The guy behind the counter answered all my questions and told me that some of the fish I was interested in didn't live together in the same tank. I decided on two beautiful fantail goldfish, but he also had Orandas, Lionheads, and three sizes of Koi--there was no algae in any of the tanks or white spots on the fish--and they all swam vigorously.

It looked like they had many varieties of salt water fish (including a ray) but I'm not setup for that.

I also picked up a healthy water plant (they had many types to choose from).

Pros: Clean, lots of healthy fish, friendly, and affordable

Cons: Supplies are limited, but had good quality food

I live just up the hill from QT and thought I would stop into pick up some female guppies since my fish have been gradually breeding them out of existence. I walked in, began to browse and was initially impressed by the selection and the cleanliness of the tanks. I didn't see any guppies so I went to ask one of the group of 5 men who were standing at the counter eating (no one asked me if I needed help or even acknowledged me, mind you). I was told to go look for them, and when I said that I had, he said in broken english "if you don't see it, we don't have it." I said that was fine, but I had a question about some of the fish they did have. The man began to repeat himself, so i repeated myself. He shook his head again, and said a few things I didn't understand. Thinking he was misunderstanding me I repeated myself again, and when he still didn't budge I said "you don't want to answer my question?" To which he replied, no. I really can't believe an employee (or owner, I'm not sure) would point blank tell me that he didn't want to help me. Talk about customer service. Despite the fact that it is two blocks from my apartment, I will not be going back to QT.

Andy is the best! I found this place when he just started salt water. He was learning but quickly found his sea legs. If you know about fish and want good deals then go. It says that he is open at 10:30 but don't go before 12 in my book. You can't beat these prices and he is a great guy. PS If you don't know about Saltwater fish , corals , and inverts please learn before getting a bunch of fish or coral. This is a impossible hobby to just jump into. Tanks must be cycled for months before adding sensitive animals. Take it slow and read lots. Trust me the fish and your wallet will be happier.

Pros: Price , Selection, and Price

Cons: Opens late so go after 12pm

So I just stumbled across this shop today, everything look good in the saltwater section except for one dead bicolor blenny. Just about every fish shop I go to in Seattle has a dead fish, so it did strike me as pecular... however the prices did. This stuff is priced very low. Someone in the store said they liked the changes they have made, so I assume they have been positive changes. This shop also had a wide selection to choose from, and they even carry stuff I don't often see in other stores.

I'm a saltwater guy and the corals looked healthy, and the maxima and giant clams looked great. The water flow in the tanks was stong, but I did see some red slime alge in one of the tanks, but hey has anyone seen Saltwater City lately? Very scary red slime algae there.

They say you get what you pay for, but I'm going to roll the dice and see what happens. I'm getting some blue mushrooms, some ricordia, a maxima clam, and maybe something else. Perhaps a plate of some sort or macroalgae? I'll make anothe post in a month and let you know how my experience was.

As far as freshwater goes I can't make any comments...

Pros: Low Prices

Cons: Quality... TBD

i wonder how he stays in business , but he does. i dont know much about the freshwater here, but the saltwater is strange, if the fish are alive(dead are free) they are priced to sell, because if you dont buy them now , they will die soon, hence the very low price, most prices on saltwater fish are very close to wholesale numbers.
but you have a good chance of getting home and have your fish die, or make others sick .
its a good risk though , the price is right.
