Dr. Molitor is kind, knowledgeable and thorough. He gives me complete information, answers my questions and gives me the time I need to understand the situation. My dog had an episode I thought was a seizure. Dr. Molitor determined the incident was due to back pain and treated accordingly. Another time, my beloved dog was so ill I brought her in fearing it would be her final appointment. Dr. Molitor determined she had a bacterial infection. Treatment solved the problem. Dr. Molitor has my highest recommendation.

Writing a reivew of Dr. Molitor is not hard as he is WONDERFUL.

We met Dr. Molitor shortly after the South Bay Veterinary Hospital opened. Our mini-doxie (Riley) was just not feeling well. Dr. Molitor came into the examining room and immediately bonded with Riley. I have never known a vet to be more loving, carrying toward pets. I have a hunch ALL his 4-legged patients receive the same quality of care. Dr. Molitor simply loves animals of every type. And you know it the moment he greets you and your pet.

Dr. Molitor cared for our Riley for the remainder of his life (about 4 years). Last week Dr. Molitor, my husband, and I realized Riley's quality of life would never return. He had fought congestive heart failure the last 2-1/2 years of his life. Without question my husband and I know Riley would not have lived as long as he did without the loving care of Dr. Molitor.

I'm certain one of the most difficult tasks of any vet is to put a beloved pet to sleep. Our Riley crossed over 'the rainbow bridge' last Monday May 10th at the age of 14-1/2. And once again Dr. Molitor's loving care made a heart-breaking situation for us easier to bare.

When we are ready there will be another mini-doxie looking for a home which we will happily provide. And one of his first introductions will be to our wonderful Dr. Molitor.

I love the vet - but the staff are pretty bad. I finally gave up last night after waiting 25 minutes for my appointment, and the people who were there *before* me still had not been helped.

Usually I get into the little waiting room within 15 minutes... but then typicall have to wait another 15-30 minutes... and I've had to wait up to 20 MORE minutes to PAY. That's nuts.

Sadly, although I like the vet, these years of experiences with the consistent wait wait wait have forced me to seek another vet.

Dr. Molitor and Dr. Shoemaker are awesome. I have all the faith in them to help me with my kids.In fact I am calling today to see what I can do for Sissy Sues somewhat tender leg, she is limping and favoring it somewhat.

It was late in the day on a Sat and I called South bay and got there Receptionist Laura on the phone. I was hysterical. I had just gotten home to find my 6yr old Labrador retriever with a huge gash in his side and having trouble breathing. I had no idea what had happened or how long he had been there. Laura calmed me down told me to put Scooter in the truck and get him there as soon as possible. By the time I got there the clinic was already suppose to be closed. But the front staff saw me pull in and met me out front. Helped me carry him in and rushed him to the back. Most hospitals I have been to in the past would of just sent me to another place that was open like the emergency pet hospital. It was very refreshing and comforting to know that the staff cared that much about my animal to not send me any where else and stay after hours to make sure he was treated and stable. He is fine now! Still have no idea what happened! Dogs will be dogs, and its nice to know when there up to no good that my vet is always going to be there with open arms to help in anyway they can. I recommend South Bay to any one looking for a compassionate caring veterinarian!

I have had nothing but great experiences at this hospital. Both doctors Molitor and Shoemaker treat me and my pets as if we were family! I love when I walk into the office and the front staff greats me with a smile and knows me by name. I have been coming here since they opened and will continue to do as long as I am a pet owner!

I've had experiences similar to other reviewers. I really like Dr. Moliter. He takes time to answer questions and explain things to you. The front office staff is definitely not the friendliest around. He's a good vet, but needs to request better customer service from the staff!

I have been going to South Bay Veterinary Hospital since shortly after it first opened. Dr. Ron Molitor is my regular vet at the clinic but I have seen Dr. Shoemaker as well on occasion. Dr. Molitor is wonderful! He is so kind, compassionate and respectful of his patients and their owners. I read in a previous post that he made that person feel like they were his only patients that late Friday afternoon - I can truly identify with that as he practices that way all of the time! Dr. Shoemaker is also so kind and treats "my girls" as if they were her own. The clinic has had some newer staff that I do not recognize, and I admit that I have been left on hold for extended periods, but that is on a rare occasion and most likely there were three other people calling in at the same time who all want to be helped first! Most of the time the staff is friendly and helpful, especially Laura who works at the reception desk - she can be doing 5 things at once and still have a kind word and a smile for you! I hope that if someone has a bad experience with any staff at the clinic that they take a few minutes and talk with the doctors about it as your pet is very lucky to have such competent and caring doctors managing their health issues and it would be a shame to leave the clinic due to a bad experience with a staff person. The doctors put customer care first and foremost and I can safely say that they would take care of any issues that arose. (Or talk with Laura at the reception desk - she is in charge of that area and she would not tolerate any rudeness by the other staff.) South Bay is a great place to take your dear pets and I have full confidence in them. My bunch has had surgeries and various procedures performed and the care has always been excellent by the doctors!

I 100% agree with the reviews from Feb 2008 and Dec 2007 that say Dr. Molitor is friendly, compassionate & competent.

The front desk staff could be perceived as abrupt sometimes - particularly on the phone. Then, to be kept waiting 25 minutes and have three people say, "We'll be with you in a minute" - after being told to arrive at a specific time... is disrespectful of MY time.

The tech should have a good idea of surgical sites prior to requesting consent... they were not documented with the preceding examination. Wound care would be a good thing to have on discharge instructions... everything was discussed BUT care of the incision.

Addendum: Front desk staff is a little better a year later. Cost of a very short procedure was not justified.

I am going looking for another vet, I don't think these ones value their long-term customers.

The doctors are nice and have good interests to help your pet, Dr. Molitor is good at orthopedic surgery and Dr. Shoemaker is learning endoscopy and laparoscopy putting them at the cutting edge to help your pet.

Dr. Shoemaker was competent and friendly but the staff wasn't. The front desk staff ignored me when I approached the counter and didn't seem to care how long I waited for them. When they finally interacted me, they weren't quite rude but definitely aloof. I'll be taking my pet to a different quality vet with more capable and customer friendly staff.

Dr. Molitor is an AWESOME veterinarian! He listens and was very nice to my dogs. He treated them like they were his most important patients of the day (even though we were one of the last ones on a Friday). On the flipside, the front staff (reception/vet techs) are lousy! They're always rude, twice now I've scheduled an appointment and they didn't have me on their schedule, when I took my dog to get vaccinated they grabbed him, took him back and were done so fast that I didn't have time to ask them the questions that I had wanted...such a shame, Iove the veterinarian, but will probably end up switching vets just so I don't have to deal with the front...
