always professional, timely, and knowledgible from my first stressed phone call to when they fix the problem !! I have used them in the past and will continue to use them.
All of Thompson's employees are extremely polite, professional, personable, promt, knowledgible and helpful. They come out twice a year for routine maintenance and upkeep of our furnace and air conditioner and once a year for plumbing. We have never had any problems with them. They are great to work with. Side note they also are very big supporters and contributers to are veterans. We will happily continue to use them and would recommend them to anyone.
We have contracted with Thompsons for the maintenance and upkeep of our furnace and air conditioner. They are extremely professional, prompt and efficient when scheduling and providing their services. Great explanations of all recommended servicings and very competitive pricing for the services. Highly recommend this company!
I bought an old house last June and got in a little over my head on what to do about an eclectic list of sewer, drain, and plumbing issues. I also needed to get back on a maintenance schedule for my HVAC. I called Thompson Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, sent the team a very long list of repairs I wanted to start chipping away on. They were there the next day exactly on time, on schedule with a 4 man team of pleasant, helpful guys. We talked through the estimate, they assisted me with an easy finance project and they were ready to go. They replaced our vintage dual leaky tub faucets with a high end Wolverine lever faucet and went above and beyond in restoring and grouting the tile around it with a few spare tiles I had from the previous home owner. They also rebuilt my 8 ft leaky cast iron sewer stack with a PVC stack, shortening a few drain runs so that they made better drain flow from the tub. I suffered no plaster cracking as they were extremely sensitive to my old house, new paint job concerns as they were cutting out the iron work. Jeff was extremely picky about the quality of his PVC stack work and I am now very happy with the drain flow. They also did some light excavation on my sump pump drains and corrected several gutter drain runs in the yard to solve water issues reseeping into the house. The biggest job they helped with, however, was with the trenchless sewer repair. They were patient with their camera work, showed me every gap in my very long, broken clay drain line and let me watch the entire resin process of their relining service, only needing to cut a small 4 x 3 hole in my basement without wrecking all of my new spring plantings outside. They also alerted me to a dangerous lead pipe issue that the home inspector missed that I will eventually have abated. I was extremely grateful for their professionalism and fast service. The guys are pleasant and patient. It was a high dollar project but I don't think I would have been as pleased with the results had I gone with the other vendors I spoke with. We'll be working together from now on. Thank you Jeff, Justin, Craig, Dave, and Tina.
I will only call Thompson Plumbing Heating and Cooling. More specifically, I will only request Stan Prather! He is awesome. Very courteous and professional!
They clearly write their own reviews because this company is the worst experience that I have ever had!! They are sales people point blank and sales people that lie to your face! They told me that I need $1385 in repairs on my 3 yr old AC...sound fishy...yeah I thought so also so I called another company! Well Well I had blown a fuse which was $47 plus the service call of $79! Thompson was going to charge me over $1300 for that fuse, once I started to research them on the internet I found out that they do this to everyone. Please do not trust this company, they will take advantage of you.
Waking up to no hot water in the house (especially in February) is not fun. So I called Thompson and they sent Justin and Jerry out right away to help. My old hot water heater needed to be replaced, so Justin gave me my options on what to do. I chose which water heater I wanted and within an hour they had the new unit at my house and started installing it. Both men were very professional and courteous. They took me through the installation process step by step so i understood what they were doing. I felt confident in what they were doing and was very glad I chose Thompson to do the job. Thanks!
Jerry H is great, tries to save me money while resolving the issue.
I had asked them to come out to give me a proposal, and they quoted one price, but when i told them i was going to get another bid, they offered a substatially lower price.
Cannot say enough good things about Thompson! Speedy service, excellent work. The service rep, Nick R., was one of the finest service guys I have ever had in my home. Well worth the extremely reasonable price. I have used Thompson in the past, but now they are my only choice for plumbing (I would use their heating/cooling service also if my warranty on my new furnace allowed)...
Tyson D was my service pro for my ac unit he was very professional and took the time to explain everything that he was going to do to the system.
The customer service I received from Dave C. of Thompson Plumbing, Heating & Cooling was over the top. Never again will I use roto rooter ( notice how I typed the name of business in lower case) because of their crappy performance. That was the second time I was burnt by those guys. \r
\r
After I initially declined service from Dave, I called him back within 10 minutes and asked if he would come back. Even though his day had ended. He turned around and completed a three hour job that roto rooter failed to do. He was very knowledgeable, expericenced, and courteous. Although he wanted to be there for his daughter's basketball try outs, he was determined to complete the job in EXCELLENCE. Thompson Plumbing I will not call any other plumbing company. That's guaranteed! Thanks Dave!
Came on time. Did a thorough job. Made good recommendation for future action.
On time and did an exceptional job of informing me on what I needed. Fair price and expectional service from your tech!\r
I got my furnace fixed promptly and courteously.
Prompt, excellent service was provided by Thompson as usual. Very happy with service tech and his professional attitude and the time he took to explain the problem.
