I purchased a Flat Iron frome here for a wedding!I did not even get to use it! It broke as soon as I plugged it in! I went back to the store expecting to get my money back, by the way it was not cheap! Debbi the store owner refused to give me my money back and was very condesending!!!! I bought my Dermalogica products here for over a year, with the owner of the store (at least I think he's the owner) kissing my butt every time, until one day I finally saw his true colors. I was trying to ask the cashier a simple question and the owner butted in with an incredibly condescending retort that didn't even make sense, since he had only been half-listening to our conversation. He treated me like I was trying to scam him or something when I was just asking an innocent question. I could tell the cashier felt bad--she tried to explain to the owner what I was asking, and afterwards she was really nice and gave me a bunch of free samples, but the owner didn't apologize or anything. I've never been treated so poorly by a store owner in my life--that man is the epitome of rudeness and callous disregard for his customers. I will never shop here again. Also, be warned: they do NOT accept full Dermalogica cards (the ones you get stamped with each purchase) unless they issued you the card themselves. Even if you got every stamp from Total Beauty Experience, if the card itself was issued by another store or a salon (as mine was), they will not honor it. They stamped my card for months without checking where it was from, but when it was full and I tried to turn it in, all of a sudden I find out that they won't redeem it! So cheap.

At first, I was a little overwhelmed with the vast array of products, and, being a little unfamiliar with the Arden area, a little out of my element. But it was so much fun to look at the all of the products and walk around the truly beautifully arranged retail area. I was especially impressed with the wide variety of hair care products. If I ever win the lottery, this will be on my top ten list of establishments to spread the wealth around in! Additionally, the charming lady who rang up our purchase guided us to a really great new Mediterranean restaurant in the same strip, just a few doors down.

I called them for a producat and got quoted 19.95 after I got there it was 49.95. ok, fine. I was told that if the product was not used, I could return it for my money. If I used it, I could only get store credit. I purchased the product and went home and really looked into it and decided not to use the product. I went to return it and they would not give me my money back. The woman there took the product over the counter and then would not give it back to me. Unbelievable....I got my product back and told them that I would do a charge back for the product and she said...""go ahead Debbie will fight it and I told her so would I."" What a terrible experience...never, ever would I go back. I even had someone with me and can verify the whole return thing I was told.

Every time I visit I am thrilled by the HUGE selection of products and the incredibly friendly staff. I don't live anywhere near the store, and yet it's the only place I will go to buy hair and skin products and fun gifts. I recommend the store and salon to all my friends, and everyone who I recommended has become a faithful customer.

I went online to find store hours and was sucked into reading a lot of negative comments. I needed Dermalogica products and this store had the best prices. I prepared myself to be mistreated and was ready to fire back at any employee that made me feel like an unworthy customer. To my SURPRISE I was greeted by a friendly young lady. I was able to walk around the store without being followed (I was looking over my shoulder to see if anyone was peeking around corners), I picked up products and sampled products and never once did I feel mistreated. I would recommend this store to all of my friends. \r\n

This is an experience like no other! Sure you can get overwhelmed when you first walk in and find thousands of products, but there is always a knowledgeable sales assistant nearby who is happy to help.

I can find products here that no other local beauty store carries. Total Beauty Experience is my paradise!

My Husband and I went in to get some shampoo we wanted something to make our hair more full Jon the manager suggested Rusk Calm so we bought it in liters I guess. that makes your hair so flat it is not funny. I called to see if I can exchange days later and Jon would not help us at all he talks so fast its like he really don't care about the customer and there hair just the money he makes. We will NEVER go back there....

Unfortunately, I bought it anyway and ended up giving it away. A few days later I had to return a difusser for my hair dryer that didn't fit. I didn't even get all the way in the door when a sales associate stopped me and insisted that they don't take returns on difussers. I told her it didn't fit and she responded with, ""That's why we ask you to bring your hair dryer in the store."" I have never heard of such a stupid thing. Who drags their hair dryer around with them. I finally convinced them to give me a store credit and was trying to find a conditioner that I had received as a sample previously. The sales lady was so rude I couldn't believe my ears. She actually started yelling at me when I said that I wasn't sure if it was the same thing. I will NEVER go back there and I have told all of my friends and family of my experience there. I was actually relieved to see all the negative comments on this post. At least I know it wasn't just me.

