I guess I'm spoiled--being that I'm from Califonia, where there are about 10x as many amusement parks as Utah--so I didn't find Lagoon to be all that great. None of the rides, to me, were spectacular, or "wow"ed me, except for Wicked.

I do, however, like the fact that Lagoon has a water park. For the most part, I really enjoyed Lagoona Beach--especially its lazy river. I just did not like the fact that to rent a tube it costs $5. Not too bad, but where it becomes apparent that Lagoon is out to "nickel and dime" you is, when, instead of receiving a monetary deposit back, you will instead receive a coupon for a soda. That seemed really chintzy.

What else seemed chintzy was the fact that when you were to ride Rollercoaster, and a few other rides, instead of having cubby holes for you to place your purse, phone, backpack, whatever, they instead have lockers that charge you 75 cents to hold your stuff while you ride a coaster that's MAYBE 1 minute long. Nickel and dimed, again.

But the absolute WORST part of the park is the animals. My, I just could not help myself from saying aloud as we passed them on the train ride, "Wow, I feel so bad for these animals. What a sad life..." I cannot stand to see animals encaged in concrete! It's horrible. I also felt incredibly bad for the elk and a few other animals who were in their enclosures ALONE. Some of these animals are social creatures! The tigers and other large cats have to live on pavement their whole lives with a train that passes every ten minutes blowing its horn in their ears? To me, it's animal cruelty, and I highly suggest Lagoon give their animals away to someplace where they'll be properly cared for!

Now, I got into the park for free, but the price for an adult to get in for a day pass is $45.

All I can say is, if you're rich, then spend your money at Disneyland!

@Thomas:
Your pay is $6.25 an hour. I would reccomend not talking about your job on here. According to lagoon policies you are at risk for termination. I am a supervisor here and advise you be careful in the future about what you say online. Especially about your place of work

Lagoon doesn't provide very good time coverage. Once you hit all the decent or good rides (and stared at all the downed rides, the Wicked is frequently down) , you've got nothing left to do, unless you want to play games. Most of the fun rides (ROLLER coasters and the rockets) only last a maximum of 45 seconds. Plus the "sit n' smoke" stations are placed right next to rides where you sit still, and on the exits/lines of the best rides. It's pretty annoying, and I'm going to be working landscaping (14 years old) (does anyone happen to know the payment, because it didn't say on the site.

They're not a main attraction by any means but there's a zoo at this amusement park where animals are held next to noisy rides in not-so-great conditions. It was shocked and how sad and sickly a lot of these animals looked.

After doing some digging it turns out Lagoon has had numerous Animal Welfare Act violations over the years from the USDA. Some are pretty horrific.

I also came across this YouTube video of local residents and patrons speaking out against the captive animals here: http://youtu.be/vSTxZRH8QXo

If you love animals, I'd advise another form of entertainment by going somewhere that doesn't profit form imprisoning and mistreating animals.

I am a Utah resident not too close to Lagoon, but I have been many many times. I have always enjoyed it, and I always look forward to going back. Yes parts of the park are a little old, but that's what gives it character. If your expecting Disney land than go to Disneyland. If your a happy fun person than you'll have a happy fun time. If your some one who likes to be miserable to complain and get free stuff than you'll be miserable any where you go. I love Lagoon and will return many many more times and build mermories with my children that wll last a lifetime, because no matter what or where I am that is what I choose to see and have in my life and for my family... :) It is a good idea to take your own food and snacks. If the policy is still the same, you can take a cooler in with you and leave it on the grass. My philosophy is that if some one is hungry enough to steal my cooler of food, then they need it a whole lot more than I do and I hope they enjoy ham sandwiches. :) :)

I've gone numerous times, and most of the time it's fun. Some of the down sides are: Its dirty, most people there are wierd teenagers, i've gotten spit on from someone on the skyride, twice, the staff are definitely incompetent, and it's way overpriced. The good side of it is that its the only amusement park in the area, and the rides are fun. I would plan on bringing your own food. Also be weary when walking under the skyride, and if something happens, you should know that the staff will do nothing about it. The reason I still go is because I love going on rides! Lagoon cannot be compared to Disneyland, as Disneyland is in a seperate class. (But if you must, Disneyland is 20 million times better in every way)

DO NOT take your family to this amusement park! The staff, including security, guest relations, AND the company President are rude and inconsiderate and do not care about dispicable events that may take place at the park. My daughter was actually SPIT on by a man on the Skyride there and even though they have signs that state they will impose a $300 fine to individuals that do this, they don't follow through. The Security guard was rude, the guest relations supervisor didn't care and the park President replied to my email with extremely rude comments such as " I hope that you and your family will be able to recover some sensibility and put this in reasonable perspective" and "for the umpteenth time, we are sorry". I'm certain that if something like this happened at Disneyland, there would have been a totally different outcome. I wanted them to do something to make sure this didn't happen to anyone else's child but they simply DID NOT CARE. NOT a family oriented business!

I like going to Lagoon. The only problem I have is getting through the turnstiles at the rides, into the park, train ride, etc because I am a little overweight.

