I had been to Hewitts Service Center, Lexington Park MD several times. They have the best price around for 'Car/Tow Dollies' ($50, no deposit needed) and stay open until 6pm. Next, I went for inspection, and they were efficient and honest (especially compared to Chesildine who lied to my brother about needing new CV joints and 2 other parts on his brand new car.) Lastly, I called last minute, on the day before my tags expired, needing my axle shaft changed in order to pass inspection. I arrived to Hewitts 25 minutes after I hung up the phone with their mechanic (Mike), and they had it done within 90 minutes, which was great because last place I took it to spent 2 hours and couldn't get the bolts undone.)
Anyhow, if you want friendly, honest and efficient service at a decent price, I definitely would recommend this shop. They can do anything you need, including rent you U-Hauls and Towing equipment.
The guys at Hewitt's normally do very good work. However, during my last service visit, they replaced some belts that I had specifically told them not too since I wanted to do that maintenance later. When I picked the car up, they basically told me that I was lying, and that I had given them approval to do that work. I ended up paying for all the parts and labor.
When I got into my car, the battery was completely dead. They jumped it so I could drive it off, and the battery predictably died in my garage the next day. When I talked to the manager about either getting a refund for the parts I didn't order or the battery they should have told me I needed, he literally told me "It would be better if you just didn't come back here for service."
I have never dealt with a ruder car service center, and I would highly recommend you look elsewhere - there are several other good local shops: Mark's Automotive or Precision Tune Auto Care.
Hewitt's repair got the job done, but not without a $6,900 repair bill. Yes, that's $6900 folks. After fixing what tBayside Chevrolet tried to fix and screwed up, they conducted some additional repairs and called it good including a NEW factory transmission. I have no reason to believe they are dishonest, but kaboom. goodbye $7K.
I was very impressed with a young man at Hewitt's named James. He was so helpful when I needed to get a trailer--he knew he prices, how to hook everything up. It was a very cold morning and he was courteous despite the freezing wind. He got everything set up and I was on my was very quickly. Great customer service! I will be back.
We recently took our SUV repair to Hewitts due to a knocking noise. The service department was very helpful and understanding and asked many questions to rule out any unnessasary repairs. We didn't get the news we wanted about our engine but they explained everything that was wrong and after we left we called back with more questions and he was happy to help us. We really appricate that kind of customer service. We would be happy to be a returning customer if needed again.
