Villa Springs appears to be a clean, well cared for facility. The therapy staff seems to be very diligent and caring in their job. The aids are friendly and most of them seem to be conscientious when caring for the patients. (One aid was exceptional. Her name is Char.) However, the staff seems to be extremely short handed and overworked. When a patient calls the aid to use the restroom, sometimes it is 10-15 minutes before they can respond. One time we were told two aids went on break. The one remaining aid did not have any assistance to get our father to the restroom. We were told he would have to wait until they came back from break.

We did experience some major problems while my father was there: My father fell his first night at the Villa. We were not informed of this for a week. My father contracted MRSA. We do not believe this was treated as seriously as it should have been. His roommate should have been moved. I am not sure his roommates family were even informed.

My father experienced a major setback approximately a month after he went to the Villa. This was about the time he contracted MRSA. (He went there to get stronger after having a mild heartache. My father also had Alzheimers.) He became very incoherent. The doctor prescribed a different Alzheimers medication. He had been on this one before. It caused him to sleep all the time. We informed the staff. The head nurse said it was not the medication, but he was in hibernation mode because of the beginning of fall.

My father passed away at the end of September, 2013 while at the Villa. We were told he was nonresponsive when they went to get him for dinner. They had found him in a similar state earlier in the day, but were able to wake him. They said they considered sending him to the hospital, but did not.

Shouldn't the family been considered in this decision.

My 93 year old mom was sent to Villa Springs of Erlanger, KY for respite care, after being hospitalized for pneumonia. The people who worked there did nothing close to caring for her...in fact, it was pure NEGLECT. They refused her medications and breathing treatments, made her wait 45 minutes to get help for the bathroom, and were downright mean and argumentative. My mom is fully "with it" and could tell me everything that went on when I wasn't there (though I witnessed it myself when I was), so I feel truly sorry for the patients that can't speak up for themselves. Beware! Nurse Tina was nothing short of an evil witch. The absolute worst part was when they left the window WIDE OPEN all night long with the temperature in the 40's and my mom right next to it. My mom became very ill, and was taken back to the hospital with pneumonia, compliments of Villa Springs. Stay FAR AWAY from this HORRIBLE place if you care about your loved ones...it is like a bad NIGHTMARE!

My father went to Villa Springs for rehab for a hurt lower back. They kept him the maximum number of months paid by his insurance company. While there they put him on strong pain meds and antipsychotic drugs (because he kept saying he wanted to go home) that made him zombi-like. They also changed all his blood pressure, heart and other medications so we would have to see multiple doctors to have him released. We went to four doctors to get his medications back on track and each one told us to get him out of Villa Springs ASAP. We did everything Villa Springs told us to do and they still would not release him because we did not have a wheel chair ramp installed to his house. He had never been in a wheel chair before visiting their rehab program, however, they informed us he would be wheelchair bound from this point on. Some rehab program they have. You walk in and get wheeled out. Long story short, we took him home without the Villa Springs doctors consent. That was a year ago and he has not been in a wheelchair since. We have a number of family members and close friends that are in the healthcare industry and each encouraged us, after seeing his paperwork, to file a grievance. Didn't want to go through the hassle and decided this warning would suffice. No doubt in my mind Villa Springs will be in trouble again with the legal authorities soon enough. My neighbor has a dog that yaps a lot and I wouldn't let his dog go to Villa Springs for rehab!

all of the comments on looks can be disceiving are correct. place usually in general looks ok and decorated. however, my grandmother has fallen 5 or 6 times at least since her stay there now 4 times in the last two months. is this isnt nursing home neglect i dont have an answer for what it. my grandma has had 11 more stitches put in her head today at 88 years old bec ? someone let her fall in the shower and our family was told they had a talk with the employees that let this happen... A TALK? actually we were told they had been counciled lol!! Did i mention my 88 year old grandmother has dementia so she cant tell whats going on to her... she had a hernia for almost 6 months and threw up everything she ate and it went un noticed and now the falls are coming monthly and shes in a wheel chair so how is she getting hurt? I will fight for the residents there and do everything i can to get this place noticed and things done to stop the neglect of this older patients that cant protect themselves...

