Very disappointing service here. I was trying to arrange a nice dinner for approximately 20 people to celebrate the retirement of a trustee on our board. Salty's at Redondo Beach looked like the perfect option. After playing phone tag for a couple rounds, the group dining coordinator never returned my call. I called & sent multiple emails to the restaurant trying to get ahold of someone-anyone- who would help me make a reservation and get all of the dinner details sorted and never recieved a response. If this is the level of customer service I can expect when dining at this location, I will not be stopping by or attempting to make arrangements here any longer.

Great food, great service, great location. There is a boat ramp nearby so this location is perfect for a post boat ride beverage or two. Our first time there, we had just sat down out on the deck on a late summer day when a tray of Oyster Shooters was carried past us. Hmmm! That was it, we were hooked. Awesome coconut prawns, too btw. Go to Salty's at Redondo and you will be happy.

This was a mediocre meal served at a high price.
We had the family style dinner:
Coconut prawns, not bad, but slightly over cooked
Steak, Very good, done perfectly
Salmon, a bit dry...definitely should not have been cooked a second longer.
Asparagus...giant, but shaved the woody parts off. Was good, not over cooked.
Mango Salsa over sticky rice. OK, this was a huge disaster! Mango Salsa should be sweet, taste of mango, with a bit of heat.
The mango was to green and had NO FLAVOR....they made up for it with way to much jalapeno and cilantro. If it weren't for the orange color of mango, you would never have a clue there was mango in it!
Their signature cake was good.
We each had 1 drink (4 of us) and the bill came to $200. Seriously, for 1/2 that amount I could have gotten a good meal elsewhere. Or even a mediocre meal, like this one, for 1/2 that amount.

Perfect day. Perfect lunch. Blackened Salmon & salad was delicious. Tender and what I call a five minute bite. A five minute bit = That bite is SO great... you want to savor it for five minutes before another. The sun was out which was an added bonus.

Our hotel recommended Saltys. We were looking for seafood and atmosphere. We ordered a bucket of schrimp and fish and chips.\r
The fish was not eatable. The halibut was thin and like card board. We are accustomed to fish frys that offer bear battered cod or halibut. I described the fish to the maitre d as ""disgusting"". There just was no any other word to describe it. We could not eat it.\r
The schrimp were tiny. At this type of restaurant, I was surprised they would serve such tiny schrimp.\r
As I described my experience to the maitre d, I felt that he was not being honest about the quality of the food he was serving. It was so bad, he had to know that is was bad. Point of fact, I have questions his integrity.\r
He said we may get 1 complaint a year. He should read his own reviews.

I ordered the Garlic prawns and Jasmine ginger rice. The rice was extremely dry and obviously prepared in chicken stock which when paired with a seafood dish does not make a good combination, not to mention the presentation of the rice (looked as though it was plopped down upon the middle of the plate with an Ice cream scoop). The rice completely lacked any ginger flavor and was very dry and gummy for a jasmine rice. The garlic prawns were so overpoweringly seasoned with garlic and butter that the natural flavor of the prawns could not be tasted at all. This meal was prepared with out any care for the final product. I would expect something of this low quality when dining at a restraunt like applebee's but I would also expect to pay $9.99 instead of the 24.99 that the meal was quoted at. Upon receiving this meal I sampled the rice and the prawns than boxed the meal up to see whether or not my dog or cat would find the meal more edible than I. \r
\r
Next was the herb crusted chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes and asparaus. The chicken was slimy and as for being herb crusted I was unaware that simply dry rubbing some herbs de provence on the outside of a chicken breast passed for being herb crusted. The chicken also had a rubbery texture and was overcooked. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted as though they were made from instant potato buds, the texture was like a mush I would have liked to see fresh garlic cloves even small peices in the mashed potatoes but that was also non-existant. The only bright spot of this entire meal came from the service which was prompt and very courteous needless to say I am going to give Salty's another chance only because I recieved a free sunday brunch coupon otherwise I would never set foot in Salty's again.

Salty's at Redondo is always our destination place for a special night out! The food is always wonderful and the service is above average. The chef's fresh market sheet is always a tasty choice but, I have a hard time not ordering the ""Crab Mac and Cheese"". The bar also has great daily specials (prime rib on friday's for under $20, YUMMY).\r
\r
I am not sure if the people writing the previous reviews usually eat super-sized Claim Jumper portions but, the portions are more than adequate. I would always rather have quality over quantity. If you are in the area, I highly recommend giving Salty's a try!

