Went there on a saturday night when the crabpot was on a hour wait.
We were seated in a couple minutes on a table by the window with a amazing view of Elliott Bay.
The dining room is all dark wood with laterns and a little on the dark

I had a great meal at the Fishermans.

I am a large man as was my brother and they were quick to offer us chairs that were more comfortable without arms. We are both over 350lbs.
They were also able to fill us up with the oversized crab

We arrived and were seated upstairs (in chairs that don't accommodate wider patrons.) The service people were friendly throughout, but despite the fresh seafood, we did not leave happy customers. Our drinks were weak and pricey (we were told we could PAY for an extra shot of rum!) I for one am tired of sourdough bread; the chowder was a clump of flavorless flour, the "baked potato" was dry, unattractively presented red potatoes, and the rice substitute, also dry. The broccoli was not cooked. The tartar sauce was not adequate despite two extra servings (lost in cabbage leaves), and the birthday key lime pie - honestly, I thought maybe is was one of those fake display desserts - heavy in texture and not a hint of citrus other than a lime slice in top. For $80 I felt cheated and told those wating on our way out. What a waste of prime real estate Fisherman's Restaurant has become.

Cons: everything else....

The Fisherman's Restaurant fits in perfectly in the middle of the tourist area. The location is great, the food's pretty good, but it can get seriously overcrowded during the tourist season. The outdoor deck is beautiful, but watch out for those seagulls!

I used to be a server. I know the drill. Tourists fill the patio and you get overwhelmed...but you ALWAYS show a sense of urgency and treat the customer with respect. Our server meandered around the patio with her head in the clouds while my friend and I wasited 30mins for drinks and an hour and a half for fried food. After our meal we talked to a manager who never once apologized for our terrible experience, but instead offered to take care of our bill NEXT time we come in, as if we'd ever come back.
Don't waste your money!

The first time I visited the Fisherman's was when a friend invited me to lunch there. I was impressed with the great location, right on the water, where you can sit outside on the huge deck and enjoy the sunshine and watch the boats and ferries come and go. Great people watching place! My friend ordered a large salad which was excellent, and I had a pasta and smoked salmon dish. It was perfectly prepared and we really enjoyed the entire experience. It was very busy, but the wait staff was very attentive without overdoing it. prices were very fair, considering the quality of the food and the beautiful views and perfect weather. Definitely worth a visit, and as an added bonus, the entire waterfront area is fascinating with tons of things to do and see. Two thumbs way up for this restaurant.

We had to wait over an hour to get the food and not even an apology even after complaining. What a waste of time when visiting Seattle.
The food was ok, can't be compared to many other sea food rsturants. The resturant is nice, especially the view.

If you are looking for great food, along with Seattle's BEST view of all the action on the water, come to Fisherman's! I have been there several times, and have always found it to be a great place to sit out on their decks on a sunny day, and to enjoy some great food, great brew, and great service! This restaurant is a local gem, even though it is located in the hub of "touristville" in Seattle.
It's also a wonderful spot in the Fall and Winter, try the Thanksgiving Feast, you get your own turkey and trimmings to take home for leftovers!
I enjoy the fresh fish selection of the day usually, but the steaks are delish too!
The cranberry bread pudding is wonderful! A perfect choice for those looking for an incredible value for the very reasonable price! This is a great place to just linger on the pier.... they do not rush you away after your meal, so it's deck sitting at it's best!

This is one of our favorite places to go. We just love the menu items they have. We usually get the Crab Feed dinners which start with a bucket of clams then goes to the salad, sour dough bread and then the AAAHHH crab. YUM!

I was surprised to see some of the other reviews on this site. I live in Seattle and the Fishermans has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I just went down for dinner last night and enjoyed a beautiful sunset and view of Elliottt Bay. I arrived around 6pm and went upstairs to the bar to enjoy a drink with the friendly and attentive bartender Oggy while I waited for my friend to arrive. They have a nice beer selection, featuring a nice mix of local brews. When my friend arrived we were seated downstairs by a window with an incrediable view out onto the bay. We started with a Crab dip and a bucket of penn cove mussels. Both were fresh and delicious and recommended by our friendlly and attentive server Brandi. We both had the Fresh Alaskan Halibut for dinner, served with soup or salad of which we both had the New Enland clam chowder. The chowder was amazing, creamy thick, and loaded with clams. When we complimented Brandi on the chowder she told us that they have had the same guy making it for over twenty years. Well I think he has it down pat. The halibut was cooked to perfection, moist fresh, flakey. Our dinners were served with rice pilaf and fresh asparagus. We split dessert since neither of us really had room for it, but why let that stop us. We shared their bread pudding with the cranberry sauce. I was warn sweet and delicious. I had a great dinner as always and will be back soon. Thank you Oggy, Brandi.

