My husband and I also moved to the Noble area from Norman. Growing up in Norman both my husbands and my family were affiliated with the University Of Oklahoma. My parents were grad students and teachers, whereas my husbands father was a tenured professor in the physics dept. As such offspring, we attended the best public schools Norman had to offer at that time. (80's) We both recount the education we received as more focused on social class than creativity and the joy of learning. Clothes, trends and the ever elusive popularity struggles began early there. Thankfully not so at KID Elementary. Our sons kindergarten teacher was the wonderful Mrs. Morris. She was so natural with kids and parents alike, that you could immediately tell that she loved children and learning. She was always available to speak with a parent about their child, regardless of scheduled conference times. The classes are small, and each child gets individual attention, from not only teachers, but other staff as well, such as the nutrition service, administrative staff, etc..not to mentions the many parent volunteers. KID Elementary enrolls all Kindergartners and First Graders in one single school with many small classes and teachers. Next school enrolls all 2nd & 3rd graders, and so on until high school. I believe these more intimate learning environments in the educationally formative years provide a strong, and firm basis for lifetime learning.

PROS: Dedicated teachers, staff. Small classes. Personal attention to students.
CONS: Long drive for many, as this is a rural community

We recently moved to Noble, from Norman, and were so pleasantly pleased when we enrolled our kindergarten aged son in Katherine I Daily Elementary School! It is a small school, where students get more personal time and instruction from the teachers. The teachers, as well as the rest of the staff, really care about their students.

My son's school, Mrs. Morris, is absolutely a blessing! I had been frustrated by the larger school he was in before, as I felt he wasn't really learning anything. I work with him at home, so I know that he loves to learn, and is capable of doing many things that they were not doing. On his second day of class with Mrs. Morris, he came home spelling colors for me!

Mrs. Morris sends their work home, so I am able to see what my son is working on and learning, as well as what I can do at home to help him.

I volunteered at his class party yesterday, and again, was so impressed to see the way Mrs. Morris interacts with her students! I had been considering home schooling my son before we enrolled him at Katherine I Daily, but now, am glad that I made the decision to go ahead and enroll him in Mrs. Morris's class!

PROS: Personalized attention, wonderful teachers
