Spa Ja

This spa is incredible. I have been to so many and this was the first to offer the full package. The staff was so welcoming and the environment was peaceful and relaxing. I had the best manicure ever - the manicurist was not rushed and paid attention to every detail. They have a retail section with some of the most amazing organic lotions, oils, soaps, etc. - I spent an hour just testing the products! They offer a full array of treatments and the technicians were so knowledgeable. I cannot wait to go back!!! This new spa is definitely worth a try - you will not be disappointed.

I've been everywhere........either the service is good, but the atmosphere is terrible or the pedicures are great but the facials break me out. I've been from the Upper West Side to downtown, but no more!!! Spa Ja has it all......great atmosphere, great personal servcie, highly skilled professionals, a product selection that actually had things I had never seen. Relaxing, fun, energizing and beautiful.......and no heavy sales pitches to buy a million treatments and products. And free homeade herbal iced tea! Run now before everyone else finds out..............it's amazing!!!!

First you go through a delicate transition between two worlds: intense city life and a world where all your senses come to peace. You see, smell, hear, taste and feel the touch of purity. Interior arrangements fully capture your attention; it is hard not to see that every inch of the space has been touched by true human care not distorted by this civilization. You are greeted with hospitality, warm hand towel and a cup of tea. Your wallet has nothing to do with it. Every treatment you receive, whether it is a simple smile or a high tech procedure comes from human to human, not seller to buyer. You lose sense of time and at the end you realize you not only received physical treatment, your spirit has also received a lot of attention.

Spa Ja combines the best of Brazilian, Japanese, and European beauty treatments. The bold red and black design is understated, not garish in the least. There is plenty of white to calm things down. In fact, "understated elegance" is what Spa Ja means to me. A manicure and pedicure may take 90 minutes, but that is because they take their time and do it right. The facial I received was incredible! She took 10 years off of my face. The tanning facilites are wonderful, very clean and modern. They have a machine designed to prevent burning. It's my favorite. Spa Ja is well worth the price. Highly qualified professionals, a warm friendly atmosphere, and dedication to excellence -- this is why I keep returing to Spa Ja.

The staff here is friendly and able enough - but it's just so hard to get by the garish theme of the establishment. When you get there you'll see what I mean. I honestly thought that the exterior was a monstrosity left by the last tenant, but upon entering, you see that it was actually intentionally uglied up by the present spa. EVERYTHING including their storefront, interior, website, etc. has been touched by the hand of someone who REALLY, REALLY loves this loud red & black theme.

Doesn't even come close to inspiring the relaxation that I go to a Spa for. If whoever was permitted to "decorate" is still making inovations, I really wouldn't be surprised if there's a disco ball and sequined seat covers in there by now.

Pros: smells nice, friendly/eager staff