I would just like to say yes all the comments are true these are the facts. Sadly to say these are the facts of all the nursing homes always short of help. To be honest with you if you have a family member in a nursing home be very involved in their care. Visit often as you can. mostly the people that are employed there are doing their best but their just isn't enough help. They make the nurses responsible for so many things give meds to 25 people. chart on 10 people. verify all these orders, and do four skin assessments. wow the list goes on and on. Visit family in nursing homes often and know what is going on with them. Know if they are having skin issues if they are getting them up out of the bed. if you have a family member that you are making comfort care you might want to take them home because they are not doing anything for them anyway.

WE had a loved one in Villa Spring for 5 months. The neglect, the laziness of those who work there caused us to hire a caregiver to go over and insure that she was taken care of. She was barred from there after reporting numerous issues. After our loved one was assulted twice and observed a procedure being done while the person giving the test was on a cell phone. Urinary tract infections and dehydration was the norm that went untreated. We finally snstched her from what wass going to be a death sentence. Recently after seeing the US Attorney's office take action we decided to start proceeding to prevent this type of treatment to others loved ones. If you have a loved one, or have been an employee that has watched in disbelief of the actions of this facility we urge you to contact Jay Vaughn; Website: northernkentuckyinjurylawyer.com or or his Blog;

There are many folks in that hell whole that need to have their dignity and rights protected. Remember someday it could by you sitting it that hell whole.

My mother was taken to Villa Springs nursing home in August 2010. She was unable to be taken care of at home so we made the fatal decision to take her to Villa Springs. The nursing staff did not listen to anything we had to say or suggested as far as her care. My family basically took care of her while she was there. She died from a fall at Villa Springs under their care, none of our family members were present when the fall happen, she was there less than 2 weeks. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE AND NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN.

I was involved in a car accident. From the hospital I was admitted in VillaSpring of Erlanger Skilled Nursing Facility. I trully believe that I am back home now and feeling much better due to the outstanding and professional job done by each one of their staff members. The place itself is beautiful, which helped with my emotional distress. The therapists worked very hard to have me back on my feet. They have a lot of fun activities for the patients to do and make their stay there more pleasant. I was bed bound for 6 weeks and the nurses helped me in all my needs. They were available as soon as I called them. Every staff member was friendly, caring and understing of my needs. To all of the ones who have written negative reviews you should know that a lot of the personnel is new. My family had the opportunity to visit other rehab centers before my admission here and they were pleased with my stay at VillaSpring. Other rehab centers or nursing homes were dirty, and the condition they keep their patients is miserable. VillaSpring allows for family members to visit 24/7. My family visited me at different times of the day and experienced just the best service at all levels. It was a blessing to have recovered there.

My family member worked at Villa Springs for several years. They treated her awful. They gave her 14 patients to handle all to her self. They treated her as if she was some kind of work horse on top of that she is pregnant! She wascalled into the office and fired! ! They said because of a work schedule. She has documention showing she was there when she was scheduled to work. Is it because she complained about the patient treatment? Because she is pregnant and dont want to give her maternity rights? I would NOT send Family there for treatment of send any one ther for employement!!!

What I think is horrible is that you all are sitting at your computer typing a review on a place that is so "abusive" to the elderly yet I don't hear anything about you all removing your "loved ones" if this facility is that awful perhaps you should get your family out of there now instead of typing on the computer!

Used to work here. This place is awful!! Appears nice and clean but dont be fooled. Management sucks majorly. The DON is never around and never returns calls or looks into things. She is NEVER on the floor. Nurses and aides are way over worked. 14-16 patients to 1 aide is ridiculous. Nurse ratio is higher than that. Staff was available but company is too cheap to pay for help. They would rather spend money on new flat screen tv's and plants. The only time you see managers and the administrator help is when state is in the building. Save your money and go somewhere else!

