... with good reason. If parents/guardians and the kids do their homework then the kids will get a wonderful education. I think the real proof of how good a school system is may be found in the end result, that is how well a student does after graduation. All of our children spent K-12 at Wolftrap Elementary, Kilmer Inter. and Madison High School. Now all in their 30s, two with distinguished military service and each with at least one college degree, they are 1) an original 'net IPO rich kid with his own company 2) a manager in int'l banking in NYC 3) a manager for a Fortune 5 company and the youngest ever promoted to that level in its history and 4) a resident in pediatrics. Along the way in their early education there were highs and there were lows: speech therapy, remedial mathematics, ap courses, school plays and concerts, being chosen or not chosen for a sports team, tutoring, summer school, being bullied, gifted classes. Their high school guidance counselors, which followed each kid for his/her entire four years, were extremely valuable.

FCPS has some of the best schools in the nation. The funding is terrific for these schools. Expect to be at the hands of the latest technology and materials. Books were almost always new at my schools, and there was tons of computers to use for research and to use in tech classes. The teachers are also outstanding (for the most part). The schools in Fairfax County are a major reason to live here.