My cousin and I decided to try The Fisherman's Restaurant after we found out that Ivar's brunch was over and would be closed for a couple of hours. We arrived a little after 2pm and were seated promptly. Our waiter brought us our water to drink, then came back and took our order. A little later he brought out the bread and then we didn't see him again for 45 minutes. I was wondering if he had forgotten our order. I went and asked the manager if he knew when our order was going to arrive. He found the waiter and the food was brought out shortly after that. After the food arrived, our waiter refilled our water glasses and then we did not see our waiter again for another 40 minutes. All in all, it took 2 hours to eat fish and chips. Now if it was a busy lunch or dinner rush, I could see waiting awhile, but since it was slow and a group of 4 that came in after us, got their food, paid and left before we got our bill, I was frustrated. I will not be returning.

Writing this after having an excellent experience at the Fishermans. Happened upon this place while on a strole through the Pike Place Market. I have not been to the waterfront in several years and was pleased to see all the freshened buildings, remodeled aquarium, sculpure park, cruise ship terminal. I stopped by the Fishermans restaurant to have a drink on the deck, it was located in the center of the seattle waterfront and seemed to have the best view. I sat outside on what they referred to as thier cocktail patio. I appreciated the fact that they seem to separate between their dinner deck and the cocktail appetizer patio. I appreciate kids but also appreciate the more casual quiet enviroment that the over twenty one area can offer.
I was promptly greeted by a cute, bubbly server and given a happy hour menu and quickly served a refreshing cocktail off of their menu. A great fruity sangaria on a hot day. I ordered a couple of inexpensive appetizers and was surprised by the size and quality of the food. I had a cold king crab appetizer served in a slightly spicy salsa of sorts. Excellent!! I also ordered a bucket of steamer clams, fresh and delicious.
I had an overall great experience and will definetly be back again soon. I recommend this place!

Spent a day downtown in late August doing the tourist thing. We picked this restaurant mainly because it was a beautiful evening and the view from the end of the pier as the sun set was absolutely amazing. Didn't run into any of the service problems other reviewers seem to have experienced as we were seated promptly and had a relatively attentive waiter (though he did seem a little overworked at times since it was unusually busy for a weekday evening). After a loaf of acceptable, but not exceptional sourdough bread and a cup of delicious fish chowder, I had the cajun seared yellowfin tuna. The fish was definitely fresh and tasty but the preparation was rather unimaginative and a somewhat heavy hand with the spice had a tendency to slightly overpower the delicately flavored tuna. Where the food really falls down is in the accompaniment which is nothing better nor worse than thoroughly mediocre. Every dish is served with the exact same rice pilaf and vegetable (green beans when I visited); no attempt whatsoever at pairing the accompaniments with the main item. And what is served is (again) passable but not great. Overall, I'd recommend Fisherman's if the weather is nice, the sun is setting, and Elliot Bay is filled with sailboats since the view of the water is absolutely stunning. The food however is nothing special and isn't a reason in itself to dine here. Average through and through.

Enjoyed the new sculpture park for a family gathering on the waterfront. Happened to stoll to the end of one of the piers finding the Fishermans Restaurant. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the patio with resonable prices and great service. We had a fresh broiled Halibut with rice and fresh asparagus which included soup or salad of which I enjoyed a creamy cup of thier house made chowder. I was told when asking about the soup that they have had the same guy making it for over twenty years, I think he has got it down, it was some of the best I've ever had. The kids had the Fish & Chips, and a cheese pizza. I was impressed with the childrens menu, they had a nice selection and even included a broiled salmon filet. The service was attentive and our waiter served up free carousel passes for the kids at the end of lunch. I was throughly impressed with the location, view, menu, and service!! I will be Back!!