I will never go to this theme park or recommend it to other people, the price is so high that for four people it was over 200 dollars. The people was just rude, it is a waste of money. I spend over 500 dollars that I will never get back, do your research on this place big time before you waste your time and money-

For several years my family has purchased group tickets for Lagoon during Frightmares. We have gotten a great deal and enjoyed it immensely until this year. This year we were told we could no longer get group tickets because we are a family and not a corporation. We had to pay for tickets in advance. We were told a terrace would be reserved for us. When we got there, the terrace was taken by another family. We will not be able to enjoy this family fun day that we used to enjoy anymore because not only did they change their policies, but they also were incompetant in this reservation. I am very unhappy with how we were treated. When I complained they did nothing and did not care.

Lagoon is a family oriented amusement park with something for everyone. It's usually overcrowded on the weekends and so I suggest going on a week day. Prices were okay but not really a bargain. The water park is usually at full capacity so you'll have to wait unless you get in first thing. I love amusement parks and have been to many, Lagoon is fun my only complaint is that they don't have the mists of water like most parks that are located in a hotter environment. Also it really is a popular place so it is busy but this is over packed because it's also a smaller park then most.

The last few times I have been to lagoon, I have felt that lagoon is getting old and it hasn't had the upkeep. Especially the old buildings in pioneer village. They update with lots of new rides and keep that part modern. The rides are alot of roller coasters that my body can't handle any more. In the summer it feels almost as crowded as Disneyland. My kids love going here though.

PROS: kids have fun
CONS: crowded

Lagoon is always a fun place to go during the summer. It's pretty much the only amusement park in the state, so it's always packed during the summer months... though they are open a bit during the fall as well. Their prices can be pretty prohibitive....30 dollars or more for just admission into the park. The rides are fun, and there's a good enough variety for all ages. A fun time for all... if you can afford it.

In the entire state, Lagoon is the best amusement park (or the only real amusement park). It's right off the freeway and ticket is only $25. They have 30 rides and 4 coasters, so a perfect choice for locals to have a lot of fun without making a long trip. They also have full service RV park and campground, and the park is lke over 125 acres.

Although it's not quite like six flags, Lagoon sports its own interesting rides. They have kids' rides, a waterpark, and fun rollercoasters. It does have its own peculiar, carnaval-like atmosphere, complete with the smell and the games lining the walkways in the park.

PROS: Good resort for utah
CONS: Sometimes crowded

My family used to go to the Lagoon at least once a year while visiting family in Utah. It's the only real amusement park in Utah but it's a decent one. There are plenty of roller coasters and water rides to go on as well as the carnival type atmosphere to win the huge stuffed animals. Definitely a place to take the whole family since there is a ride to suit everyone! Price isn't too bad and you can usually find discount tickets at the local supermarkets.

Lagoon is a fun place for kids. I do think that it is overpriced. My kids really enjoyed the new rides that they put in this year. There are a lot of nice areas to picnic. The food is pricey but there is a good selection to choose from.

Lagoon is our perfect close to home vacation when we are unable to travel out of state. The kids love to go to Lagoon and I love to go as well. It has lots of rides that young children are able to ride but also rides that adults and teens enjoy. My favorite area of the park is the Frontier Park where they have daily "shootout" shows and you're taken back to the old frontier. They are always offering promotions and coupons so its not too expensive and the kids are never disappointed.

PROS: Fun for the kids close to home
CONS: A little overpriced for food and souviners

Lagoon is the only real amusement park in Utah, and it really is a pretty good one. Summers are usually pretty crowded... I actually like to go better during the fall when they have their 'Frightmares' going on.... the lines are so much shorter and you can go through tons of the rides at once. It's a bit overpriced, but still a lot of fun.

If you're tired of the Six Flags theme parks, or even if you're not close to one, this is the place to go if you're ever in Utah! It's a little further away from Salt Lake, but well worth the trip. It's a good price considering the raising prices of all the national amusement parks and there's lots to do. Not only do they have rollercoasters, there are water rides as well. The rides may not seem very big at first, but when you're on them, it's a whole other story! And it's not just for big kids, little ones will find stuff to do there as well! Look forward to going back next year!

Lagoon is a great amusement park for teenagers, adults, or for entire families. For the teens and adults, there are thrill rides like the Cliffhanger, Sumarai, and the Rocket. There are also the old-time favorites that you remember riding from the time you were a kid like the Jet Star II and the old white rollercoaster. There are also extreme thrill rides like the Catapult (which is awesome!) that you can go on for an extra fee. There is a whole section of kiddie rides. There is also the Lagoon-A beach, a water park that is open during the summer months. They also have the Pioneer Village, which is a recreated pioneer village with a bunch of different shops, and an ice cream shop that is a special treat! During Halloween, they open for Frightmares where most of the regular amusement park rides are open and then they have 3 large haunted houses. The price is worth it, and it's an even better deal if you get a "bounce back" so you can go back a second time for a discounted rate. The season passports are also a good deal if you plan on going a lot.
