If you have never been wine tasting before this is a good place to start. They are very warm and inviting with lots of energy. The wine is wonderful and so are the people.

If you've never been wine tasting I would highly recommend you start somewhere like Tobin. The tasting room is well decorated and always seems to be full of fun people; whether they be college kids (like myself) from SLO or the fun loving adults that seem to flock there. Tasting is either free or very cheap (can't remember) and well worth any fee they may charge. All of the pourers are well educated on the wines and just fun to talk to! Great to start since it's a bit farther then most of the other popular wineries and easy to work your way back to the 101 from.

You'll always have a good time at Tobin James. The place is very relaxed and a lot of fun! The bar is one of a kind and it's a wine tasting experience on the Central Coast you don't want to miss! If you like a big, bold red wine, this is the place to go! My fiance was hesitant to wine taste, until I took him here... even he had a wonderful time!

PROS: Fun, relaxed, reasonable prices
CONS: Not a very convenient location

Tobin James is off the beaten path, near Meridian off the 46, and well worth the tire trax. Listen, if you like antique mahogany bars with big juicy zins and merlots, you'll really dig this place. We've been James Gang (membership) for years, and we've never been disappointed. It's like opening Christmas presents per shipment. Their chardonnays, Sangiovese, cabs and syrahs are all world-class and medal winners. Drive there today and pick me up some "Liquid Love".

PROS: Happy in your mouth
CONS: what, are you kidding?!?!