A scheduled routine check of our nearly 30 year old furnace revealed a problem that required the serviceperson, Hubie, to ""red tag"" the furnace, meaning it is unsafe to operate. We decided the next morning to go ahead and replace the unit rather than repair, so I called Hubie to let him know. He was here within the hour with the paperwork, and as I signed the last page the doorbell rang - it was the installation crew with our new furnace. Furnace replacement in 24 hours is pretty impressive in my book.
(11/12/11) I had a scheduled appointment with this location to service my furnace today. I spoke to Jacky, the receptionist. on 11/11/11. I agreed on a price of $78 for a tune up only as she stated this would be the best price versus just a service call that was $69. I was scheduled from 2 to 4. I received a call today at 9 AM from Jacky telling me that other calls had come in and they are wanting me to reschedule, stating that other peoples units don't work and need units worked on versus my unit that just needed a tune up. I said no, I'd like to keep the same schedule and told them that I did not want to use my unit as it's not working properly. Jacky then stated that if it's not working properly then it's going to be a charge of $69 plus a tune up of $78 after. I told her that's not what we agreed on yesterday. She stated that they cant tune up a unit that doesn't work. I again explained to her that it did work, just not properly. We again agreed on the $78 tune up; however left an open window that if it was a diagnostic problem, it would be a $69 charge plus whatever it took to fix the problem. She told me they'd be out from 3 to 4PM. I waited and waited. At 4 PM I called and she said it would be closer to 5PM when they came. I waited again. At 5:30 I received another call from them stating that it would be 6PM by the time they showed up. At 6:30 I left. I had waited 4 hours for them to show up. I had not eaten all day and was starving. At 6:45 I received a call from the technician stating that he was coming out to the house to work on the unit. I told him that I didn't appreciate him calling me after he was already late and that I'd waited on him for 4 hours.
After thinking about it for a while (steaming angry at this point) I believe what they did is they waited to the last moment to see me because my call was just needing a tune up versus the opportunity to make more money for a sales call to the other people's units today.
Each time I was on the phone with them (3 times), I was harassed by Jacky to sign up for a $19.99 / month fee which is more expensive than a tune up. Needless to say this is the absolute worst service experience I have ever had with a company. I've never had a company do a new client like this. I'm calling Delmonde on Monday. While writing this review, I've read about bad reviews on this company, including sabatoge to people's units to make them purchase a new unit at a higher cost. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise.
Ken S with Thompson Plumbing Heating and Cooling was awesome to deal with. He took the the time to explain what was wrong with my furnance and provide me with the pros and cons of replacing versue fixing. I loved his practical approach to the issue.
My againg parents called for a winter cleaning and inspection before turning on ther furnace this fall. The service person first said the 10 year old furnace needed new parts, and at at the age of the unit, why bother - just replace it. When my Mother asked a few questions, he tried a new apporach with a carbon monoxide detector, showing that he had a reading, although my parents' detectors have never sounded. With her children's encouragement, she called another company for another opinion. Absolutley nothing wrong with the furnace - no carbon monoxide. At least when she called to complain, the manager quickly refunded her ""inspection fee"".... so quickly infact that it seemed like he has had this complaint a few times before.
When the Thompson repair guys came to my house to check out my furnace problem, they arrived on time and they wore shoe covers (which they didn't need to do)! They were very polite and professional. They explained to me my problem and were professional and kind from start to finish. I can't see how it would have been any better. Thank you!
Thompson's repair men were very friendly and helpful. They told me step by step what was taking play. The techs were also very good with my grandson, who has disabilities. A++
Worst experience imaginable !\r
Over priced to be sure, but I felt ok at the time 'paying up' just to have needed repairs done professionally.\r
I took advantage of all of their services, plumbing repairs, as well as a new heating & a/c system.\r
Definitely paid too much for all, but like I said, I could justify that to myself just to have it all done & done right,\r
Well, the new heat pump is noisy & the system rum almost constantly trying to warm (only 1,000 sq ft).\r
The 25 year old system that they removed was doing a far better job of heating, (it""s 47 degrees no, what will winter be like ???) Thermostat mounted crooked, Breaker switch actually installed sideways ! hello ?\r
& that was the GOOD part of my review !\r
OMG, The plumbing ! \r
Again, seriously overpriced & everything that they worked on needs to be re-done when I can find (& afford) a REAL plumber to come out again.\r
For some reason I had expected them to be REAL plumbers, OMG was I wrong ! NEVER AGAIN !\r
\r
Can anyone recommend a good (& honest) plumber in the area ? because I need one now more than I did before the Thompson people laid out the red carpet !\r
\r
Zero Stars on this job !\r
(Shows 1 star only because city search requires it to post)\r
I'm beyond disappointed, I'm pissed off at what they did here. \r
\r
I see lots of very good reviews on here, and that weighed into my decision up front to go with Thompson.\r
Perhaps they have some very good plumbers, etc in their workforce, but I can only speak from my experience. The ""plumber"" that I got has no right calling himself a plumber. Everything he worked on needs to be 100% re-done. He even managed to create new problems where there were none. \r
Be careful...\r
I don't know who to recommend, other than someone else !
Dont stop theres nothing to improve