I was so happy with my trip up to Total Beauty Experience! I am an esthetician so i went to beauty school and have a license so i can go to professional stores and get huge discounts, but there was a product that i wanted that no one in my area had and closest was T.B.E.. Even though i had to pay what everyone else has to pay i was impressed with their knowledge and hospitality. They genuinly cared about me being there. I know that not all went to beauty school there but i can tell that they were trained well by whomever! NICE JOB! i will return whenever i am in sac!

It's over-kill. I understand shoplifting can be a problem, but the negative energy produced from this method makes shopping feel defensive. Overall John is not friendly unless it's to make a buck.

However, ONLY purchase something there if you KNOW you love it (or are comfortable spending the money on a product / tool that may not work for you that you cannot return). The return policy is pretty much non-existent. You can return regular size bottles of shampoo / conditioner but they haggle over it and it is very uncomfortable. You cannot return any face care / makeup or tools. I would never go anywhere else if the return policy was better - hopefully they will loosen up a little and realize they need to keep up with the times! Especially since there is now an Ulta and a Sephora just down the street with 100% guarantees and no haggling!

I went to Total Beauty for over 10 years and always loved it until I had a horrible experience there and will never go back and neither will any of my friends or family. I was shopping there with my mother and sister on a quiet Saturday afternoon, we bought about $300 worth of stuff. One thing I got I realized was the wrong product and took it back to exchange it the following Monday evening. When I asked to exchange my face wash that had never been opened and was just purchased 2 days before the owner started questioning me and I said you know who I am I have shopped here for years and he told me he knew me but thought the way my mother, sister and I acted in his store on Saturday made him and his employees feel like we were going to shoplift and that he has so much stuff taken from his store he doesn't know who will shoplift and who won't. We did nothing wrong at all - we just shopped and checked out tons of stuff and then spent a lot of money in his store. Me or my family would NEVER shoplift - that is insane that he felt that he could speak that way to me, especailly since I had been a loyal customer that had spent thousands of dollars there over the years. We went back and forth - as I could not believe he would say these things not to mention in front of several customers. Finally he agreed to exchange the face wash and a nice employee walked me over to get the right product, she kept apologizing for her boss's actions and said how rude he always is. Once my friend (whom was with me) realized what had happened she started to speak to him and he was completely rude to her and they ended up getting into a yelling match. He was SO unprofessional and extreemly rude and I DO NOT reccomend giving your business to Total Beauty Experience, there are plenty of other places now in Sacramento to go. Thanks! :)

I went to Total Beauty for over 10 years and always loved it until I had a horrible experience there and will never go back and neither will any of my friends or family. When I was being rung up the casheir said that the shampoo was mismarked. She walked around the counter and grabbed another bottle, it was marked $24.95. She then proceeded to tell me that eventhough the one I picked up was mismarked I would have to pay the $24.95. I asked to speak to the owner and of course it was the same lady. She was so rude! She said that it didn't matter what the ticket said they would not sell it to me for the price of $21.95. I proceeded to tell them that I was going to leave without buying anything and that I would take my business elsewhere. She said that she didn't care and refused to even look at me. Total Beauty Experience is the only place that I go for beauty supplies because of the wide-range of products that I can get all in one store; I have gone to several other local beauty supply stores over the years and I have never been able to get the specific products in the specific sizes that I use until I started shopping at Total Beauty. The customer service is always impressive, and there is always someone there to assist when needed. I love the GiGi Tea Tree Creme Wax and St. Tropez tanning cream...I have used these two products on a regular basis for the last 3 years, and they are always available when I need them. Total Beauty Experience is the only beauty supply that I can get the liter bottle of St.Tropez on a regular basis! I recommend this store anytime someone asks about my skin or hair....

