My dog got out once (scared by a noise), and I was SO relieved to find her safe in the care of the shelter! Everyone there was very nice to me. I have since been there to check out the dogs as we're thinking about adding another to the family, and again had a positive experience. I can't help but wonder if the low ratings are from people who've had citations for one thing or another...and how can you give a one-star rating because of a website glitch? I know you're frustrated looking for your old dog, Jeff, but really - I'm pretty sure the county takes care of the website, not the shelter.
And before you make comments about executing dogs, perhaps you should look into their record, not just what "somebody" says. They're public record, right on their website; their success rate is almost as good as the humane society.

These people do a lot of good, taking dogs that careless owners never come looking for. I've met a few people that have adopted from there and have been really happy.

I'm trying to enter my lost dog into their database. They say"don't wait. do it immidiatly". But their website database doesn't work. I fill out the form and it won't submit. I get 404 NOT FOUND. What a joke of a web site. My 13 year old family dog is toast. I wonder if they get a bigger budget for excecuting more dogs. Dog services my a$$.

We have called them repeatedly over the last week about a male dog that has constantly been trying to get into our fenced yard to our girl dog. They keep telling me that if I got my dog fixed this would not happen and that they will not do anything about it unless I catch the dog, I am disabled and only have one leg I cannot catch a dog. This happens every time my dog goes into heat. The owner of the other dog does not have a fenced yard and lets his dog run free, but im the one that is in the wrong because I don't get my dog fixed, atleast she is in her own fenced yard. They are very rude ladies at the office as well.

When I tragically lost a friend to cancer with several Rotte's still at home, the staff at Clack Co Animal Shelter were a joy to work with, going above and beyond to assist in the placement.

Thanks to the shelter for being a stopgap while we found great homes to these souls in need.

We had a horrible experience at this facility as well! The people working inside (mostly women) had very negative like attitudes. And seemed more like they were bothered that people were there! I was really rather disgusted with how these women hung around the desk at the entrance and seemed to be more into chatting with eachother than helping the individuals and families that were looking around!! We ended up leaving and found a private person to adopt our wonderful dog! Please keep in mind that there are plenty of dogs outside of the shelters that need homes as well! And to the people at this facility...IF YOU AREN'T HAPPY BEING THERE....WHY DON'T YOU FIND A NEW JOB OR CAREER! I WOULD HATE TO KNOW HOW YOU ACTUALLY TREAT THOSE ANIMALS WHEN THE PUBLIC ISN'T THERE! POOR THINGS!

This agency lies and misrepresents facts. Recently this agency apparently held a hearing about my son's dog, my son is over 18 and the dog is just about six mos now.

My neighbor to the east of me has, FOR SEVEN YEARS, harassed and trespassed, putting padlocks on our gate, ABUSING PETS, pitching rocks and hard as rock clods of dirt, using a spiked spear on a chain and 10 foot metal pipes to STRIKE my son's dog. WE INFORMED THE DOG AGENT of this, but the agent was never here to see all he was doing, but would take a phone call from him if the dog barked and issued my other son a citation, the only citation issued,

My neighbor was destructive to the dogs when they were puppies & my property which including kicking my fence down and entrapping the puppies after leering them into his yard. .

This male neighbor must have called daily as he found a way to beat us up and used whatever device to do so. He also got his neighbor to call too.

This agency apparently held a hearing and placed stiff fines No one signed or received any served papers for a hearing. NOBODY SERVED NOTICE of any hearing the only paper I ever got from the dog representative was a warning about barking dog. I did not receive or sign any papers for any hearing. It is appalling that an agency could just hold a hearing, and fine illegally.

I called the agency about other dogs that looked like my sons that wandered the neighborhood, but the agency just ignored it.
SOMEONE NEEDS to review the factual actions of each agent to assure no one else ever is so abused THE WAY we have been.

My son?s dog was always inside in his room. It is not a Lab. My other son's dog would visit but never stayed MORE THAN ONE WEEK AT A time. WHEN MY GRANDSON SPENT THE NIGHT, HE BROUGHT HIS DOG.
AFTER THE DOG AGENT HARRASSED, SO MANY TIMES ALL GOT RID OF THEIR PETS.

WHAT A SHAME! Kangaroo Court? Gestapo? All Illegal!

NONE OF IT MAKES ANY SENCE. OUR GOOD NEIGHBORS ARE appalled at such INJUSTICES!
