No complaints. Their office is nice, staff is friendly, and the selection of apartments they provided on the first go around was perfect. The results from "quick search" I did were accurate to what the agent showed, and I was able to find a perfect spot on the first trip I made. I wish everything was this easy.

I just used Apartment Savvy for the first time and I have to say it was a very pleasant experience. I needed them to help me find an apartment in Lincoln Park, that was in my budget and pet friendly. They got the job done really quick, which is all I wanted from an apartment search service.

I just used Apartment Savvy to find my new apartment in the Depaul area. I was in a hurry to find a place before the fall semester started, so I decided to give Apartment Savvy a shot.

They took me to 5 apartments in the area that were all in my price range. Less than a week later I was moving into my new apartment just in time for school. I would definitely use them to find my next apartment.

They showed me few apartments and we finalized with one. 2 days later we signed the application with apartment savvy and paid 1st month rent and a $$ for application fee. Since I had signed the application form, I started selling my things in home and arranged for movers too.
I did not got any call from them for few days and when I called them they said they were not able to contact the land lord (?!). Later they called me again and said the owner got changed and the new owner is asking for $$ more for rent and $$$ as moving fee which was not told before. At this time I had already informed my current land lord that I will move out and I had rejected all other good apartments which came after I sighned here. I did not got any proper response from these guys and all I was able to do was to get my money back from apartment savvy and start seach for home from the scratch again. These guys are totally useless, beware.

So I had a very positive experience with Apartment Savvy. I had seen about 5 apartments, nothing was nearly meeting our expectations and I was getting very depresed and nervous about moving to a new city. We were refered to Apartment Savvy by a friend who had previously used their service and made an appointment for the following day after being blown off by another agent and seeing some sub-par apartments (granted we weren't in the highest rent range but were definitely not on the low end). We were only in town for two days so we were glad that when we got to their office, several agents got involved with trying to find us an apartment we'd be comfortable with and could call home. After maybe an hour and a half, we saw an apartment that the manager had suggested we go check out. It was great. But as I said, we were leaving that day and wanted to make sure we got everything taken care of because we were moving in two weeks later. One of the other agents had good relationship with the owner and got him to drive over an hour down to this city on his day off just so we could get everything taken care of. I REALLY appreciate everyone's help at their office.

At first meeting, all seems great; the staff is young, friendly, energetic and some-what professional. We (my husband and I) found a great apartment in the exact neighborhood we were looking. We were then pressured into a decision to "secure" the apartment and were told that we would risk loosing the great space we had just seen if we did not act quickly. We filled out an application and paid the first month's rent -which Apt Savvy will take as a payment for their service from the landlord. We were told we could sign the lease in the upcoming weeks and had until the 1st of the month to pay the deposit. (I asked several times if we should stay and sign the lease but as it was passed closing time and they said we should come back on our next trip into town).

Through a series of phone calls I discovered (from the landlord) that the apartment was not "secured" as other apartment finders had it on their listings. We are first time residents in Chicago and were not previously familiar with apartment finding services. We were led to believe when we signed the application that the apartment was ours -realizing of course that we would sign a lease in the coming weeks when we were back in town.

During the following week, I had several questions remain unanswered by the staff at Apartment Savvy. Each time I called, I was given to a different agent, had to ask my questions again and was given incorrect answers. I finally demanded to be put in direct contact with the landlord who was able to answer all of my questions.

Apartment Savvy gave us false information regarding parking, utilities, condition of the apartment (painting). Withheld information regarding extra fees for the building (condo association), moving-in costs and the timing of the deposit payment.

In the end, we signed a lease and confirmed that the space was ours - though NO CREDIT can go to this apartment finding service. If we had not followed up with phone calls, emails directly to the landlord, the space may have been rented right from underneath us.

DO NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE!!! I have many friends who have used Apartment People in Chicago - I would recommend them for anyone new to the city and free apartment services.

After spending countless hours searching for apartments on my own, I decided to give this service a try. Everybody in the office was so friendly! I felt absolutely no pressure. They spent as much time as needed with me and I ended up with a fantastic apartment that I love. It was so much easier than doing it on my own. Leon drove me around and was amazing. I also met Paul, Lisa, Dan, Bryan, and Michael and they were all very helpful. This place is highly recommended!

I'm relocating from NY to Chicago. I flew to Chicago late March to make an appointment with Apartment Savvy to get an apartment. At first, they seemed great. There was no sales pressure, I liked my agent, and she showed me three apartments within my requirements, one of which I LOVED. I went back to the office, filed all the paperwork, and they said there would be no problems, and they would call if there were any. I also made sure they knew that I was from out-of-state, and that I needed to have an apt. lined up before I left for the weekend, and they said, "No problem." This was Friday. Saturday afternoon rolls around, and I haven't heard from them, so I call to make sure everything went through okay. There's a major problem. The apartment falls through because THEY screwed up information about pets, and I wasn't about to give up my cat. I run back late afternoon on Saturday and another agent takes me to three more apartments. I made sure they double-checked the pet policy. I found another one that I liked even more. I go back, fill out the paperwork, put down a deposit, and they say, "There will be no problems." I fly back to NY only to find out two weeks later that it isn't going to work out because they, again, mis-filed paperwork. I was livid, especially because I was planning on moving to Chicago May 1, and now I had to push everything back a month because by then, it was too late for any May 1 apartments. Thank god I have family in Chicago because they went out with Apartment People and found an apartment for me. I faxed them the paperwork, and two days later, everything was good to go and I'm signing the lease today. So now, even though I'm homeless for a month (my lease in NY ends in May), I feel better knowing I have a place.

Bottom line: this company is horrible. They're great at finding you something, but they do NOT have their act together. They also never called me back when I would follow-up. Two weeks is inexcusable to not know about an apt.

Pros: Nice agents

Cons: Everything else, especially the processing dept.

I moved out here from detroit four years ago so I'm not new to the "finding an apartment" game. I've also tried living now in each different area starting off downtown out to where I currently live, Lakeview. I have used a few of the other companies out there, and trust me, I know when someone's being pushy in sales as I'm in sales as well. I felt like Apartment Savvy did a pretty good job about finding some good apartments and deals for me to choose from. The only reason I wanted to post this was I was refreshingly pleased and enjoy my new apartment.

PROS: listened to what I want, saw several good apartments within my requirements
CONS: still couldn't find me a place in the gold coast within my budget
