The worst veterinarian ever. My baby goat had the bloat I took him in to get some help Dr. Magnum came in ask what was going on let the room came back with two injections and a oral Med. Said that he did not have the bloat in about 15 sec. He was in the room the second time he only said that he did not have the bloat gave him two shots not telling us what they were and left the room immediately after. My goat died that night of the bloat. And yes it was for sure the bloat. The worst vet ever I will not take another animal there even if it needed to just be put down. Please find another vet and check other sites reviews in total there are more bad than good.

He was my vet until today. Over the past two years this is what has happened to us. I took a dog to them with an abcess under her eye and was told she had an abcess tooth. I dropped her off to have it pulled and when I picked her up the next day No tooth had been pulled and I was charged over 200 for shots. Magnum was the one saying the tooth needed to be pulled and Paul was the one that gave her the shots. We had to leave her again and they pulled the tooth which didn't help her at all and they decided another tooth needed to be pulled which also didn't correct her problem. I had another dog which wasn't acting normal (back hurting) and she was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and Larry Magnum prescribed medicine to treat that. She wouldnt eat or drink anything for 3 days and was about dead and I decided I would rather she her die from a heart attack as opposed to starving to death and took her off the medicine he prescribed her. Four days later she was eating and back to her normal self within 3 weeks. Stupid me took the one with the abcess back to have surgery for the abcess under her eye and I took another dog for him to check him because he had two small cysts. He said it was a simple thing to take the cysts out. I called about picking them up as told and the person answering the phones went to ask if they were ready to be picked up and she came back to the phone and told me they had some emergencies and didn't get to my dogs surgery yet. The next day Larry Magnum said he had actually done the surgeries and she never talked to him. The next day we picked the dogs up at noon and the one having the cysts removed was peeing blood so we took him right back and he was given fluids under the skin by Paul and we were told by Paul he would be just fine. By 10:00 he was getting worse so we called thier emergency number and Paul was pissy about me wanting to talk to Larry Magnum since he did the surgery. Paul gave me Larry's cell number and after Larry and Paul talked they decided the dog would be fine until the next day. At 6am I awoke and my dog was limp and unresponsive. I called their emergency number met Paul there at 715am and my dog was dead by 1015am. This was from having 2 small cysts removed. Later that night I met Dr Magnum at his office because Paul didn't give the right medicine for the one dog with the abcess. At that time Dr Magnum told me the dog that died had renal failure and that he had no way of knowing that without doing bloodwork before the surgery. All he had to do was the blood test before doing surgery and my dog wouldn't have died. I am at a total loss as how this could happen. This dog was perfectly healthy when I took him in. Avoid this vet at all costs.

Dr Larry Mangum was an absolute God send when we had an emergency with our precious, 10 year old macaque. He treated her as if he thought she was as precious as we do. He also sees our other monkeys and is awesome. I find the staff to be super, the Dr is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.

Dr. Mangrum, has been taking care of my Pigtail maccaque monkey Peggy Sue since she was a month old and now she is 3 years old , I live in Columbia Tennessee which is a 4 -5 hour drive to Morristown but it is worth every mile, he has such compassion for animals and primates of all kinds, I would never put my baby Peggy Sue in the care of any other Doctor , I don't know what we would do without Dr. Larry Mangrum.
Best wishes to you and all of your pets, Morrow Faye Raney

you have to be very vocal about what you want. A friend was upset a few years ago when she took her cat to get groomed. The vet sedated the cat and the cat was drunk for two days. This was a gentle cat. So, let the vet know if you don't want that. When something major is up with your animal, the office will always call before proceeding. I have boarded animals here. The cages are clean and fairly large, but there's a lot of animals in one room. If your pet is the only one at your house, this could make him very nervous. The staff is very friendly. If you have an emergency, they can almost always work your pet in.

PROS: location, price, service
CONS: sedate some cats for baths

I had no idea that a 'bird specialist' existed in Morristown until someone recommended Dr.Mangum to me.He is the nicest person, and a gifted vet.He managed to save one of our little finches when we thought all hope was gone. His receptionist is always nice,no matter how busy they are and waiting time is short.Parking is never a problem, and his prices are competitive. For all your pet emergencies,I highly recommend Dr.Mangum.