Just enjoyed a wonderful lunch on the deck at the Fishermans. I rarely go to the waterfront especially in the summer when the tourism is up. Had family in town and decided to check out the newly remodeled aquirium and ended up at the end of pier 57 at the Fishermans restaurant. The fresh alaskan WILD!! salmon was amazing, cooked to perfection and served with asparagus and rice, and included my cup of clam chowder. A couple of the children enjoyed a salmon dish off the childrens menu and a hot dog. The food and the service were great. Our server Cy was attentive and provided the kids with a couple free passes to ride the carousel, nice touch. Overall a great day on the waterfront.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. My experience was so bad that I had to come home from tonight?s dinner at The Fisherman's and write this. We ended up at this so called dining establishment because The Steelhead Diner happens to be closed on Mondays (our loss). Everything about our dinner sucked. Poor service, terribly over priced, the food was bland and just plain bad. The waiter spilled water on our table and didn?t even wipe it up and would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. The fish we ordered was served with bland rice and mushy asparagus, the clam chowder was horribly over-salted, and our pasta was over-cooked and paired with the type of ?preserved? smoked salmon you would buy at a Seattle souvenir shop. There were empty tables throughout the restaurant, however they felt it would be a good idea to seat a couple and their 3 small children next to us as we tried to enjoy our cocktails. Good God how do these people stay in business? I will never get our $175 or our 1 1/2 hours of time spent back??.

I went there on a Wednesday, and had a great experience with a couple friends. We sat at the bar upstairs for a beer as we were waiting for someone to show up. There was a guy named Oggy who knew about things in the area going on. We had a table in the main dining room with a view of Waest Seattle, the ferries, and other Elliot Bay stuff. Actually, I was wondering which of the islands were the ones across the way. The crab cakes, and sauteed mussells were great, and I had the Columbia River king salmon, but everyone else had to try the halibut. The wine paired were two different types of Stagg's Leap which went well between the two different types of fish. I want the deck to open, and was let out there to walk around and look forward to an outside summer night there. We went to the bar afterward to end up discussing Kurt Vonnegut with "Oggy" until it was time to go to the show.

hmmmmmmmm...where to start. how can i begin to explain just how bad our dining experience was at this "restaurant"? i seriously doubt any fisherman would claim this. we had sub-par cocktails to begin, and then moved on to the ridiculously overpriced crab "feast". soup...not bad for canned. ICEBERG lettuce garnished with one measly shriveled cherry tomato posing as a salad. then on to clams and mussels, "not so good" would be putting it nicely. finally, the "feast" of crab...literally stomach turning. after receiving our crab, our waitress decided to take the night off. probably the first time i considered a little D&D (yah know, dine and dash), but the restaurant was so empty we never could have pulled it off. even after stating in the comment card we had absolutely no interest in returning EVER we received coupons/gift cards in the mail...anyone want one? $100 spent on two meals...anyone hear of buyer's remorse?

Fisherman's Restaurant has got to be one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. We go there a lot, especially in the winter when there aren't so many tourists. I always have a hard time deciding, but I love the teryaki salmon, and my family likes the roasted garlic appetizer and the crab is always good. Our server tonight was really sweet and attentive. And you can' t find a better place to watch the sunset!

The other reviews of The Fisherman's surprise me. I work in the area and so I eat there often and my experiences have been positive. The view is paramount-almost worth the trip alone. The vast majority of the seafood on the menu comes from the Pacific Northwest so it's very fresh. The clams in the herb-butter broth is absolutely amazing and the dungeness crab is great. A weekday evening is best-the service is fast and efficient and the food always comes out hot. try it!

We actually were planning to go to the CrabPot one evening but they closed early with the new Fall hours so we went here instead. Just for good measure we ordered the big p0t of seafood since that's what we were craving. It was on the pricey side, the bread wasn't warm, the seafood was mediocre and for some reason the butter was completely tasteless. The service was so slow and for no good reason. We had our food sitting on a tray waiting to get dished out to our table and another waiter had to jump in and help because he saw us staring at our food and our waiter was nowhere to be seen. We also didn't get our water topped up and no one ever came to check on us. All in all, it's pretty clear why the restaurant had so few patrons on a Saturday evening.

I always write reviews if Ive visited at least twice. This is an exception, because theres no way Im going back to the Fishermans Rip-Off. After seated, it took a waitress 20 minutes to give us a hint that she is serving us. It was not crowded, or even half full. The service was simply inattentive. The food was worse.
The crab feast has a minimum of two people, at $68 total for two. What did we get? We share a lousy medium sized Dungeness crab with a few King crab legs. Of course they did include that at the end of a 4 course meal. The 1st course was a cup of potato they said clam chowder. The 2nd course was a small bucket of empty clam shells, and muscles. The 3rd course was a plain salad that was obviously sitting out all day. The rest of our group got the prawn feast. Two people share, for $60 total, a handful of fried prawns, a handful of grapes, and three skewers of butter prawns. Price marked 200% of a decent price.
I timed the waitress: she took 15 minutes to grab another (cold) loaf of bread then 20 minutes to grab a soda. In a sad attempt of courtesy, she brought hand towels at the end but she should have noticed that we have all already made a trip to the restroom and have been sitting idly for her. I now regret giving her any tip at all.
My recommendation to management states, when delivering overpriced food at a location where people are willing to pay a premium for ambience make sure either your food is great or your service is great. If both are piteous, then even the waterfront lovers are bound to notice.
My recommendation to my CitySearch comrades, stay far away from this restaurant. Its really that bad.