I had to put Mom in Villa Springs. I took care of her for 15 years, and has since became disabled myself. When I made my appointment to talk to a lady named Mary Lou Carothers, she done the admitting, and she explained to me Mom's one check would go there and then her out of pocket expense would be about $20.00 more a month. I would take money up there {cash} so I would be ahead. Not one bill came to my home until 13 months later for the outlandish amount of $3200.00!! I called up there to get a straight answer, and all I was told is that Mary Lou told me the wrong amount because she couldn't get into the system to give out any figures and I have to pay it or they are putting my 74 yr old Mother out. I have made various payments, they take the money, but they are still putting her out, and the amounts never go down. When I pay with cash it doesn't show on the bills they now send. Mr. Mueller said cash doesn't get put on computer printout bills. I am in a wheelchair with Rheumatoid Arthritis, cannot hardly walk and tendons are deterioted in both feet. Please why won't they give a reasonable amount of time to pay off THEIR mistake. plus my husband fell 20 ft from a ladder and crushed his knee and 4 cervical vertabrae in his neck. I take any extra money up to them that I get, so I can't even get my wheelchair I need, motorized because of my hands. How can they be so heartless? Mom has gotton MRSA in her feet, her legs are black. You can't tell me that whoever puts her shoes on every day didn't see this. I can't get help no where, and I have tried everyplace. I honestly feel this is not my mistake, but my poor Mother is going to be the one to pay. I hope you at Villa Springs can sleep at night.

Praise theLord!!! The Ky Attorney General's Office is finally looking into what really goes on at that hell hole and how the staff miss treats its residents. I knew if I prayed hard enough the Good Lord would do the right thing and send some one up there and see for their selves what horrible conditions these poor people are subjected too. I wonder if Governor would put someone her loves in this dive. Not!!!

I work at Villasprings, and I feel bad for every resident there! I would NEVER put a family member of mine in that place. Everyone there is only looking out for themselves and what it takes to get them money. 1 outta 5 actually care for the residents.
I dont care if it means I would lose my job this place should be shut down.

My dad has been in Villa in Erlanger since last July. He loves it and says they are his family. We, as family, have not had any complaints and some of us are there every day at different times. Nurses and aides have been wonderful to him, taking very good care and very kind, helpful, caring and treat as their family member. Workers have all been kind and helpful and I always have had the nurses listen to me if I have to ask a question. It's clean and I am glad Dad is in Villa rather than others places here.

I have a family member that worked at this facility and they can confirm all the comments on here. My family member is a very caring and hard working person but could not say the same for most of the others that worked at this place. This family member was frustrated to say the least with the staff and management and their complacent attitudes about the residents and the staff they hire in general. My family member stated that the people they hire in this place are very questionable and most of them are VERY LAZY. My family member stated that only a few employees, one being my family member, would do all the work while the others would take shortcuts or just not do anything at all. The management would complain to the employees that worked their butts off about things that were not getting done rather than address the incompetent, lazy employees that they hired that were not doing anything but taking long smoke breaks. The scary thing is, the management would sit back and allow this irresponsible behavior to continue. Apparently there is an issue with the people running this place and no one is doing anything about it. DO NOT let the appearance of this place fool you. It's what is on the inside that counts. My family member has since left working there and is now much happier at a facility that is not as fancy but has a much more caring and supportive staff. The only way to stop this from happening is to spread the word about this place.

This Nursing Center is beautiful. My first impression is this is where I want my love one to be if they cannot function at home. However looks are deceving. If and when you decide to put your love one is this place, PLEASE, PLEASE take a day or two to go over there at different times of the day just to observe. The staff does not give a hoot or care about your love one. They are all to busy being into their selves. The level of care that they give these residents is heart whrenching. They are slowly killing each and every person that lives there without even touching them. Shame of St. Elizabeth Medical Center for subjecting any and all of there patients that they choose to send there for rehabalition and long term care.

Shame of St. Elizabeth Medical Center for subjecting any and all of there patients that they choose to send there for rehabalition and long term care.

This is about Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport Kentucky...DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE'S HERE - the say they care about their patients, they don't - they let my Mother walk out of the Alzheimers unit and she was missing for over 4 hours! They had other reports of this happening and neglect of patients which included a tube-feed patient that hadn't been fed for days...do yourself and your family a favor, check out the nursing home before you send anyone anywhere...you can see the deficits and read the rules and regulatory mandates by clicking Nursing Homes in your tool bar - BEWARE OF BAPTIST CONVALESCENT CENTER IN NEWPORT!!!!!

