It has always irked me that this tanning salon pulled a fast one on it's customers.
My daughter bought a package on December 30th, tanned once and when she returned a few days later, the place was locked up, brown paper on the windows and NO notice on the door.
Whoever added the comment here that "they called all of the customers and offered a refund or membership at Franklin Mills" is full of bull. They did NOT call people and my daughter is STILL owed the money they stole from her. The owner of the Lee's Hoagie shop next door was just as furious because he was getting blasted by angry Tantopia customers and he had no idea what they expected him to do.. he has nothing to do with these crooks.
The TRUE owners who run the stores in Chalfont and Souderton are upstanding, decent business people who would never treat people this way. Also the hired help in the Newtown store should have all been fired. They were rude, NOT helpful, and stood around talking on cell phones instead of taking care of business.

I signed up in May08, asked if they were going to close any time in the near future... I was told no. I go in June, doors locked an no one is there other than a sign telling customers to go to Warmister! Too far for me, its at york and street road. I paid for a 3 month plan. I want my money back!! This is Bullsh****

I was given one of those gift certificates for Christmas. And I opted for the refund instead of tanning at the Franklin Mills location b/c of reasons having to do with driving distance. They told me I would have to come into the Franklin Mills Tantopia and have my certificate dated and signed and they would shortly thereafter send me my refund by mail. Not only have I still not received it (I went in January 8th 2008 for the refund and it is now May 18th 2008) But I have called several times about it since and the employees say they can't contact the owners by phone - only fax. They gave me the fax and I faxed the owners a few weeks ago. Still no refund. Talk about shady!

Tantopia Newtown moved in with Tantopia Franklin Mills, called all the customers and offered either a refund or a switchover to Franklin Mills. They were kicked out of Newtown by the landlord, they didn't pick up and run. Get the facts straight--Tantopia has never been anything short of a great place to tan. I would recommend it to anyone, even though Franklin Mills is a bit of a hike.

Tantopia in Newtown did a LOCK AND RUN as of 1/4/2008. They ran a SPECIAL selling $50 gift certificates for $40 all December then CLOSED up the DOORS, put Brown Paper on the Windows, and disappeared with the customers money.

The owners of Tantopia are NOT NICE PEOPLE. This is their general mode of operation - unless you are in business competition with them - then they are just plain NASTY!!!

I'd STAY AWAY from Tantopia and in Newtown - it is GONE with the customers money....

Since the last time I was there (a few years ago) I think they expanded a bit or updated their beds. It's clean and very affordable and the beds give you color! It's nice to see - because some places in the area are still using outdated beds. Their employees aren't always the friendliest - but who needs chit chat. Unlike some salons - YOU need to bring your own eyewear - it's either that or by temporaries for 50 cents or goggles. They won't let you in the bed/booth without seeing your eyewear. This seems like a nice rule - but make sure you comes prepared. If you're coming from another tanning salon - they have a rule that as a new costumer - you must start at the minimum time and work you're way up. BUT judging on your current skin tone, the time is subject to change for any person. Not that big of a deal if you go every day - you'll get back up to full time quickly - and you might not be in such a rush because guess what - their beds DO tan! I'm getting some nice color. Also - make sure you grab a towel before you go in the bed - because there isn't one in the room prior to going in. Some salons set a towel in there - this one doesn't. The place can be busy at times - in the afternoon and on. Beds are the most popular - which will leave you with a stand up booth - but not to fear - they provide nice color as well - they also have comfortable hand straps to rest your hands in - unlike some stand ups that use poles - which can get hot. So if you want a bed - best bet it to get there in the A.M.

Good prices - they run specials as well. Currently I got a 2 month package for $30, a one month is $20.

At first I really liked this place. It was clean and bright, tanning capsules looked brand new. Hours are very convenient and you hardly ever had to wait for the booth.
They often have discounts on their lotions and other stuff, including tanning packages.
There are lots of good deals for new customers advertised in the local magazines.
It was all good until one day they told me that my tanning sessions expired. At that time I had about 3 or 4 of them left out of 15 that I didnt use yet but already paid for them.
Apparently their policy is that if you dont use your sessions in a year after purchasing them they will expire. First of all none of the salons I went to before including Hollywood tanning had this kind of policy, second of all no one told me about it when I was buying the package and third it was mentioned no where on my receipt or anywhere else in their rules. When I asked them to reimburse me these sessions or let me use them they refused. What killed me the most is that nobody reminded me during the course of my membership about this policy and that my sessions are about to expire. Sounds like a cheap way to make their money on cheating their clients out of the tanning sessions.
