I travel for business a great deal therefore my stress level is enormous. In order to rejuvenate myself I set aside one day a month for treatments at Spa Ja. The professional staff and the pristine atmosphere I've found to be unequaled.

As for the waxing ---- when they say Brazilian waxing is the best it really is true. Before beginning the technician took the time to analyse my skin conditon (I had a huge problem with ingrown hairs that has since been corrected)
The mani/pedi again is done with the skill that only the Brazilians seem to master.
If I didn't have my day at Spa Ja I could never keep up with my hectic life style. I highly recommend Spa Ja as a true oasis in an urban jungle.

Roxana is one of the most experience Laser Hair Removal Technicians and Esthetician in New York City. I did my research very carefully on Laser Hair Removal before deciding on Spa Ja. Roxana made me feel very comfortable, she explains the procedures in details, after just 3 treatments of Laser Hair Removal, I see huge differences. With Roxanas background in Esthetician also, she recommended treatments for my face and how to care for my face and skin, even how to apply make-up. I got a lot of good advises from her, I totally trust her recommendations. I had facials and a Microdermabrasion treatments from Roxana, I can say, my face is glowing and smooth.

On a recent trip to NYC I accompanied a friend to Spa Ja. What a treat!
I started with Oceana 5 hydrotherapy that is the most soothing and restorative treatment ever. I left totally de-stressed. I then had micro-dermabrasion and a Brazilian facial that left my sun damaged skin amazingly smooth and fresh. On to the Brazilian mani/pedi. Truely the best ever.
I appreciated the care taken in helping me select face care products for my particular needs. They have a wide array of organic products not found elsewhere.
I highly recommend Spa Ja and hope to go back soon.

I get my laser treatment done by Roxanna who clearly knows what she is doing. Roxanna promptly answered all my questions, and explained the procedure to me in details. Roxanna also gives me extra insight about laser and other beauty treatments. I must admit I was a bit nervous at first since I never had laser treatment done before, but after talking to her and realizing how knowledgeable Roxanna is about laser and various other beauty treatments I was convinced that I was in good hands. She has been my laser go to girl for all my 5 treatments and so far I have no complains. I would recommend Roxanna to anyone. In addition the environment at Spa Ja is so welcoming and relaxing. James and Giovanna make you feel at home. Over all I would recommend Spa Ja to anyone who likes to be treated by true professionals.

I went to Spa Ja, result is simply Spa Nein. After reading all the reviews about their technicians, I thought I would have been impressed. However, their laser seems to be quite strange and much different from all the other consultations I went to. Their pricing was fair but their knowledge of skin is quite low. I asked the technician about some technical information about the laser but she was hesitant to answer my questions. I had a slight tan but apparently they are not able to treat my bikini, even though I was not in the sun for over 2 months !! In fact, she was not comfortable with my questions so I took the information and left. It might be a good spa, but appearently they are not a place for laser hair removal. Because I had really professional consultations at other places.

My experience at Spa Ja was excellent! The staff are courteous and skilled, the atmosphere is pleasant, and services are phenomenal! I highly recommend the oxygen facial. Despite the fact that Flor, my beautician, was really "working" my face, I left the spa looking radiant, and NOT RED! One word of advice...get to your appointment on time; otherwise, you will leave the person after you a little peeved because Spa Ja will not rush through your beauty treatments. Thank you Spa Ja...I will be a loyal customer!

Spa Ja is truly a world apart! The quality of their treatment and the professionalism of their staff is unsurpassed. The manicure and pedicure are excellent;the message with heated stonesan "out of this world experience" and the facials aer pure bliss. Everyone is so welcoming and nurturing I feel as though I'm apart of a wonderful extended family whose only concernis my wellbeing.
Unfortunately for me, I don't visit NY often enough so I always leave with a supply of face products, body soaps and gels and househols sprays. All organic and, as they come from four corners of the EARTH, not available to me anywhere else. I CAN NOT be without them. Never change Spa Ja!

My first review but with such an excellent experience at Spa Ja had to share it with others. During business trip SpaJa came highly recommended by the Staff at the American Express Platinum Concierge and as usual their advice was excellent! Staff accommodated next day appointment. Initial greeting aroma and atmosphere was conducive to serene relaxation. My wife truely enjoyed her deep tissue massage "one of the best ever!" (she is something a spa connoisseur, having experienced many great spas in the US, Hawaii and other parts of the world.) I later joined her for a gentleman's Brazilian pedicure and could not believe how good my feet felt after this. The Spa Ja staff were professional, friendly and extremely good at what they do! The refreshments were delicious. The Spa was the icing on the cake for an already good trip. Cannot wait for our next visit to NY.

On a recent visit to NYC, at the urging of friends, I booked a morning of treatments at Spa Ja. WHAT A TREAT! The staff are knowledgable and at the same time nurturing. They seemed to sense my every need. The massage with heated stones was so totally relaxing that I drifted on to the Oceana 5 hydortherapy room in a trance. This was a new experience for me and a true delight. My aches and Pains melted away and my throat seemd to be cleared from the remanents of a winter cold. I then went on to have a Facial with eyebrow shaping and tinting. (the trickiest of procedures, I have found). I was thrilled with the results. the Brazilian mani/pedi (with their wide array of polishes) more than lived up to my, by then ,high expectations. I'm Hooked!