My Boyfriends' dad has been at Villa Springs for a few weeks. I have visited several times and i have stood at the nurses' desk for several minutes while three nurses had casual conversations and they never asked if they could help me. I had to rudely interrupt. This happened every time i visited I visited Thursday evening and he was fine.it was at least 85 degrees in the room. at 85 degrees it is very hard to breath if you are not have breathing problems which he did. They had promised him a fan but he never got it. He said he had not been out of the bed since he got there..No tv or phone. Friday morning he was found a couple hours after he passed on. still no cause of death. they only want a medicare card.

This place is clean yes BUT, my grandpa is in there and they will not shower him, They left him in his own waste for hours and lied to my face about it. I Dont understand how people can be so heartless to him. We have spent alot of money in this place for him to stay, And for what? For him to sit there and pee for hours on end. We are removing him a.s.a.p. And like someone eles said, They do put the call button outta reach. He had a stoke. I would never want any others loved one to go there. Its Not Safe

My great-grandmother is a FORMER patient at the center. At the beginning of her stay at this center which she went to in order to rehab from back surgery, my family and I were suspicious of the way she was being treated. We figured in order for a place like that to stay open they are probably under strict command and we were most likely over thinking the situation. On Wednesday, May 6, 2009, our worst fears turned to reality when after dinner at Charlie's my mom and dad went on a spur of the moment visit to the center. When they walked in they were mortified. I think mom put it best when she said, "She just had a "help me" look in her eyes." The nurses then argued about calling an ambulance with my mother. When my grandmother finally was able to arrive to the ER we found out she had suffered a heart attack. The doctor said that she had suffered the heart attack 3-4 days prior. This information was pretty interesting considering the "nurses" at the center told my mother that grandma had only been suffering since 5:30 that evening. The fact that they were so wrong about that leads me to wonder if they were even monitoring how she was supposed to be monitored.

Recently, family decided to admit Grandma to the center. There less than two weeks, she was confined to her room, no activity, no physical therapy, no contact with the outside world. I've come in and they've put her in bed for the night at 4 in the afternoon, leaving her alone in the dark and scared. Also, the nurses do not put her call button within reach, so she can't even call if she does need up for toileting. They dress her in the same clothes for multiple days, though she has plenty to wear. She recently lost all vision and I found her in the dining room, full foods in front of her and no one to help her eat. She tried, but couldn't even reach the plate. I stayed and fed her while she sobbed about the neglect. It sickens me! The place is all looks and no service. The staff is usually sitting in the halls chatting with each other while call lights need attention. I've reported it to the Commonwealth, to no avail! Who is going to stand up for these residents!!!

My Grandmother was recently admitted to Villa Springs Nursing Center and I had anxiety about what I would find when I went to visit. I am in the medical profession and have seen my share of bad examples of nursing homes.

Villa Springs was a breath of fresh air from other facilities across the US and in the area. The facility is new and up-to-date in the line of thinking toward the seniors living there.

My first impression was that I was walking into a hotel. There were no offensive odors, the facility could not be cleaner and the food was very tasty. They encourage a life-style not a place to lie in a bed. The staff was very friendly and they have done an excellent job at caring for my Grandmother.

I would recommend a visit if you are considering finding a comfortable home for your loved one...

This facility is very clean and very nice; however, the same cannot be said for the nursing staff. Medicines are being withheld from the patients, the nursing staff has problems following doctors' orders. The Administrator is said to be out of the facility when he is sitting right in his office. The DON says she will check things out and then never follows up on her promises. The nursing supervisors do not even know what medications or supplies are even in the facility. This particular facility has been on notice from the Commonwealth of Kentucky twice in the last year and it is not any better for it. The Commonwealth of Kentucky definitely is not doing its job either. I would suggest that just because a facility spends all its money on making these look attractive that a family look beyond this and check out other things before placing their loved on in this facility.