Cons: Horrible Prices, Inattentive Staff, Low Quality Seafood

My cousin convinced my husband and me to go here with her and her husband for dinner. MAN, am I glad she did! I am a huge seafood lover and I was in seventh heaven. We ordered the crab lovers feast for two. It was $30 a piece, but it was well worth it. The food just kept coming. You start with a salad and bread, then soup, then mussles and clams (steamed), and then comes the HUGE serving of three types of crab; Alaskan, King, and snow. It was delicious. We opted to sit out on the dock overlooking the sound. There was a wedding going on behind us, which just added to the fun and beauty of it. I didn't really look at the rest of the menu as I came for one thing only. They have a nice wine selection, though. The waiter we had was very nice as well. If you love seafood, this place is top notch.

We arrived and were seated near the window. We thought we lucked out because of the view, however the AC vents were blowing on us all night and it was so cold that the butter for my crab was coagulating.

SERVICE: Our server was terrible. Ordered a whole crab with a side of garlic butter. I got regular butter. I sent it back to add garlic, our server claimed they did not have garlic butter, I had to explain, just add some garlic. I recieved a mountain of garlic with about 2 Tbsp of butter.

FOOD: Very average, but priced decently.

AMBIANCE: Great view, but very cold and dark.

OVER-ALL: I think I will choose a crying baby and a DVD nextime.

1. Make sure to budget at least $60 for two. 2. Ask to be seated next to a window (bring a blanket). 3. Don't expect good service.

I went to lunch at the Fisherman's last Saturday with a group of nine people. They had to split our group into two tables because there wasn't room for us, that wasn't a problem, but our service was. Once we were seated, our waiter did not return to take even a drink order for ten minutes. One of our tables had their food before the other was ever offered a second round of drinks. The second table finally got salads after forty minutes, but never got main courses, and the waiter never came back to offer more drinks, apologize, or give an update. The other table finished eating and paid, so after an hour and forty minutes with no food, we left and went next door for fish and chips.

I read the reviews from 2002 and was very surprised at what they had to say. I have eaten at this restaurant at least 5 times in 2003 and the food has always been wonderful. Maybe they listened to those reviews and changed things, so I highly recommend it, for not only atmosphere but great food as well.

The food was AWFUL at best. The stuffed cod was dry, overcooked, and horribly seasoned. The rice pilaf was OLD--with crunchy bits from rice that had obviously been served several days before. The vegetables were poorly seasoned (butter and salt, if that). The salad was your typical iceberg lettuce with shreds of red cabbage and your two complimentary cherry tomatoes. The service was neglectful. And on top of everything else, it was ridiculously overpriced. Until this place gets new management who provides the diner with greater respect (I think the person thought that all diners are stupid and that he/she could pass on the cheapest available ingredients to the customer), this is a place NOT WORTH GOING TO!!!! Other than the view, there is NOTHING good about the place.

Me and my husband went down to the pier for fish and chips but decided a martini would be nice. We settled on the fishermans. First they would not do fish and chips on there dinner menu So I had the broiled halibut and rice. My husband had the all fried seaffod platter . My halibut was dry and tasteless the rice was crunchy and the veggie was brocoli which was over cooked at the cost of $26.00. My husbands plate was $18.00 and he swears skippers was better the only good thing on his plate was the chipolte dipping sauce. Overall we were discusted the view was nice but obviously it is from every retaurant on the water. we will not go back!

Cons: too many to list!

This place is horrible. Outside of the view, the resturant has nothing going for it.

The food was dull, the wine was worse. I had the 5 pepper sturgeon...the pepper nicely hides the horrible taste of the fish. It's entre was served with rice pilaf and steamed vegs. The rice was hard, the vegs were probably from Albertsons frozen food section. I can't believe I paid $25 for this.

I should have left this place when I tried to pick up my water glass and it stuck to the table. All in all...avoid this place. Denny's is cheaper and servers far more palatable food.