I went to Spa Ja to get a laser treatment: to remove my hair permanently and to get rid of my ingrown hair. I have to say that Roxanne is the best technician for hair removal. She treated me with patience and care; most importantly she was extremely professional and did an amazing job with my thick hair. Im about to get my fourth treatment, and I do not have anymore ingrown hair. I just have a little bit of hair left, which soon will be gone by the laser. Now, I can freely go to the beach and not care about the dark spots I used to have on my bikini area. In addition, the environment of Spa Ja is very welcoming and the prices are reasonable.

The spa is very sweet and really goes beyond an average spa. The mani/ped was excellent, the tech seems to know if you want to chat or be left alone. Bring your own nail polish as the selection is not very good. Interesting that the spa gets rave reviews on the waxing as I found it to be the most painful i have ever had (maybe me). The waxing was far from complete and when i pointed that out the tech re-did it- but who wants to go through that.

Loved the waxing here! The staff is very friendly, polite, everything was on time and quick. The lady who did the waxing for me was attentive and did a great job! They've got wax that doesn't feel hot and is very gentle on the skin. I also got their brazilian manicure that they advertised and wasn't very happy with it. The manager agreed that the lady did a poor job and asked her to redo it. She redid it, but I still wasn't happy with it. It seemed like the brazilian lady who was doing it was tired and I didn't want to make her redo it again, so I just left. Great management, great waxing with a Russian lady, but bad manicure.

I began going to Spa Ja in December of 2005, after a good friend told me about it.
I made an appointment for a facial & a massage thinking that it would be good 'test'
of the services SPA JA provided....welll 6 hours later I surfaced having had a facial,
a back facial, two massages, some reflexology on my feet during the facial. I felt
as though I 'd been away at a deluxe spa for a week!

In January I returned for some much needed waxing...this was the best I have ever
experienced. It actually did not hurt!
I have become a desciple of Giovanna & her team & will continue to spend the remainder of my 'winter holiday' at SPA JA!
I give all aspects of this exciting new SPA veyr high marks!

I started to go to Spa Ja a few month ago for tanning and laser hair removal and from day 1 it was a great experience. The staff is always wonderfully welcoming: hot towel, tea and those incredible little scones or cookies that make you want to stop by every other day.
Roxanne does a wonderful job with the laser hair removal and seems to master what she is doing.
The ambiance is always perfectly relaxing with no pressure whatsoever.

I had to wait 45 min for my appt. and after adressing this to management I was told "it's a busy night, these things happen". Well that was not enough of an explanation for me, especially after a long day at work. The products they use are nothing special, I guess they are trying to save $ on the products to make more on the services. Would NEVER go back.

WHOA! Amazing experience. I've been there twice. Very smooth. Professionals. From the minute you walk in off the street and are warmly greeted and offered a steam towel, you have entered a sort of meditation experience. I have not stopped telling people about the reflexology treatment. Treatment rooms are all white with white leather comfortable electric lounges like at the dentist. Down comforter. Machine goes on that soaks the whole room with different soothing beautiful colors. I left there floating on a cloud. It seemed like the whole team of people went so out of their way to bring you a beautiful experience. I relaxed in the waiting area and they brought me tea with a fresh mint leaf and a cookie. Thank you each smiling fact at Spa Ja.
Wish i could come more often.
Reflexology and non invasive face lift are amazing.

Without exagerating the best spa experience and massage I have ever had! I arrived from London with a jet lag and the flew so was looking for a spa near my hotel. Arriving at Spa Ja was like taking a warm bath: all the people were so kind and passionate about their profession. I tried the infra red/colour therapy treatment (where you are rubbed in oil with herbs and then wrapped in foil you lay in a cabin) - this was amazing. Then I had a massage from Alexandra; really the best I have had ever! The day after I felt 100 times better! Thanks again for an amazing experience and all the care.

Although I had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment, they apologized sincerely and profusely. However, now that I see that the other reviewer says that they waited 45 minutes, it might not be a coincidence.

I've been getting brazilian waxes for many years over the course of multiple cities, so I know what's good and what is not. This was the best brazilian wax I've ever received. First, they used wax (that hardens) instead of strips. It BARELY hurt AT ALL. Like I said, I've done this plenty of times and it's never barely hurt, and it always really hurts. Anyhow, I loved the the teeny pain factor and the fact that my waxer was very kind as well. Also, although many of their other prices seem quite steep, their brazilian wax is only $55 (before $2 and change in tax). I will 100% return.

The people in the reception were exceptional sweet and so were the workers. However, I had to wait 45 minutes for my treatment. Then during the facial, my easthetician left me under the steam for what seemed like 30 minutes. They did try to make up for it by having someone come in and do a light massage. So I know they are trying. But after a very stressful work week, and tight weekend schedule...a spa experience should be stress free. One more thing, although the results of the facial were good, the products they used don't have the most pleasant smell. With all the spa choices, unfortunately...I may have to wander.

