I completely agree with the below comments. This is America, and that is why I will state my opinion. My child was a level 2-8 gymnast there for years. The ONLY reason why she stayed there so long was for my wife. Lisa is a *itch. The other coaches at the higher levels are the exact same. If you would like your child to come out injured, and crying every day...go ahead and try it. My daughter was not a slacker and did all of the conditioning- believe me. She had a 6 pack at age 12. Not that she is older and is married, she has had both of her shoulders repaired and gets injections into her knees. It is great at a recreational level...but do not stay there. I support hard work and expected her to be good at sports (she played college soccer), but I would never let my grandchildren go there.

Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion. That is what makes this country great. ANYONE looking for a gym please listen carefully. When you are on top you are always going to be the target of others. That is the case here. From the perspective of a parent of gymnasts and former coach at more than one gym, Lisa's is my choice for a safe, professional and fun environment for my gymnasts. Let me let give you some insight. There are at least 7 gyms in Northwest Indiana all wanting your business. Some "gym moms" ( as in Texas cheerleader type moms) and even former gymnasts with alterior motives will smear other gyms with believeable propaganda to get your business. Lisas is what it is. A high level gym that has the best record around. As far as injuries, there are a number of factors there. 1. It is a dangerous sport at times. You should enter the sport knowing the risks. 2. Lisas believes HIGHLY in proper conditioning so you are STRONG enough to do the skills without getting hurt. If you are lazy and cheat at conditioning all the time then yes, you very well may get hurt despite the best coaching. 3. There is NO misconception by any staff at Lisas that they are developing Olympians. That generally is the dream and push from the parents and gymnasts themselves. Bottom line is this. You should always visit the gyms and make your own assesment of what feels right to you. Not by what individuals with alterior motives choose to write. Lisas is not for everyone. Neither is any other gym.

I grew up being a gymnast at Lisa's and have had tons of coaching experience; with this being said- please take my review seriously. Lisa's Gymnastics is a great gym for results. But you now need to ask your self how far you are willing to go for your child's sport. Let me remind you that NONE of the gymnasts have reached olympic level (besides junior olympics, which is not rare). I am still in college, and every single day I was up in pain. And when I say PAIN, I mean it. At my age, I have tendonitis, the begining signs of arthritis, buldging disks in my spine, and neither of my shoulders are good. Each person that I was on team with is in the same boat as I am. Not one of my past gymnastic friends escaped the injuries of Lisa's. When I say "the past injuries of Lisa's" I say it, because it is unique to this gym. Friends that changed gyms, and completed the same levels that I did, actually had fun ( what a concept) and came out of the sport unharmed. I understand that this review may spark an uproar of gymnastics moms that think that they are doing the right thing for their child, but let me tell you right now- it. is. not. worth. it. And if you are sitting here reading this, thinking that your child will be the exceptiong, you are wrong. I met tons of great people, learned many life lessons, but I will pay for it the rest of my life. Lisa and her posse of coaches push the gymnasts too hard and do not know when to stop ( like when someone broke their foot doing a backhandspring series on beam, but se continued to make her do them until she was satisfied...cough cough ON A BROKEN FOOT). Point being, please choose wisely. Look at other options

I do not recommend only because there is definately not enough supervision. There is too many children and not enough adults coaching, let alone actually present in the gym. For the amount of money one would pay for their children to attend this gym for a cheer/gymnastics their child(ren) should get at least a little bit of attention. It is too crowded-no where to park with one way in and out.....making it extremely difficult to turn around. My main concern is the child to staff ratio....this becomes a safety issue:(

The upper levels have great instructors and the teams do well in competitition. The instructors for the pre-school levels are inexperienced and do not pay close attention to the children.

I absolutely love Lisa's! She definitely is the best around! She has a new gym which is kept clean and has a ton of room. As for going to open gym... It's exactly how Mag R. put it... It's for everyone to come it and run around, they don't do that during classes! Like I said before, Lisa is the best at what she does.

Kerry J. YOU have got to be kidding. It is called open gym because it is a time for free play. I have been there multiple times for open gym and each time the staff have been attentive to keeping everyone safe and making sure kids get to PLAY. If you want structure TAKE A CLASS. This is a new 12,000sq foot facility with the best gymnastics instruction north of Indianapolis. The teams are ALWAYS in the top and produce multiple state champions. The facility is clean and well run. There is NO BETTER PLACE IN NORTHWEST INDIANA for gymnastics instruction!

I have been to this facility for open gym. It is an absolute mess. Very dirty. Kids running around like maniacs. It was very hard to tumble with kids running in front of you. I would definately not recommended this place to others

Lisa's gymnastics is the greatest school ever. I know know why it's called "The Best of the Northwest." My child loves it there and i would never change it for any gym in the world. I heard that the teams did very well this year. Lisa's had multiple state champs and even had a lvl 8 regional champ. I can't wait for my child to gt to these levels. It just leaves me with a good feeling when i know I'm getting the best my dollar can buy.

Lisas is located in a warehouse, with old stained carpet and an old worn down look to it. But the classes are great and the kids have a great time learning the gymnastics skills. They also are available to rent for birthday parties and the set up is pretty cool. We had a problem with the young girl supervising the party, she was quite rude, and they double booked the date of our party, but even with all that the kids had fun.