I dont know what it is about Salty's at Redondo. When you walk in its a nice resturaunt but then you see these signs you can put your face in and balloons everywhere it reminded me of Red Robin. Then you sit down and get to looking at the menu. To be honest the menu doesn't sound intriguing at all its like every dish only comes with mash or rice WOW thats a good choice...then when you order your salad it looks like it was just thrown on there. The dishes are sloppy. I wonder what the chef is thinking when he sees this go on. Then its just way to expencive to eat there and not get proper portions. I have so many bad things to say about this resturaunt it boggles my mind. Well pretty much do not eat there its not worth it

Our first visit was to our liking. We had a party of 18 people and they had set up the tables in a platformed area of the restaurant, so we felt we had our own little room, in a sense. The waiter, Noel, was very very accommodating, entertaining, and polite. The food was fresh (most of us ordered halibut), and the prices competitive. The restaurant sits right on the Puget Sound with the beach that adds to the whole experience. The restaurant definitely gave us that sea worthy feeling. Loved it!

Rather disapointing and expensive brunch which does not provide a good value unless you are looking for a lot of food of mediocre quality. I tried a variety of food. Crabs were salty, and dried. Crepes tasted cooking oil instead of butter as they should. Crepe batter was inappropriate for good crepes. Oysters on the shell were small and dry. Roasted beef was overcooked. Salmons (varieties) were overcooked. Sorry, but any standard, none of the food that I tried met the qualification of a good, expensive restaurant. For the price one would expect a lot better. Too bad, because the location of the place is outstanding!

Cons: Very mediocre food

They have the best food and service. We like to go and have a quiet drink in the evening and sit by the water. The location makes you feel like you're in a little remote hideaway. Great stuff.

I have been going to Saltys for over 20 years. I had 1 bad experience there with food poison , 10 years ago , and Once again, recently with a snooty manager. Both times they downplayed everything. Overall they hire good help and do their best. I met the owner but he doesnt know me from Adam as I am pretty discreet . I have played guitar with a few of my local musicians there for fun. I think the staff doesnt have to work so hard to please because of the location. If you dont like it go elsewhere , seems to have been the attitude a couple times I was there. Overall they do well.

Salty's is my favorite restaurant in the south sound. I can't get enough of their beautiful sunsets. The fun and lively happy hour; the staff at Saltys and the food make every trip memorable. On the weekends they have live music and when live music and happy hour are going on I can't think of a better place to be for dinner . You also can't beat their Sunday brunch. They offer all the favorites wild fresh salmon, crab, shrimp, oysters oh yeah and the ultimate chocolate fountain. As you can tell I spend alot of time at Salty's but with all their wonderful choices and weekly menu changes I will be coming back for years to come. Salty's has hands down the best food, staff and atmosphere in the south sound. Thank you Salty's

I had a business dinner at Salty's last night and the food was excellent. I had the seafood chowder as an appetizer and the Romano Asagio Halibut with mashed potatoes and vegetables and it was delicious. I would highly recommend Salty's and look forward to hopefully eating there again. Also, the view over Puget Sound made for a great dining experience.

A friend and I went to Salty's in Redondo last week and were looking forward to it as it's one of the few restaurants in the Federal Way area that isn't in a strip mall. Unfortunately, it wasn't very good. My girlfriend ordered mussels and the third one she tried was obviously bad so she returned it and it was removed from the bill. A manager came by and mentioned that they'd had previous problem with their supplier. Hopefully, by now they've corrected the problem. Next my salad nicoise arrived execpt that it was nothing like a salad nicoise. It was just a large green salad without the usual tuna, green beans, egg, niceoise olives, new potatoes and capers that are all fairly customary in this dish. After sending back the mussels, I was reluctant to be the ugly customer who complained and sent everything back. Wish I had something better to say about the place. Oh, wait , the view is nice. There...

If your going out for brunch this is the place to go. The variety of food is overwhelming if you like egg benedict this is the place. The serves is very warm and friendly and the view whether it be early morning or evening is incredible.
Besides brunch they also have a wonderful lunch and dinner menu.

