With much anticipation, I went to see "Alice in Wonderland on opening day at the Northglen Theatre. As the movie began, I thought the colors looked muted but figured it was just the "real world" presentation and would be correccted when Wonderland (or Underland, as it is correctly called) appeared. Wrong: it was just as muddy as the first scene. I kept taking off my 3D glasses to make the picture a little lighter but then, of course, the images were blurred.

After the show, I looked for the manager. Turns out, he already knew about the problem and "has spoken to the engineer" about it and any equipment that could be adjusted was adjusted. With a shoulder shrug from him, I left.

Then I remembered the conversation I had with someone about the movie Avatar. They thought the Na'vi were brown. They had seen it at the same Northglen Theatre, I had seen it (twice) at the AMC Barrywoods Theatre.

It was a disappointing, frustrating experience; not worth the mortgage I took out for the ticket and some popcorn.

Definitely, go to the Barrywoods 24 IMAX theatre.

I was excited when the Northglen theatre first opened due to its convenient location and what I hoped would add more variety to movie watching in the Northland. However, I am thoroughly disappointed. Many of the theatres are SO tiny. If you're watching a film that is not the current action-packed blockbuster, chances are you'll be in a tiny theatre (as in less than 10 rows). The theatres aren't soundproofed. I can always hear the movie in the next theatre through the walls. Finally, the place is just a mess. They simply don't take care of the theatres, bother to sweep the popcorn off the floors or pick up the drink cups. You're much better off going to AMC Barrywoods.