This was seriously the best bikini wax I've had in my life - I had no idea the process could be both painless and thorough. What a relief! The staff was universally kind and attentive, and the environment wonderfully calming (I disagree with the poster who was disconcerted by the black/red theme, which serves more as accents against white and I did not feel interfered with the relaxing vibe). I was greeted with tea and scones at the door, and offered free consultations on their many services. Highest recommendations. I'll be returning for several of their treatments...

I brought my brother for a day at Spa Ja for his 40th Birthday and it was the most amazing day EVER!! How often do you spend a day where everything is perfect? At Spa Ja, it was!! We spent over six hours in this beautiful place and benefitting from every treatement on the menu - we were taken through the process with a wonderful team of people that we ended up kissing and hugging at the end of the day as we finished the day with tea and snacks!! How often have you done that?! After floating home and feeling absolutely amazing, my brother said to me over dinner "that was the nicest gift i have EVER received," making the day truly perfect!!

I had never had any laser done before, and having been really nervous about it, this was the perfect place to start. The woman who does it, Roxanne, makes you feel really at ease and comfortable and explains everything beforehand. She addresses all your concerns and knows what works for you and what doesnt. So far Im really happy with the results and would recommend this place to anyone. The prices are great, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the treatment is tailored to you. No need to go anywhere else!

Spa Ja not only offered great packages, but also competitive prices without sacrificing premium quality on equipment and staff. Roxanne, their primary laser technician, turned out to be one of the most experienced LHR technicians in the city. She explained in detail the procedures she was going to perform and offered valuable advice on where I wanted to be with my body hair removal. Roxanne ensured I was active in deciding the look I wanted and we planned my treatments accordingly. At no time did she encourage to completely remove my body hair as some technicians do. Her friendly professional demeanor put me immediately at ease. The facility was clean and serene. Roxanne provided a relaxing atmosphere and nursed me through the more painful parts with her good humor. Where many places in the city offer a clinical environment, Spa Ja offers an atmosphere of healing, goodness and life.

Excelent service! I went there for manicure, pedicure and leg-and-bikini wax and I got probably the best service ever (and I have always been a frequent SPA-user!). In addition, the owners are super-friendly and they don't force you to buy their things. Their employees are also friendly, yet without being "curious" nor imposing a conversation. The setting is also very nice. This is now my SPA.

Hidden away in my own private room, highly skilled people, where some products are edible and where nurturing the soul is part of the process - I could not ask for a better experience. I have been to so many spas in NY to date and have not found this type of individual care and attention anywhere else. I simply loved my time and will return again and again. My first experience at Spa Ja was on a Friday night at the end of a very hectic work week and in advance of a weekend trade show. The oxygen facial accompanied by reflexology and hand massage left me in the most wonderfully peaceful place, feeling as pampered as a princess. I have a stressful job so I frequent spas. Most NYC places tend to rush through the door so that the post-massage/facial experience is not comforting. The Staff at Spa Ja are fantastic. . . they are nurturing and talented. They welcomed me as if it was their home and they catered to my every interest. It was an experience unlike ANY I have had in the city. . . .I guess I have found my piece of solace in this concrete jungle! In case my last review didn't post - this place is pure heaven. Honestly, the service, skill, and cleaniness was incredible. Best massage I ever had (it beat out the volcanic mud massage in Costa Rica!) Walking up the stairs feels like every worry just peels away. The owner is so wonderful and her stories of Brazil make you feel like home. Her products and her passion show through with every detail.

I found the atmosphere to be both elegant and friendly. The staff are genuine and expertly skilled at what they do. They treat you as if you were the only person there, you're not rushed, they take their time and make you feel comfortable and relaxed. You forget there's an outside world! My wife bought me a spa package for our anniversary. At first I thought it was a lousy gift (hoping for an Ipod), but when I showed up at Spa Ja for my appointment, I was glad I had decided to go. The staff was great, the massage was awesome and the environment was really cool. I never felt out of place as if I were an intruder at a beauty parlor. The staff made me feel right at home and, after a short while, VERY relaxed. Thanks guys. I know what to get my wife now.

I live in Bermuda and stopped into this spa by chance. Its amazing! I plan to go back again. The choice of organic products is very cool. The results of my laser facial were so startling that I am rearranging my schedule to return for the full series. The atmosphere and staff are quite pleasant.

I have been to many new york spas and the overall attention, ambience, energy and attention at spaja were at the top. I felt transported. The facial with foot massage [a little reflexology] was wonderful and the products felt amazing. This truly was an experience I might have been in Europe or Brazil, where these true professionals were from. I have already booked my next appointment for my mother and myself. I will spend a lot of time here.

I have been all over the worldhad massages in Japanese spas in Brazil and in elegant hotels all over the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, hot baths in Turkey, facials, waxes and the works in some of the most highly rated resorts on 4 continentsand I have to say Spa Ja rates with the best. So much thought has been given to making every aspect of ones visit the ultimate in physicaland spiritualcomfort and relaxation. The facilities are superb, the ambience inviting, and the personnel extraordinary. I only wish I could visit every day. I hope they will expand worldwide.