Salty's at Redondo is a wonderful place for a date. Their restaurant is right on the Puget Sound so you have a lovely view of the water as you dine. I went there on Valentines Day and enjoyed their friendly atmosphere. The servers and staff were amazing tending to our every need. The presentation of the food was spot on with a superb taste. Salty?s is a little pricey but definitely worth it!

MY HUSBAND AND I WENT FOR A SPECIAL EVENT, AND THE FOOD WAS AT LEAST 4 STAR AND CLOSE TO 5. THE SERVICE WAS SOOOOO BAD. WE HAVE NEVER GONE BACK. THE WAITRESS WAS YOUNG BUT SO SNOOTIE, SHE LOOKED DOWN HER NOSE LIKE WE HAD CRAWLED FROM UNDER ONE OF THE ROCKS, ON THE NEAR BY BEACH. SHE FLIPPED THE FOOD AT US AND NEVER RETURNED, THANK GOSH. THE ATTITUDE STARTED AS SOON AS SHE WALKED TO THE TABLE. WE DIDN'T HAVE WINE OR DRINKS BECAUSE OF A PERSCRIPTION AND SHE ACTED AS THOUGH WE HAD COMMITED A CRIME. SHE MAYBE GONE, BUT WORRY THAT IS THE TYPE OF HELP THEY HIRE OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Most people don't even know this place exists! It's a hidden gem on Puget Sound somewhere south of Des Moines and north of Federal Way. There's a beach where you can get your feet wet - well, that is if you're not too dressed up anyway - and, hey, you don't have to dress up! The seafood dishes are extraordinary. No kidding. They arrive at your table with great service - the servers are totally into what they do. Smiles! Smiles! Smiles! You're gonna feel like you're eating in your own home. The seafood includes salmon, halibut, clams, oysters - everything you love about living in the northwest - steaks too. The view is incredibly gorgeous especially when the sun sets over the Olympic Mts (if only we could own one of those homes on the water!). They have decks all around the building with plenty of outdoor seating - just be sure to make reservations (it gets packed when the sun comes out - everyone in the northwest has to get outside when the sun finally arrives). Plan to walk along the beach after your meal - it's a total northwest experience.

Went there with a large wedding party - was terribly disappointed. Horrible service, horrible food. Out of 17 people who attended, 2 enjoyed their food, and they ordered the chicken strips and fries. It costed over $600 and made for a very uncomfortable situation.

Recently had brunch at Salty's Redondo with friends from Portland which has now turned into an annual event. Improved over last year- great selection of fresh items, service was very attentive; we all loved the new chocolate fountain for the finale!
Keep up the good work!

My family and I have dined at Salty's Redondo for many years and we've never been disappointed. The food and service is exceptional. The view of the puget sound is unsurpassed. I will continue to recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.

On a recent visit, our sauteed halibut entree was fabulous and the warm sunny day gave us a great view from our window table. We watched the local divers surface near the pier. We'll definitely be back again to savor more of their seafood specialities!

Salty's has wonderful ambiance and the food is fabulous, but the view is INCREDIBLE!! I could just
stare out the window at the city scape all day and night.

It is my favorite Seattle restaurant!

Pros: great view, good parking, great northwest food

I went to this restaurant expecting great service, food and decor but I was severely disappointed. This dinning area reminds me of Red Lobster and the food made me feel unsatisfied afterwards. The service was horrible, having to wait what seemed like hours just for the waiter to return with a tea. I'd go to Flying Fish in Belltown instead, it is much better and worth the price.

My husband & I celebrated our engagement with dinner at Salty's. The food was excellent and the wait staff very friendly. We don't go their often, but those waiters still remember us and are always very friendly.

We've been back a few times to enjoy their live music and a glass of wine... The only draw back is it draws a good crowd and seating is very limited.

Salty's provides the best seafood I have ever had. The service is painfully lacking. The servers aren't as attractive as they seem to think they are. A request for a wine selection was greeted with snootiness and then little direction. This works in situations when the wine list is minimal, but, the Salty's wine list is way too extensive.

Salty's enjoys a long-standing reputation as a place to go for tasty seafood dishes served in a delightful waterside atmosphere. Though this and the Alki Beach location are both popular destinations for out-of-town visitors, expect to seeā€¦
