great gifts and tour

by Nick M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,582

This was a great place to visit. You get a mini bat as a souvenier for taking the tour, but before the tour, order a customized bat with favorite color, size, etc. and it's ready in 20 min! Gift shop is cool too. Just look for the MEGA bat outside.

Nice for everyone

by Ashley S. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,464

I haven't lived here in Louisville very long, but my parents were visiting from Florida and wanted to go to the museum.

I do like baseball, I don't know very much, but I enjoy watching it.

The only thing that bothered me about the tour was the no pictures policy. They said there was another baseball bat manufacturer in St. Louis and they didn't want pictures leaking out...
Well... couldn't someone who used to work at the factory or someone who took the tour just give this information out? Didn't make too much sense to me.

I did enjoy the tour, the tour guide was very friendly and had a sense of humor. I enjoyed my free little baseball bat and the gift shop was nice.

Overall, I do recommend it if you're from Louisville or not.
The price was worth it.

Nice tour!

by Sheldon H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,319

I have enjoyed going through the Slugger Museuem several times. They take you from the beginning where they receive slabs of wood all the way through the process to where they seal the bats and process them for the baseball market.. They even give you a souveneir bat before you go for free. Cost is pretty reasonable even for a family. Nice tour!

Neat factory tour

by J W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,894

We visited this Museum with our grandkids while on vacation. This was a really neat tour that took you from the beginning when the bat was just wood then showed you the process all the way to the finished product. They then gave us all a souvenier bat. Neat tour.

Very interesting tour

by Tonya B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,123

My family are huge baseball fans. This was a treat to see how they make pieces of wood into baseball bats. You take the tour and see the whole process. Very affordable. At the end of the tour, everyone gets a souvenier bat to take home. Very interesting tour! Don't miss pictures in the lobby sitting on the huge baseball glove!

Great Fun - Even if you Don't Love Baseball

by Ginger L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,288

I'm a huge baseball fan, but I've taken all sorts of people - even those that don't care for the sport - and they've all enjoyed the experience! It gives you an appreciation of the sport on a completely different level.

Being a fan, the film at the beginning of the tour always makes me tear-up just a little bit *sniff*. Then you get to go on a factory tour and go through the museum with history, facts, hands-on exhibits and more.

I love the exhibit that lets you experience what it's like to be at the plate with a real major league pitcher throwing a fast ball right toward you!

I highly recommend this place for locals and visitors alike! You at least have to get your picture taken in front of the giant bat!!!

It's ok.

by Jennie Z. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 1,945

I was very bored during this tour, but if you love baseball, then you will probably enjoy visiting the Slugger Museum. It was just very uninteresting and unexciting for me, the best part was getting a little miniature baseball bat at the end which my 2 yr old loves. Definitely go in cooler weather, it was very hot and nasty the day we went, maybe that's why it was so miserable!

Pretty Cool tour

by Sharon W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,286

We really enjoyed our tour of the Slugger Museum. They took us from the very beginning when the bats are just pieces of wood all the way through the process to the end where they seal the bats and send them off for use in the Baseball world. Then at the end they give each guest a mini baseball bat as a souveneir. Not a bad ticket price either. Really great tour!

Fun factory tour

by Hazel H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,945

I've toured the Slugger museum several times. They take you on a complete tour from the time the wood enters the factory and show you how it become a bat that is used by the baseball teams. They even give you a small sample souveneir bat.