What a poor and absolutely ignorant excuse of a business owner. A hair extension was purchased by my sister who had her doubts about the color and came over to show me. I agreed with her, that the color was about 5 shades lighter than her natural hair color and was surprised that she was allowed to leave the store with the $95.00 hair piece. (If your sales person isn't going to be honest with you at least your sister will!) Jerome answered the phone, and while yes he does need to have his best interest invested in his business, he was rude, became belligerent and even started to personally attack my character suggesting that ""I was use to getting my way""...quite the contrary. I would NEVER treat someone as poorly as he did. He even went so far as to ask me my age, asking if I was in my mid twenty?s, as if someone that age wouldn?t know customer service if it was dumped in their lap. (I am in my 40?s) I was never given the chance to explain the nature of my call. I was never asked if my sister would like to come in and purchase another hair piece and he would help her match it personally to her hair, we weren?t offered any type of resolution to her problem other than a 5 minute phone call that ended with him telling me that I was cutting him off every time he wanted to say something. Which is surprising, since I got to hear him tell me ?he is 46, the owner, it is standard industry policy to not do hair extension returns, that I shouldn?t have rained on my sister?s parade by telling her it didn?t match her hair color, she was probably perfectly happy when she left and I didn?t know what customer service was. Newsflash Jerome, I?m not use to getting my way, but I am an educated woman with a lot more time on my hands than you do, and there isn?t one thing you have at your store I can?t buy somewhere else as I share our story. I am going to a fundraising event this weekend with about 700 other women in attendance, guess what I will be sharing with them Jerome?

I was very shocked, because I know that my sister would NEVER do anything like that, we were raised in a very good home and we would never even think of stealing from a store. When I tried to explain to the employee that he must have been mistaken, he began raising his voice and calling us ""bitches"" and ""n*ggers"" and to get ""the f*ck out of his store."" I purchased an expensive tweezer, same brand I've purchased on several occasions for myself and as gifts. It didn't work well and I attempted to exchange it. The sales girl pointed to the sign above the cash register and informed me they didn't accept returns (an item she overlooked advising me when she SOLD me the tweezer). I said I didn't want to return it , only exchange it. She said they didn't accept returns because the manufacturer didn't take them back and that I could try contacting them directly. I again asked why they wouldn't stand behind a product they sold and she said they'd never had a return on that brand before. I said I knew it was a good brand, just a rare defect and I just wanted another one exactly like it. She still refused. I left the store stating they'd lost me as a customer. If I'd bought the exact item at Nordstrom there'd never have been a question. Lesson learned ~ deal with someone who will stand behind what they sell.

Never...Ever....Ever....go here and listen to the advise of the alleged professionals about ANY PRODUCT THAT THEY SELL...i have been advised incorrectly twice...after i asked the male professional for a product as heavy or heavier in hold to Nexus Extra Gel and asked him twice if it as as heavy--he assured me that the product was...and it cost $10 less.....i really don`t care about saving money on an inferior product.....they will not give a refund or credit,,,I should have learned from the first time that they gave me a product that was no way similar to what i asked for......so shame on me this time....there will never be a next time!!!!

I have to say I am extremely impressed with the service and products I recieve from Total Beauty Experience each time I go. I go in wondering what in the world I can do for my mid-back length curly hair; and each time I get help, advice, and an armful of new products at very low prices. The staff at Total Beauty Experience have never failed to greet me at the door, immediately ask me if I need help, stop what they're doing to assist me, and they're always full of little freebies at the checkstand. There is also someone always at the door to say thank you and goodbye even if nothing was purchased. Now, don't get me wrong, they are in no way like the pushy shoe salesmen who follow you around the store and talk up a storm after you say ""just looking."" The staff as a whole has obvious pride and confidence in their company and the products they provide. Also, I would like to add that the prices are great, and each time I have gone I have recieved discounts beyond those which are posted. I really can't say enough good about the place. Infact, I am going back today to get a bottle of some lotion that they gave me a sample of yesterday. One more thing. DUH - why in the world would hair, skin and make up products be returnable??? You can't sell them again. Common sense: don't buy shampoo unless you need it, and if you realize you don't afterall, give it to a family member. Thats all! I LOVE TOTAL BEAUTY EXPERIENCE - and most of my friends go and eventually they all will!!!

My family and friends also buy from them and love their service. They also have great prices and give tons of samples. This store has so many items to choose from, it can be hard to find what you really want. They have a wonderful selection of candles too, which I really love. They have great sales and they always have some sort of sample to try. I found a great cleaning product there for my kitchen. you would not think you would find such a product at ta store like this. I went out of my way to go there because it was locally owned, had an amazing inventory, great sales, and they always gave a handful of product samples when you made a purchase -- your bag was like a halloween candy bag! Unfortunately, snobby service turned me off of going there. After I had my poor experience, another friend (a long-time customer) had a surprisingly bad experience... neither of us will ever return. As much as I tried not to shop at the beauty store big box chain, I no longer have a choice (and am starting to enjoy it!).
