Hill Country Care has been a wonderful place for my mother.
The staff takes good care of her, and she enjoys the good food and entertainment. People and groups who donate their time to entertain the residents are outstanding, better than those who would come into her assisted living facility. Community groups participate in many ways, enlivening the routine.
I get calls whenever a change is needed, such as when she gets sick or when a doctor recommends a new prescription. This is an open, friendly care facility that keeps us well informed. I'm so glad we selected Hill Country.

Hill Country Care is a wonderful facility. They are even a training facility for the State for similar nursing homes. My mother has been a resident there for almost three years. I love how it is so close that I can drop in for a visit any time of day, which I do regularly. The staff there treats her as if she were their own mother. The community is very involved with Hill Country Care. The local churches, The Friends Foundation, numerous Girl Scout troops, the DSISD schools just to name a few organizations, donate time and money to help make this a shining star in their community. Because the facility is small, it has an intimate homey feeling. The staff gets to know the residents and vice versa. The residents also become very close to each other. I would not hesitate to recommend Hill Country Care to anyone seeking a nursing or rehab facility for their family members.

My mother was a resident at Hill Country Care for about 10 months prior to her death. She was very happy there, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their care because of a less than satisfactory experience with another facility. The staff provided excellent professional and medical care, but more important to me (and Mom), they treated her as an individual and did special things that were appropriate for her. Her favorite ice cream; a sweater in the color they thought would look good on her, for example. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hill Country care to anyone who is looking for a safe, caring environment for a loved one or friend.

I can't say enough good about Hill Country Care. I have a close friend who was cared for there until she died, and I was relieved to see the quality of their service. The facility is modest and unpretentious, but the personnel are exceptional from the top administrator to the aides. They know their residents well, and they do everything possible to make the living environment pleasant, comfortable, and safe. My friend was kept clean always, received appropriate medical care and attention, and she was treated courteously and gently by all staff. They communicated regularly with the family, keeping them informed of any changes in her condition. The entire experience was much more positive than the twice-as-expensive care faciltity where she lived before coming to HCC.

My mother has been at Hill Country Care, because I haven't been able to take care of her full time. I visit her almost every day now, because I have to stay on top of the morning staff at Hill Country Care. They have neglected to leave my mother in bed, and sitting in her feces, and urine for most of the 6-2pm shift. She cries to me, and tell me what they do to her. She has her call light on for very long periods of time, and when they finally come to her, she had an accident all over herself, and they even get mad at her for it. I really have no other choice, but to leave her there, because I work. I have talked to other resident children, and they have experienced a lot of neglect, and cruelty from the staff that works 6 in the morning to 2pm. I wish the State would look into all the residents that live there.
