Horrible service dept; don't even bother wasting your time and money. I wish I read all the previous reviews before giving in my car. I wouldn't even use them for a simple oil change.

The sales department is dishonest bordering on criminal

Balances owed to the customer were not reported. Only after calling repeatedly, requesting detailed invoices that were not provided, was the fact that they owed us money

I have been using this dealerships service dept. for years. Always honest, always explain what has to be done to repair my car. I feel like family when I drive in for service. I don't know what those other people are talking about. You can bring your Subaru to them with confidence. True professionals!!!

I'm baffled by these terrible reviews, my family has purchased and serviced 4 Subarus from Bay Ridge. We've never had a bit of nonsense with the purchasing or servicing of these 4 vehicles. They are friendly, knowledgable and accomodating. Maybe these reviewers have the problem. As far as getting a $1600 bill for repairs, we have always gotten written estimates before we leave the car and if there's any change, they call before they do the work. As far as buying the car somewhere else when you live in this business's area and then complaining about the service, I DOUBT VERY MUCH THEY PUT OLD DIRTY OIL IN YOUR CAR!!!
I think you, Eric S has the problem. And to Ahn Min --- if your comprehension of the language is equal to your review, then maybe that's the problem. I recommend this dealership to many people without a problem.

Bay ridge asked for a lot of money for a new subaru so I bought my Subaru in another state. They said that even though they can't match the price they would love to service the car. I brought it over to Bayridge Subaru for its first service at less then 3,000 miles. I had an oil change using synthetic oil. A few days later the car started to knock!!! I checked the oil and it black at tar. THEY PUT DIRTY OIL IN MY CAR.

I took the car to another garage and they confirmed what bayridge subaru has done. They said that its impossible to make such a mistake and they obviously did it on purpose. The oil should have been a clear to honey color and it was black and thick. I had to have the oil flushed out and the filter replaced.
I will never go there again. They are not to be trusted.

worst service department in north america. STEVE & JAKOB ARE unfriendly, unknowledgeable, lazy, and a liar. this dept should be shut down. a disgrace to the subaru legacy. dont ever go here, unless you like problems, like being bullshitted, and like being ripped off. go to queens or long island. metric subaru is extremely knowledgeable and will do the best to fix your problems. THE WORST SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN NORTH AMERICA. THE PLACE IS DISGUSTING FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO LIVE UP TO THE SUBARU REPUTATION AND DONT COME CLOSE.

NEVER GO HERE. Horrible customer service, horrible mechanics. Complete scam-artists! Charged me $1,600.00 for a 60,000 mile check-up and a few other minor repairs. Drove out of dealership with a new problem - a horrible grating noise. This was my 2nd bad experience with Bay Ridge, so I took it somewhere else, where I was told that my front and rear brakes were completely shot. If I could give them negative stars, I would.

Worst experience with a maintenance service. The owner Steve Cravotta lied to me and told me during 4 hours that my car would be ready in less than one hour. He became extremely rude when I asked him why my car was not ready after 5 hours waiting.
I will not recommend this place to anyone and will never give them anymore business.

Mechanics there are train idiot. I went in to have the same problem fix twice 2 year about but mechanic insist on following what ever the diagnostic computer tell them, the same fail step they did the last time - replace spark plugs, don't work, replace ignition wire, don't work, replace fuel injection - would have cost me $2000 if was still under warrantee, till they end up with the same solution, replace both O2 sensors which cost me $400. I tell them what they did last time and what work but they insist they have do whatever the diagnostic code tell them.

Have them replace an in operative sunroof last year, use it no more then 10 time, to find out this summer that it don't close, end up fixing it myself.

Mechanic have no understanding of diagnostic - if I want to replace every parts till it work I could done them myself.

Repair Rep. try to use scare tactic to get my to replace my timing but at $600. Schedule say at 105K.

Expensive. Have no confident in they work or recommendation. Would not recommend to a friend.

The Bay Ridge Subaru dealership in Bensonhurst is a great place to buy a car. Negotiating a price on the car I wanted, the 2005 Subaru Legacy GT, was very painless. When we arrived at a price that we both agreed upon, they showed me all the paperwork and were up front about all the taxes, rebates, etc. They also follow up with you several months after the purchase of your car to see if there is anything else that you might need.

My only gripe with them would be their service department. While their service hours say they're open on Saturday, they won't do anything but oil changes and other "quick" things as there's only one mechanic on duty on Saturday! They service department also doesn't seem to be entirely knowledgeable about the Subaru's. I often find the subaru forums to be a much better source of info than them.

This dealership is a great place to buy a car (they also sell Kia's and Isuzu's) and you won't get any nonsense from them. But you might want to think about getting your car serviced elsewhere!

PROS: Good car buying experience, no nonsense
CONS: Service department isn't great, good for service...on weekdays
